Note: this club is open to boardgamers who are 21 or over and fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Only approved members are welcome at our events.
Pending members are expected to answer introductory questions such as "what games have you played recently?", "what are you looking forward to playing?", and "are you fully vaccinated against Covid-19?". If you aren't willing to answer these questions in your introduction, your membership to HVBB will be rejected.
Club description:
Hudson Valley Boards & Brews is a social, adults-only get together for modern tabletop game enthusiasts in the Dutchess County area. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds!
We have weekly game nights in various bars and pubs where we will eat, chat, and game together. Some weekends we hold all-day sessions where we can tackle the strategic games that might require a greater time investment or that won't work well in a bar setting.
So what type of games does this group play anyway? We play a variety of designer tabletop board and card games. Take a look at our previous events here on Meetup to see some examples. Boardgamegeek.com has a Hotness section that will give you an idea of what is hip nowadays. We have no strict rules for what games are on the menu, but our group tends to focus on modern, hobbyist, tabletop games that have been released fairly recently. Does this include classic games such as Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, or Clue? While we all have fond memories of playing those sorts of games, they are not really what this group is about.
We love to learn new games as well so feel free to bring some that you'd like to share. See you at our next game night!
