Meet new people and explore New York City with an inclusive have-fun oriented cycling group. Scenic rides, foodie rides, and longer adventures - it's all about fun on two wheels!
Our rules:
- All bikes are welcome - Some events may be Brompton-only and these will be labeled as such. Contact your local Brompton Junction if you'd like to borrow a Brompton for an event.
- No one gets left behind! We wait for slower riders and finish the ride together.
- Be kind and encourage others. Insults, shaming, and hate will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned.
- Welcome new experiences and people. We do not discriminate based on cycling experience, gender, religion, or any other factor.
- This space is for gathering, not for selling. Posts advertising items for sale will be removed.
- Ride responsibly - Helmets are required. Do not ride while intoxicated.
- Be honest about your ability to participate. Only commit to events you plan to attend. If your plans change and you cannot attend, please RSVP accordingly.

Intro: Welcome to the Spirit of 76, a historic ride that will have our stop for food and refreshments in Tappan NY, at Old 76 House. Founded in 1686 and operating as a restaurant and bar since 1755, it is America's Oldest Tavern. Because of the distance and elevation, experienced riders only for this event please!
Meeting point: We will meet in front of the Maine Monument at 10:00am and wheels up no later than 10:30. We will not wait as we have some distance to cover. You must be on time and ready to go as we have to reach our destination before 2pm.
The Route: This ride is intermediate to advanced and will cover 35 miles with 1260ft of elevation overall, with 6.2% grade. Our route will take us over GWB and on 9W where we will take Palisades to Knickerbocker, passing through towns along Bergen County. This is your opportunity to pass through GWB and Governor Coumo Bridge to Tarrytown where the ride ends.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48701989The Venue: Our hosts will be the historic Old 76 House. The site of convictions and hangings during the revolutionary war. If you are a beer lover, you will have the opportunity to try the 76 Ale, a favorite of George Washington which lives on today. Recipe has been preserved for centuries and you can try it here along with colonial era food favourites. Menu items will run between $20-40USD depending on what you decide to eat and drink. If there is any special deals or group rates, I will update everyone.

Safety: Helmets are required, lights highly recommended along with hi-viz or comfortable cycling clothing. We will ride single file. There will be plenty of time to socialize. Severe weather will cancel the event.

If you can't attend, please update your RSVP so someone from the waiting list so another member can have your spot. Riders with a history of "no shows" may be removed from the ride in favor of others on the waiting list.This ride is for Brompton bicycles only.

BY ATTENDING this event you ACKNOWLEDGE and ACCEPT the following:
- I ACKNOWLEDGE, agree, and represent that I understand the nature of bicycling activities and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such activity. I further acknowledge that the ride-out will be conducted over public pavements and facilities open to the public, and upon which the hazards of traveling are to be expected. I further agree and warrant that if, at any time, I believe conditions to be unsafe, I will immediately discontinue further participation.
- I FULLY UNDERSTAND that (a) BICYCLING ACTIVITIES INVOLVE RISKS AND DANGERS OF SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, INCLUDING PERMANENT DISABILITY, PARALYSIS AND DEATH ("Risks"); (b) these Risks and dangers may be caused by my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the ride-out, the conditions in which the ride-out takes place, or the negligence of others; (c) there may be OTHER RISKS AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC LOSSES either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I FULLY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSSES, COSTS, AND DAMAGES I may incur as a result of my participation; (d) I acknowledge that Brompton Bicycle, event organizers, ride leaders, and volunteers will not be liable for any accidents or damages through this ride-out.
