Every face and every person is a unique photographic subject, and capturing the essence of a person in the camera is a challenge to both our photographic and human skills.
Saturday, Concepts and Practice: In the Saturday workshop we’ll look at camera settings, lighting patterns, posing and prompts to bring out the best in our subjects. We’ll cover available light as well as strobes, reflectors, and DIY lighting. Having studied the concepts of lighting and posing, we’ll take turns as photographers and models with natural light, studio strobes, and DIY lighting to practice what we’ve learned. Participants should bring a DSLR or Mirrorless camera for best results. Cell phone cameras are welcome, though they will be limited in using studio lighting.
Sunday, Post Processing: In our Sunday workshop we’ll take advantage of the newest features in Lightroom and Photoshop that give us immense control over the final interpretation of our portraits. Participants should bring a laptop with Lightroom and Photoshop installed, as well as a basic knowledge of each program.
