This is a weekly series where we will mix slow running and brisk walking - for anyone whose fitness level needs improvement to work up to continuous running.
Our goal in this workout is to keep our heart rate up for about 24 minutes, which is 2 minutes more than last time! Alternating slow running and brisk walking for 24 minutes total. Anyone in the group can start a walking break as needed. We can go to Foxtail coffee afterwards to hang out for a morning coffee if the group wants to (assuming they are open on Easter Sunday…not sure).
If you are curious what pace to expect, last time we did this run we had an overall pace of about 14 minutes per mile - running slightly faster than that, and walking slightly slower than that during the walking breaks. Since the course is slightly downhill on the way out, and slightly uphill on the way back, our walking breaks were in the 2nd half. In the next few months, we hope to improve our running workout duration over time, while maintaining a pace that feels comfortable. Our pace is likely to improve over time as fitness levels improve. Getting out there is the hardest part. Come build your base with us!
KinderCare parking lot is next to the Seminole Wekiva Trail, and that trail is where we will run. It’s a paved asphalt trail, surrounded by trees and shade. We will meet at 7:30am and run at 7:35am - unless everyone who RSVP’d is accounted for, then we will run sooner.
