What we’re about
7/26/2024: come mid to late September, I will be stepping down as the organizer. There has been very little to no involvement in this group and I don’t have the time or means to organize an endless schedule of events as I work 60+ hours per week. If anyone is interested in taking over, please let me know. Otherwise this group will shut down.
NO NEW MEMBER REQUESTS ARE BEING HONORED AT THIS TIME.
Events is this group are varied. Biking, hiking, walking, kayaking/canoeing have been the main activities. This is a great way to be active, if that’s what you’re after. But more low key events will be added, if that’s more your style. But more importantly, it’s a great way to meet new people!
There is a $4.00 yearly fee to help offset the cost of hosting the group on Meetup. Any extra funds at year end (September) will be used for a group event or charitable donation.
You should have a 60 day free trial to decide if this group is a good fit for you. If the fee is not paid by the end of the trial, you will automatically dropped from the group.
Participating at any event is at your own risk. Meetup.com or Chicago NW Area Age 50+ Activity / Social Group is not responsible for any harm that may come as a result of participation.
NO-SHOWS AND LATE CANCELLATIONS:
I apologize to all the courteous and responsible people for posting this. Unfortunately this is necessary due to the exceptions. No-shows may be removed from this group after a second no show/no message, without refund of yearly dues.
Cancellations within 48 hours of the event may be considered as no-shows, depending on the event type.
Sometimes there are legitimate reasons for late cancellations. This could include illness, family emergencies, unexpected work requirements, car problems, etc. If you have a good reason for cancelling late, please send me a private message explaining the reason and I may excuse you. DO NOT POST YOUR REASON ON A COMMENT. Your message should clearly indicate why you couldn't cancel within the deadline. Messages or comments merely stating something like "Sorry, Something came up." or "Can't make it. Sorry." are not sufficient. Excuses will be examined on a case by case basis.
If you have a history of no-shows or late cancellations, you will likely be removed from the group, without refund of yearly dues.
