What we’re about
This group is geared towards those of us living in London that are either working with IT / Software or are simply interested in technology. The goal is to offer informal meet-ups where you can:
- Meet people working in tech / aspiring to be in tech
- Get help or input on your project(s)
- Learn skills or help others upskill
- Socialize
We keep it broad in this group: Whether you tinker with electronics, code in back / frontend, do UX design or simply are interested in learning more about tech you are welcome. Any skill-level is fine as well, gatekeeping is not the vibe and the intent is also to make this a space where you can get support or needed input. You should however, have some sort of project you can work on at the meet-ups.
- Developing a piece of software
- Practising interview technique / leetcoding for your next gig
- Writing a piece on something tech-related
- Learning a language / technology
As for a typical event, the plan is to keep things informal:
- We meet at a location (café / library / co-working space)
- Everyone arrives on their own time and starts working on their project(s)
- Anyone who wants help / input / simply wants to socialize can speak up at any time
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on the group or meet-up.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Monday - Tech / Coding HangoutThe Hoxton, Shoreditch, London
Event introduction
Bring your laptop, get a drink and start working on your project in good company. This is a Monday evening event to get a nice, social and productive start to the week.
Who you are
Please note this is a general-purpose tech meet-up. Feel free to join, if you are:
- Working on a project / learning about a topic that is tech or tech-adjacent
- Keen on getting help / input from, or just socialising with other tech-folk
- Nice and respectful of everyone present, regardless of background, chosen tech-stack or current skill-level
Agenda
- 19:00, Meet up: We meet at the location, I'll see about getting us a table
- 19:05-19:15, Introductions: We let everyone introduce themselves. Who are we, what are we working on and is there something we would like some help / input on?
- 19:15-21:00, Work on projects: Once everyone has been introduced, we simply start working on our projects. But everyone should feel free to at any time:
- Ask questions / Get Input
- Discuss technical topics
- Just socialise
I'll wrap up at 21:00, but those who are keen should feel free to stick around .
Venue
We are meeting at The Hoxton, Shoreditch.
They have a lounge / bar area which is usually quite chill and pleasant for a bit of evening work / study. I intend to show up a bit earlier to get a table for us. I've printed a little sign saying "Coding Meetup" so you know which group to approach :)
Additional info
- I'm hoping we can get a good spot with power outlets, but since I can't book a table you're better of coming in with your laptop fully charged
- As you may note I'm keeping number of people that can join the event on the lower side: I'm still learning the ropes of hosting events and I am currently trying to gauge interest before scaling up.
- If you've RSVP:ed "YES" but realise you won't be able to make it, no hard feelings but please let me know ASAP so someone can get your spot - Monday - Tech / Coding HangoutThe Hoxton, Shoreditch, London
