What we’re about

Pining for the days of classic, old-school Dungeons & Dragons? Do you prefer meaningful stories and characters over an endless litany of numbers, rules and books?! Looking for a character-based, long-term campaign with a small group?

Then fret no more, noble adventurer!

We're all about in-person, old-school gaming goodness for small groups (4-6 players), in a fun and safe setting for all experience levels and backgrounds, with music, sound fx and animated maps... we're especially geared towards new players, but old-school vets will also feel right at home in our musty dungeons and dank crypts.

WHY CLASSIC DUNGEONS & DRAGONS?

We use the Swords & Wizardry ruleset (with some slight homebrew variations, see our message boards for more info), which is essentially and literally, a cleaned-up version of the original Dungeons & Dragons. Not that we have a problem with the current edition of D&D, you should absolutely check it out, but we find original D&D to be much more accessible and for us, it’s about the ruling, not the actual rule itself.

For example, your character doesn’t need a particular feat, skill or attribute to try something that might at first appear to be impossible… if the heavily-armored brute of a fighter in your party wants to try sneaking up behind an Ogre, maybe they have a clever way to pull it off (by having someone else distract the Ogre with a loud noise, etc). Or yeah, maybe they just get crushed in rather horrible fashion (which of course, your DM will be happy to narrate).

The point is, whatever you can think of, you can certainly try. You drive the action and roll the dice, we just describe what happens, whether it’s success or total disaster… but that’s where the drama comes from… that’s why you’ll always remember those moments in the years to come. You can download a free copy of the ruleset HERE, but remember, you don’t have to read any of it if you don’t want to, you can learn as you go.

*Given that our meetups are small groups, we'd like to ask prospective members to please have a first name and a real photo in their profile if they'd like to join - thanks!*
