QTIP…, Quit Taking It Personally
QTIP is an acronym Stan Dale learned from intern Harriett Silverman and used it often. It’s about power, isn’t it? What power do we hand over when we’re affected by someone’s picture? When does it show up and with whom? I react defensively to judgments and rejections all the time. I often tiptoe to avoid what others even MIGHT think, and I still find myself calling myself stupid when I make a mistake. Who the hell taught me that?
QTIP.... Wouldn’t it be grand if we could just pop that little aphorism into our brain and stop being hurt by other folk’s judgments, accusations and rejections? It doesn’t work that way.
But the exploration of personal power is a fascinating avenue of personal growth. Let’s get together on Zoom to share our sense of QTIP and engage in a few exercises to shed some light on disempowering ourselves and how it shows up in our lives.
