What we’re about

The Conservation Land Collaborative is for people who want to protect wild lands in a proactive active way, as a lifestyle. Looking at things like conservation easements and off-grid living, we discuss ways group action might facilitate land conservation as well as a “country lifestyle” with “nature at the back door.” In the Nashville area, we've all seen townhouse developments gobble up our favorite forests or farmlands. While conservation easements can protect lands from development, it's costly to purchase conservation land – defined by TN as a minimum of 15 acres. Conservation projects can be labor intensive while conservation assistance favors bigger tracts, 100 acres or more. CLC meetings will look at how investing or working as a group might open doors, for example, in purchasing conservation land, in leveraging the resources of larger conservation organizations, in funding off-grid technologies, or even in making conservation property more lucrative. Speakers will periodically come to share expertise on these topics.

Though meetings will focus on collaborative projects and investments, the group is foremost about learning, sharing, and connecting. If you have dreams or ideas along these lines, check us out. Current conservation landowners most welcome!
