What we’re about

We are all about making good friends and we are GREAT at it! About half of our members are single. Euchre is the main activity were you get to know people. This is not a group for competitive people. We do many other activities including kayaking, house parties, bar nights, travel, concerts, and more.

📝 How to Participate:

Create an account on DarbyConnections.com.

Just show up! No need for weekly commitments or playing all evening. Typically, we play 6-8 games each night.

Game Rules & Format:

Scoring: Everyone deals twice each game. Can have more then 10 points. Four points for Euchres and Reneges on Loners. Your weekly score is the sum of your top five games. Monthly score is based on your top ten games.

Winning: Daily high-scorers win a prize. Tie-breakers favor the player with the highest hand. Must be present to win.

Gameplay: Change partners after each game. Each player deals twice. Screw the Dealer. No game starts post 8:30 pm.

Additional Rules:

No table talk regarding the current hand. Talk your heads off about everything else. THIS IS A SOCIAL EVENT! Keep games brisk.

This class is designed for individuals who are new to Pickleball. It remains helpful even for those who have experience with other racket or paddle sports. The session begins with learning and practicing "Dinking," followed by serving techniques. Once everyone feels relatively confident in hitting the ball, we'll introduce basic strategies and engage in some games.
No need to bring a racket! We provide a selection of rackets for you to use and experiment with. Rackets and balls are also available for purchase.

Heading to the courts alone for a game can feel a bit daunting to many. It's common to see the same groups sticking together, or find yourself either outmatched or barely challenged. And let's not forget the endless waiting for your turn to play. But don't worry, we've got the perfect solution for these hiccups!

Our format is TIMED games! We change teams every 12 minutes. No score limit. Everyone will play at least two games per hour. Our computer program will be used to assign teams based on skill levels and personalities. The program tries to put players of similar skill level together while also trying to have different players each game. There will be times where you mix with different skill levels but that is minimized. When you sign up, indicate your approximate level. Please be honest with your estimate of Pickleball Level! If you are off, we will change it. Here is a basic guide:

Level 1 (Gym Class)

You recently learned the game and have very little control.

Level 2 (Club Team)

You can play the game but you primarily “Play for Fun”. You are not quick and your shots need a lot of work. You rarely play at the Kitchen Line.

Level 3 (Junior Varsity)

You have some good shots and are quick to get to the Kitchen Line. You can return hard shots. You still lack control. You want to get better and play at a higher level.

Level 4 (Varsity)

You are Good! You like competitive games. You are one of the best players in the 10:30 session at the LAD on Saturdays but struggle in the 8:00 session. It frustrates you to play with new players.

Level 5 (College Level)

You can play and Win on any team.

NEW PLAYERS must take the New to Pickleball Class first listed separately but is around the same time.
