What we’re about

We are a group representing the Indian Subcontinent. We are Desi folks, who have gone through or going through a divorce/separation or loss of a spouse.
***We are over 400 + members and are actively engaged in weekly/monthly activities. \

We offer friendship, laughter, fun, and support to each other in good times and bad times.
We are a bunch of friends, who got together and wanted to start a support group for those who would benefit from the camaraderie of other members, and who understand the road you are on. This group is meant to provide a comfortable, non-judgmental, positive, fun-filled and supportive environment.
This is NOT meant to be a dating/matrimonial group. We are here for support.
We plan and host multiple fun events with and without kids on a regular basis.
We have multiple admins running this group and we all vote and collectively take all decisions about activities and events.
Some of our events include hiking, dancing, dinners, socializing, Holi/Diwali/New Year parties, kids play dates, movies, Antakshari, birthday parties and many more.
Entry criteria \

  1. Be of South Asian Descent \

  2. Been married at least once \

  3. Current status must be Separated/Divorced/Widowed \

  4. Agree with our no-harassment policy \

  5. Agree not to use this platform for your business promotion \

  6. Must have a clear profile picture showing your face clearly \

  7. Agree that events pictures will be posted on this platform
    Basic group rules:
    We all must abide by social norms - such as...
    1. No offensive language. Be respectful <br>2. Avoid any discussion on religion and politics <br>3. Treat others the way you would like to be treated <br>4. No discrimination (political, religious, LGBTQ, etc..) <br>5. If your intent is never to attend our events in person - this is not the Group for you
    Anti-Harassment Policy:
    PLEASE NOTE: Anyone reported to be not taking "No" for an answer will be removed and banned from the group.
    Though it is not a dating group, members do grow closer to other members during the meetups, meet others that have similar interests, and platonic friendships do form, emotional attachments do evolve, and even healthy relationships (as unintended outcomes) do develop, which is perfectly natural. Memberrs assume any risks without any liability on the meetup organizers, admins or event hosts.
    This is a reminder to all group members regarding sexual harassment or any kind of harassment, unwanted propositions and any sort of retaliation toward any member of this group, female or male will not be tolerated. \

All members of this group are expected to promptly honor any request from another member with regards to making contact via personal messages, phone calls or in-person meetings, in a mature, responsible and graceful manner and act accordingly.
Any members using Meet-up messaging, instant messaging, text messaging, emailing, etc. to message other non-organizer members they have NEVER met before, taking pictures of other members WITHOUT consent, making sexually inappropriate comments, creeping out, following other members around he/she has met for the first time or does not know and members contacting other members repeatedly despite a clear refusal would be deemed as harassment.
Failing to adhere to the ANTI- HARASSMENT policy will result in removal from the group. \

At meet up events, members and friends do take pictures/ selfies and post it on various social media. DDSG / admins / hosts do not take any responsibilities for the Pictures being shared on various platforms. \

Anyone who attends meet up events or private events, attend on their own will. And every attendee is solely responsible for his/ her own actions, in the event of any injury/ mishaps or inconvenience, DDSG Meet up or the event hosts or the admins assume no responsibilities for any damage caused to a person or a property.
