What we’re about
A great way to get Dharma connected in New York!
We are doing both IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL events. Please check the meetup schedules.

Dharma Drink is now Self Service!
The table is always reserved in the same spot - just show up and see what happens - just like if you were hanging out meeting other Buddhists and travelers randomly in Kathamandu, India, Japan, Korea... And don't take the RSVP too seriously - people are coming now who don't RSVP. The word is getting out....
Everyone is invited! Dharma Drink is all about building community amongst the Buddhist and like minded crowd in New York City. Greg, the founder, was inspired to start Dharma Drink by hanging out with all of the great students of all of the different lamas in Kathmandu - Kagyu, Nyingma, Sakya, Gelug - totally Rimey (also Zen, Thai, Theravadan, yoga travelers, and the curious - just about everyone!). Everyone became great friends and learned from each other. We're there every Friday night - see you there.
Motivation: To make the Rubin Museum Lounge on Friday night the Buddhist and like-minded hang-out spot in New York. If you like Buddhas or to meditate - then you'll love the Rubin!
Who: ALL ARE INVITED. Feel free to spread the word. The more, the merrier.
Time: 6:30-?pm
Date: Every Friday - like clockwork
Place: Rubin Museum Lounge, 17th Street and 7th Avenue
How to find us: Look for a table with the small sign "Dharma Drink" + Lounge staff will know where we are.

About the exhibits:
Mandalas: Mapping the Buddhist Art of Tibet (galleries 963 – 965)
“A mandala is a diagram of the universe—a map of true reality that in Tibet is used to conceptualize a rapid path to enlightenment. This exhibition explores the imagery of the Himalayan Buddhist devotional art through over 100 paintings, sculptures, textiles, instruments, and an array of ritual objects, mostly dating between the 12th and 15th centuries. This dazzling visual experience provides a roadmap for understanding Himalayan Buddhist worship through early masterworks, juxtaposed with a newly commissioned contemporary installation by Tibetan artist Tenzing Rigdol”Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300 – 1350 (gallery 999)
“Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300–1350 examines an exceptional moment at the dawn of the Italian Renaissance and the pivotal role of Sienese artists—including Duccio, Pietro and Ambrogio Lorenzetti, and Simone Martini—in defining Western painting. In the decades leading up to the catastrophic onset of the plague around 1350, Siena was the site of phenomenal artistic innovation and activity. While Florence is often positioned as the center of the Renaissance, this presentation offers a fresh perspective on the importance of Siena, from Duccio’s profound influence on a new generation of painters to the development of narrative altarpieces and the dissemination of artistic styles beyond Italy.”After visiting the Met, we can head to Le Pain Quotidien nearby to get a bite or coffee/tea.

https://wonbuddhismnyc.org/half-day-meditation/Join Us for a Half-Day Meditation Retreat: Inner Peace in the Heart of the City
We warmly invite you to our temple for a half-day meditation retreat, offering a sanctuary of peaceful silence and self-discovery amidst the busyness of the city.
In the hustle and bustle of urban life, it’s easy to feel disconnected or overwhelmed. This retreat is an opportunity to reclaim inner peace and clarity in the heart of the city—a reminder that tranquility is always within reach, no matter our surroundings.
Just as we train our bodies for strength and endurance, we can train our minds to cultivate awareness, concentration, and resilience. This practice leads us to deeper states of calm, clarity, and insight. During this retreat, we will explore our inner light and strength through sitting, walking, and chanting meditation—practices that can be seamlessly integrated into our daily lives.
This retreat is open to all levels of practitioners, from beginners to seasoned meditators. The program will be held in Noble Silence, creating an environment that supports the development of concentration, compassion, and wisdom.
Discover the power of stillness and connection in the midst of the city, and leave feeling renewed, centered, and inspired.
