What we’re about
This is the official Amazon Web Services user group for the East Midlands in the UK with our main base being in Nottingham and Derby. We look to cover all things AWS, from early migrations to event driven microservice architectures. From database management to machine Learning and GenAI - if it runs on AWS it's something we want to talk about.
We're keen to make this an inclusive group no matter what your of technical knowledge and welcome feedback from members on what topics they'd like to see covered.
Events will be in-person as a preference and scheduled monthly following a number of different formats (guest live speakers, lightning talks and workshops).

Have you wondered where the line sits between snake oil and value in Generative AI Developer tools? Join us for a workshop based around Q for Developers where an evangelist and a cynic will guide you through the capabilities (and the limitations!) in a hands-on experience so you can decide if it's useful, dangerous or just a distraction...
You'll need to bring your laptop for this one and have the following set up:
- AWS CLI - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/getting-started-install.html
- Git - https://github.com/git-guides/install-git/
- Python 3 - https://www.python.org/downloads/
- VSCode - https://code.visualstudio.com/download
- You will also need the appropriate python3.xx-venv package installed
If you have any issues setting up, pop us a message and we'll see what we can do. I've also factored in a little time in the session for technical difficulties, but if people are already set up, we can get more things done!
Sustenance will be provided by our BJSS sponsors (thank you)
