What we’re about
Welcome to Exeter board gamers.. for anyone who enjoys board games and having fun with others. We've been running for a few years now putting together groups of enthusiastic gamers for weekly and monthly games nights, special events, and general get togethers.
The list of games out there is too long to mention and anythings welcome so just bring along some of your favourites or join in with what's already playing and see where it goes..
Exeter Board Gamers has an active WhatsApp group, so please ask an event host when you attend a meetup if you wish to be added to the group. Games discussions and reminders of sessions and their venues are posted to the group.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Blood on the Clocktower (Online) with The Grimoire Discord ServerLink visible for attendees
This event is a signpost to The Grimoire Discord server where I (Neil - Attikus on Discord) am one of the official Storytellers for the Grimoire community. I run Thursday & Saturday evening clocktower games every week from 7pm.
Pay no attention to the number of people signed up to this event. This event is PURELY to signpost you to Discord and for you to signup there. These events have now reached 30-40+ players per event split across 2-3 concurrent games.
Rather than this being an Exeter Board Gamers event - I am using this to signpost you to The Grimoire community which is a very friendly and welcoming Clocktower community which also has US and EU streamteams where you can watch those teams play Clocktower live on Twitch and Youtube.
The link to join the online events will be posted via that discord in the #current-sessions channel.
So hop on over to here: https://discord.gg/yzkwu7KS6t - join the server and follow these instructions:-
Go to the “#Rules” channel and add a react emote to both the Mission Statement and Community Guidelines to show that you have seen and read them.
Go to the #introduce-yourself channel and post a little introduction- its helpful to say how much BOTC experience you have, the fact that you live in the UK, anything else you want to share and you can always say that you were signposted to the server by Attikus (which is the name you will find me as on the Grimoire).Once you have reacted to the rules and posted an introduction – you will get the “Townsfolk” role on the server which will allow you to see the channels.
Go to “Channels and Events” and I suggest you select “Server Event Notifications” and “Community Event Notifications”. If you don’t mind getting notifications about random games – then you can select pickup players EU friendly & pickup players US friendly – but for community and official games you don’t need to give yourself the pickup roles. Select your pronouns (if you want to) and you can add any other channels you may be interested in.
Then you will now be able to see #official-grim-event-signup channel – this is where you will find the Thursday and Saturday evening events (called "The Grim Goes to Europe / The Grim Goes to Europe (Saturday Edition)" and can click accepted (if you are definitely attending), tentative if you are maybe attending or decline if not attending.
The link to join games is posted into the #current-sessions channel.
Please do continue to come and play in the Thursday & Saturday games – but follow the instructions above to sign up via The Grimoire Discord please.
Thank you 😊
Neil / Attikus.**BLOOD ON THE CLOCKTOWER OFFICAL APP INSTRUCTIONS**:
You will need to register for a free account here https://bloodontheclocktower.com/account/login - login to the account and then click on the link posted in the discord channel called #current-sessionsIf you are playing with us for the first time I recommend logging in as soon as the link goes out (about 15 mins before the game starts) in order to get your camera and mic working within the BOTC official web app.
Once you join the game - you will need to "Take a seat" - you will see a circle of seats - click one of the circles eg "Seat 4" and you will take that seat.
Here is the new official tutorial for how to use the online app to play Clocktower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8vbPIf4VJY&ab_channel=BloodontheClocktower
This is a good video to watch if you are new to the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcXdqWqcELQ - This is a Grimoire video of Trouble Viewing - give it a watch, like and subscribe to the channel!
Other good resources including the official Wiki for the game: https://wiki.bloodontheclocktower.com/Main_Page - this includes tips on how to play (or bluff) every character in the game.
