Date subject to change. Subject to water levels Need more than 50 cfs at East Brimfield gauge. Need 300+ cfs for Box Shop Dam to Westville Lake.
5 miles one way. For experienced paddlers due to rapids. We will be shuttling cars. In at Turner Field, 526 Main Street, Sturbridge. Some rapids. We will go through Sturbridge Village. Go under 52 Farquhar Road, Sturbridge. Little fast water after bridge. Have lunch. We will portage little dam and Class II rapids if they are too rough. Take out: 98 Marjorie Lane, Southbridge, MA before dam. Bring wheels if you have them.
Bring drinks, lunch, dry clothes, sunscreen, rope, hat, sunglasses, bug spray and whatever else you usually carry. We start together, stay together and finish together. If you cannot make the paddle please update your RSVP as soon as possible or you will be marked as a "no show."
PLEASE NOTE THE GROUP'S RULES The organizer is NOT a certified leader or instructor. The organizer only sets the time and place. Each participant is responsible for their own safety and for evaluating all relevant conditions for the trip and determining if skills and equipment are appropriate. Everyone must wear a PFD at all times on the water, regardless of time of year whistles are required. A pump made for kayaking or an alternate bailing device is recommended.

At high water, includes quickwater, river turns with Class I whitewater, small islands, narrow channels, fallen trees.
In at Rail Trail walking path, 8 Sandersdale Road, MA 131 Southbridge, MA. May be short sections of rapids. Continue to Quinebaug Park for lunch. Portage hydro dam waterfall. Out at 622 Fabyan Road, Thompson, CT before dam.

11 miles, one way. Longest, most difficult section.
In at Wayne R. LaFreniere Memorial Park, Killingly CT, 43 Wauregan Road, Killingly CT. Go up river as far as possible. (One mile round trip up and back to LaFreniere Park.) Go down 1.2 miles, to dog park, 69 Quinebaug Drive, Killingly, CT before remnants of Dyer Dam. Portage Dyer Dam if can’t paddle.
**Remnants of Dyer Dam - HAZARD Stay left. Careful on approach to remains of Dyer Dam, 1.2 miles from LaFreniere Launch. Iron rods protrude from concrete on river right. They are invisible at certain water levels and potentially lethal all the time. If you shoot through the notch in the old dam, watch for concrete fragments downstream. At higher flows may not even notice it.
**Remnants of Diagonal Dam - HAZARD Half a mile below Dyer Dam are the remains of an old stone dam running diagonally across the river. It can be runnable on river left; if not, lift over or portage on river right. At higher flows may not even notice.
**Remnants of Wauregan Dam - HAZARD Wauregan Dam is another tricky spot with hazardous iron rods at certain flows. Stay left to avoid the rebar and spikes in the timber cribbing. Old dam located where river narrows, 600 ft. above Route 205 bridge. At higher flows may not even notice it.
Lunch at Fish Hatchery, 141 Trout Hatchery Road, Plainfield, CT
The 4.75 miles to Manship Park is somewhat less challenging than the miles above the hatchery, but there are several stretches of white water.
With moderate flows, this stretch of the river moves swiftly with broad, powerful current. With moderate flows of 300 to 500 cfs on the USGS stream gauge at Putnam, CT, rocks are showing, the rapids are passable and to Manship Park will take around four hours. With flows of 1000 cfs or more, it can be two-hours. At high water, spray skirts needed. If gauge lower than 300 cfs, need to walk at times. Out at Robert Manship Park off Lovell Lane in Canterbury, CT.

About 6 miles one way. For experienced paddlers due to rapids. We will be shuttling cars.
Four portages, possibly five, bring wheels. Class I and possible Class II rapids.
Start at end of Biscuit City Road off of 3882 RI Route 2 in Richmond, RI at the parking area on the north side of the railroad tracks.
End at Jay Cronin launch site, 598 Church Street, Richmond, Alton Carolina Road/Route 91
