Ely Friends is for anyone who’s ever spent a night in on their own wishing they were out doing something more exciting, or for those who’ve sat in the pub looking at the group of friends, wishing they could join them.

We bring together people from the local area to make friends and have fun. We’ve regular events, including pub quizzes, board game nights, pub nights, breakfasts and trips to Boogie Nights in St Ives. In between there are cinema trips, meals out, book talks and walks.

We’re welcoming and friendly, and open to all ages. Male or female, single or married. If this sounds at all tempting please sign up - it’s free.

We simply expect:
1. A recent, clear photo (so event hosts can spot and welcome you)
2. Up to date RSVP’s (waiting for no-shows ruins an event for everyone else)
3. Understanding that hosts are volunteers (trust their experience, don't argue self motivated changes)
4. You pay your own way (we don’t charge for events, but don't leave unpaid drink/food tabs)
5. You make your own way (fine to ask members for lifts, but don't expect or demand)
6. No private messaging before you've met at an event (we’re not a dating site!)

- Suggesting events on our discussion boards to determine interest (it can't clash with an existing event or financially benefit yourself - charities are fine)

Welcome to Peterborough Friends. We have been getting people off their sofas and out of the house since 2015. Firstly, we are not a singles, dating website, we are a social group. We welcome friends from anywhere of any age, whether you are single, in a relationship or married. We eat out, drink, laugh, walk, dance, party, go to the theatre and even go on holidays. The group has events to suit anyone of any age. If you are fed up of staying in, wasting your time on dating websites and social media or just lonely then please give the group a try. Scroll through our calendar and see the many varied events planned for this year. If you are interested in an event then please sign up to it so that myself and the other members can look out for you. Can I please ask that you bring cash when attending meals out as it makes it easier to pay the bill and means that the waitress does not have several small card payments for one booking. All meals will require a £5 deposit. This is to secure your place. If you cannot attend for a genuine reason I will transfer the deposit to another event, however if you cancel on the day of the event this will not be refunded. In the event of a meal being cancelled the deposits will be refunded. If I have asked for your deposit and you have not sent it I will move your name on to the waiting list until it has been received. If you RSVP for a theatre trip please send the full payment to me straight away as I have to book tickets for these events promptly so that we can all sit together. Lifts and travel can be shared so please don't be afraid to ask. Just post a comment on the event to see if anyone can help. Please do not contact people directly for lifts unless you have made friends with them. If you are free during the day we meet on Mondays at 11am and Thursdays at 2pm at Central Park. We meet outside the Willow Cafe in the centre of the park. If the weather is bad we still meet for coffee. These are gentle walks but if you would rather just come for a chat and a coffee please arrive at 11.30 and I will meet you in the cafe. If you prefer a longer walk then please sign up for Mark's alternate Sunday and Wednesday evening walks. MEMBERSHIP You will need an up to date photo of yourself to join this group. This is so I can recognise you at events. You will be removed from the group if you refuse to do this. It is helpful if you add a surname as we are a large group and this will make it easier for me. You are welcome to try out the group for free but after two events the cost is £25 for the year, via bank transfer to M J James, Halifax 11-07-34 00228953 ref "sub" or you can pay cash at any event where I have a receipt book. This cost covers the website charges, some of my expenses and allows me to run the group on a full time basis. This amount is non-refundable. If you do not attend your first event for six months your membership will be cancelled unless the subscription payment is received. Lockdown Friends

As I do not have the time to run a walk every weekend at the moment, I am leaving other walk leaders to list events of their choice on the Peterborough Walking Meetup Group. And some regulars have already formed various groupings of their own, due to the restrictions placed on us at this point in time.

In the meantime I will be running occasional walks on this group. As we need to abide by current guidelines, these will only involve small numbers. For that reason I will only be granting membership to people who I already know. And in particular, those who don't have others they can walk with at this time.

Cambridge Chamber Music with New Horizons String Orchestra

This is a musical playing experience for anyone interested in playing music with Eclectic Concert programs and a wide ranging repertoire from Baroque through Classical , Romantic and through to the present day. From collaborative small groups to our Ensemble and the New Horizons String Orchestra we have projects that give a New and exciting creative drive to String playing. Projects from Solo Recitals, duets, trios, Quartets and through too our main Ensemble and beyond , come and explore what it is like to play without a conductor or a committee but freely and creatively becoming the musician you wish to be. For example -- Leader ?, Soloist etc -- there is no barrier to progress , just the general acceptance that you can perform to an audience that will fully appreciate what you play ! In All our Concerts we have soloists from within the group and occasionally in addition a guest soloist. Non are paid and all members contribute to the costs of the Hall ( which has an excellent acoustic). Part of our Sessions are about making great collaborative projects happen but also about building Performances that make Audiences of All ages happy. CCM does at least 5-6 Concerts in a year and 2 or 3 Recitals. There is a great social atmosphere and time given to a communicative freedom. Time to talk and discuss with fellow musicians about building the Performing experience. we consider that those musicians who have exceeded grade 8 ABRSM or have equivalent equivalent musical experience, will benefit most from our various groups and Performances. However there are many who wish to rebuild their playing expertise and regain creativity in their life. Or those who are experienced enough to immerse themselves in our much wider string playing repertoire. Currently we are particularly looking for new members for our New Horizons String Orchestra, and are looking at Joiners coming to 1 complete session during the period middle of September -- until 1st Weeks of October. As well as violinists, violas and cellists and Bass Players we will require at least 2 Lead violinists -- as our programs are so diverse that this is best for the leader and for our Ensemble or String Orchestra. . Cambridge New Therapeutics Forum (CamNTF)

A scientific forum open to all scientists interested in research and development of new therapeutics in Cambridge and the local area, including scientists at the University, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, CROs, and not-for-profit organisations.
The purpose of Cambridge New Therapeutics Forum (CamNTF) is to promote interactions between scientists at these organisations in order to improve opportunities for biotechnology research and development.
Launched in 2015, CamNTF hosts early-evening meetings open to all scientists interested in research into new therapeutics. These rotate around different organisations located in the Cambridge biotech cluster. Each two-hour session will begin with short scientific presentations and will be followed by networking and snacks (6pm-8pm).
Attendance is free but all attendees must register in advance.
