Payment must be made within 4 weeks of your joining request being accepted to remain a member. Payment should be made to: T cooper 20-27-94 80181102 Please ensure you quote your name as the reference and when joining the group, use your first and last name so that payment can be matched to your joining request. We ask that members ensure they have a clear current profile photograph of themselves so that event hosts, and members, can easily recognise you. This group aims to give us a chance to meet up for some interesting conversations to enrich our lives, and form valuable friendships, and help us learn more about how the world works, as well as having fun. We also ask that members are courteous to each other. Some events, though not many, require a limited number of attendees, so please be sure when accepting an event that you want to, and intend to attend. We realise that circumstances may change closer to the date of the event, so if after accepting you find you are unable to join it, please ensure you change your RSVP to not attending as this will give others a chance to take the place and will also save event hosts looking out for you unnecessarily. Some events may require a deposit to be paid, as an example dinners, so in these instances please be sure to pay the host as soon as possible after accepting. Our intention is always to make everybody welcome and to feel included as part of the group, and we all want to have fun, and belong to a relaxed and friendly social group, so hopefully you decide it’s worth £5! We look forward to welcoming you to Maidstone Friends Food and Wine.

Tunbridge Wells Francophiles - The French Conversation Group

Tunbridge Wells, G5

Tunbridge Wells Francophiles - The French Conversation Group
**Bonjour et bienvenue à bord.** Tunbridge Wells Francophiles -the French Conversation Group has **been in existence for over ten years** and continues to grow and evolve. You will find a warm and inviting group with Members traveling from all over Kent, Sussex, and Surrey to attend our Meetup. We are a very informal, friendly, and jolly group – so please do not be afraid to come along. We will be looking forward to meeting you.  In terms of fluency, **there is a mixture of conversational standards within the Group but, it is preferable to have a minimum level of conversational French** to be able to join in with the discussions, as beginners may struggle. However, this group is by no means intended to be just for those who speak French perfectly: it is also about meeting people and making friends with a mutual interest in France, and things French. Everyone helps each other improve their spoken French in a positive and helpful way that builds confidence in speaking a foreign language. Regardless of your ability, you are very welcome. We meet on a **Monday evening for conversational French** at a restaurant in Tunbridge Wells **every two weeks.** The restaurant has been selected because it has a pleasant ambiance, a good menu at reasonable prices, and is located **near the centre of Tunbridge Wells**, so people can either walk or drive there. Most people have dinner, but some just join us just for a drink and a chat. **We start around 19.30**  and we speak conversational French for most of the evening but when the coffees arrive, we switch back to speaking English for the last 20 minutes or so. We usually finish around 22.00 and at most meetings, we get between 10-18 attendees. Some people are regulars who come to every meetup and others on an ad-hoc basis. We also organise other activities such as going to the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells to see French films or the occasional day trip to France.  We always welcome suggestions from members for other things to do. To cover our fixed costs, such as payments to Meetup head office for the cost of running the website and other incidental costs, **we charge a one-off joining/ membership fee of £5.00 plus a rolling £10.00 subscription charge to cover 5 meetings**, which you then renew to pay for another additional 5 meetings. However, we only ask for payments after your first visit. Please come along and see if our group is for you. If it is and you want to join, then we will ask you for the subscription. We ask that you come to a meeting within the first two months of joining which gives you four opportunities to join us in this period. If you do not come within this period, we will cancel your application but you are very welcome to re-apply and then come when it is convenient for you. **All payments are made by Internet banking** for simplicity. We are a not-for-profit group and after covering our running costs and maintaining a healthy surplus to pay for the next year’s subscription to HQ, we return all excess surpluses back to the regular Members of the Group, usually at Christmas. All funds are accounted for.  **How to join?** Please complete the application form. We require that you post a photo of yourself on your profile. It must show your face as it helps us recognise you on your first visit, so we can meet and greet you. Also, so we can help you on your first visit by seating you next to someone with a similar standard of spoken French, please indicate your level of fluency. If you do not know your level of spoken French, advice is given on this website. [https://www.france-langue.com/french-levels/](https://www.france-langue.com/french-levels/Finally,) Finally, the Group has also agreed that Members cannot use the Group as an opportunity to sell goods or services. **What next?** When we have received your application, please come along to a meeting to see if the group is for you. There is no charge for attending your first meeting. Then if you wish to join us you will need to make your payment of £15.00, you will then have access to the programme of meetings/events. The £15.00 is made up of a one-off joining /membership fee of £5.00 combined with your first subscription of £10 for 5 meetings. After 5 meetings, you then pay again for additional meetings.  Finally, If you would like any further information about our group, please email:  **maggie123meet@gmail.com** or **gareth.meetup@gmail.com**  **Quotes from attendees about Tunbridge Wells Francophiles** These are just some of the comments that we have received about the Group. Carol ***“Thanks to everyone who came along for making it such a fun evening”.*** Marcus ***“A pleasure. Nice to see everyone; good food”.*** Brian ***“I really enjoyed last night. Great to make the acquaintance of new members plus spending time with "old" friends. The group goes from strength to strength”.*** Alan ***“Good fun”*** Jean ***« Really enjoyable evening and my guest enjoyed it too and wants to join us again.”*** **It's a very informal, friendly, and jolly group - don't be afraid to come along!**

W K Social Circle Tunbridge Wells

Tunbridge Wells, G5

W K Social Circle stands for West Kent Social Circle. We are a small local friendly social group that holds events in Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas. The average age range of the group members are 40's to mid sixties but anyone is welcome. We hold events most weekends and some during the week. Most of our events are close to Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge but we also organise day trips to the coast. We offer a range of activities ranging from eating out at local restaurants, quiz evenings, cinema and theatre trips to the odd game of crazy golf. We hope to see you at an event soon. Please note we also operate a WhatsApp group if you are interested. If you are keen to attend any events please book in via Meet up or the official WhatsApp group, not directly to the event organiser as this confuses those coming. **ATTENDANCE** We recommend that you try to come along within the first 10 weeks of joining. If you are shy or reluctant for whatever reason, contact one of our event hosts and we'll help you attend by meeting you outside the venue. Be aware that we are starting to actively manage our members list and will consider removing inactive members to keep our membership count real. You will be able to request to re_join at a later date. THIS IS NOT A SINGLES OR DATING GROUP - This group's prime aim is to organise fun activities for people to enjoy and to enable people to socialise together. Most of our members tend to be single but we also have many couples within the group too. Our main aim is to create a community of people who support each other!

Just Write - Kent & Sussex Writers

Tunbridge Wells, G5

Hi all,

Firstly welcome.

Secondly meet up is quite an expensive platform and we can only afford to limit the group to 50 members due to its prices.

Therefore we have to be quite strict on participation. We are sorry but we really need active members who are going to come along and support other writers. We can’t as a group of fellow creatives support those who just sit on our platform and do not participate. We do not have the funds.

We want to be as inclusive and supportive as we can but we need you to do the same. It’s a two way street.

The group itself is for anyone interesting in writing, all kinds of writing whether its poetry, novel writing, screenplays, flash fiction memoirs, non- fiction etc. It is set up to help and support fellow writers and creatives in a environment where if they wish they can discuss in confidence their current works in progress whatever that may be.

It is to talk and share ideas about writing, share books that help each other progress, find inspiration and just chat about writing.

It is hoped that once established we can locate and share writing competitions for group members, attend literary festivals where we can meet writers and hear what has worked for them, find courses on writing to help improve our writing, and find out about literary agents. Plus it is also hoped that it may be arranged that we could have bestselling authors or literary agents come and visit and talk to us. If we do manage this obviously this could incur an extra charge for that event.

All writers dream about being published and this group hopefully can also share ideas regarding that whether its traditionally published, hybrid or being independently published through Kindle and createspace. <br>

Whatever stage you are at your writing every person who started writing was there once!

Writing can be a lonely occupation or hobby. This group hopes that it will make it a less lonely place. It is a group that is there for you!

Please can all writers join with a true likeness photo of themselves - this is to help event hosts recognise you when you come to a meet up so no animals, cartoons or children will be accepted.

Also please can you answer what type of writing you are doing, have done or would like to do if writing is something that you would like to try out. This is also to help us guide events that may interest writers such as author talks, literary festivals and other such things.

If critquing or giving feedback on another writer's or creative's work please remember constructive critisicm is always good but destructive critisicm is not and treat a fellow writer or creative how you would like to be treated please!

Unfortunately due to the cost of the meet up fees and also the hope in securing a good location we do have to charge a small fee per meet up. That is currently set at £1 per meet up. We have no other charges.

We look forward to welcoming you and really getting on with some good writing and hopefully we can get some good authors to come and visit our group and do some good writers stuff.

We are always looking out also for good quality and totally free venues.

Writing isn’t a lucrative venture as people think but it’s art- it’s painting, painting with words to create pictures.
