Basingstoke Friends Meetup Group

Basingstoke, F2

Basingstoke Friends Meetup Group
Basingstoke Friends Meetup group is a private group for past and present members of Inter-Varsity Clubs (IVC) in Basingstoke and surrounding areas. Our members like to try new things, socialise, meet friends and enjoy a great social life. If you join this Meetup group, you must register with at least your proper first name (no code names permitted) and an email address. This is so that we can approve your request using details from our membership system. Plus you must have a photo that is up to date and clearly of you and preferably a head and shoulders shot (no pictures of scenery, pets or cartoons). The reason a photo is required is so that our members can recognise you at events. If you want to be anonymous, then this group is not for you. More details about Basingstoke Friends are available on our main web site at the address below: **BASINGSTOKE FRIENDS** **[www.basingstokefriends.org.uk](http://www.basingstokefriends.org.uk)** **IF YOU HAVEN'T VISITED OUR MEETUP GROUP IN A WHILE ...** If you haven't visited our Meetup group in the last 6 months and are not known to the organisers, we will remove you from the group. If this happens and you are still interested in Basingstoke Friends, then please click the "Request to Join Us" link and introduce yourself. **MEETUP AND GDPR PRIVACY POLICY** *As a member of this group you should be aware that your Meetup profile & attendance at events is recorded by Meetup. Strictly Social (Formerly Basingstoke Meetup Group)

Basingstoke, F2

Strictly Social (Formerly Basingstoke Meetup Group)
Strictly Social – (Formerly Known as Basingstoke Meetup Group). Basingstoke’s newest social group for fun loving people in their 50s and 60s. (Note – those who fall out of this age bracket will not be turned away, as long as they are sociable and wish to meet new people, make friends, and participate in a range of events.) It is my intention for this new group to be inclusive, therefore sub-groups and cliques will be discouraged. As whilst they are inevitable, they are unhelpful and not conducive to the growth of a friendly group. Proposed events – For the forthcoming year, I propose to offer at least 2 events per month. Sometimes there maybe more. I intend to support our local community through patronising events such as fetes; coffee mornings; amateur dramatics etc. So, expect events as follows: Regular coffee morning (Herriard) Regular club night (TBA) At least one weekend away (TBA) Theatre; meals out; picnics; BBQs; museum visits; exhibitions; lunches At least one event in a member’s home; A trip to London Occasional weekend walks with lunch and a National Trust visit or similar This list is by no means exhaustive. All ideas welcome. Funding – I am sure you will appreciate that very little in this life comes for free. So, I am afraid I have to make an annual charge. Unlike previously, there will be no joining fee. Membership will cost you just £10 per person per until 31 December 2024. No couples discount. You join this group as an individual. Once you join, I will send details of how to pay your membership fees. You will then be able to browse the site and sign up for events. I look forward to receiving your application. Anne

Surrey and Hampshire Walkers

Yateley, F2

Surrey and Hampshire Walkers
Hello and Welcome to Surrey and Hampshire Walkers! This group is for people like to get out walking, enjoy the beauty of the countryside, meet new people and experience friendship, fun and the joy of doing things with like-minded people. We are an active, friendly and very popular group. Our walks vary in length and cater for all. We walk at about 2.5 miles an hour, so are not for those long-distance hikers that want to get from A to B in the fastest possible time. We like to stop, take photos, and we often have a pub visit either halfway or at the end of the walk. You may or may not be aware, that the Meetup Organization charges a rental fee for the group's website. Unlike many other groups, we do not have an annual membership fee.  The rental fee charged for the site and other expenses involved in running the group are paid for by the organisers. Each event takes time to organise and manage, therefore we charge £4 per walk. Members of this group treat each other with the utmost respect and courtesy. Unkind or inconsiderate behaviour won't be tolerated. Please always address the organisers and other members, whether in writing or person, in a polite manner. Aggressive or confrontational behaviour is simply unacceptable and will be dealt with swiftly. The organisers reserves the right to remove any comments that go against our group philosophy. We are volunteers, who are running this group to the best of our ability. People who are overly demanding or just plain rude will be removed from this group. **Please be responsible for yourself. Before you send us an email, ask yourself this: (a) did I actually read the Meetup event description, and (b) could I look this up on the internet myself?**   Like a lot of other groups, we have a No Show rule.   If you RSVP Yes to an event, and do not turn up or let the Event Host know you cannot attend, unless there are extenuating circumstances which are communicated to the Event Host, after the second time this happens we will terminate your membership of the group. Also, the organisers have the right to cancel any members who do not fit with the group. Event Hosts have the right to ask a member to leave the event, if they are obviously affecting the enjoyment of other members. **Please note that under 16's are not allowed on any of our events, sorry!** Most of our walks welcome dogs too and all we ask is that they are friendly and well behaved.  **Please note that dogs must be kept on a lead for the whole duration of the walk and at any pub stops.**  Event Host has the right to ask the member to leave if they feel their dog(s) doesn't fit this criteria. You are responsible for your dog on the walk and must look out for any main roads or hazards. **At all of our events, you take part at your own risk. The Group Organiser or Event Host is not responsible for your safety.** That's the rules done with - all you need to do now is upload a current photo of yourself (this is mandatory, helps Event Hosts to look out for you and helps everyone remember your name) and attend an event of your choice.  (We reserve the right to cancel your membership if no photo or an unsuitable photo is uploaded). Please don't worry about coming along on your own - we've all done it. We give everybody a warm welcome and we look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon!

Basingstoke Cafe-Meetup: Inter-Group and Member Engagement

This is the Basingstoke Coffee and Chat Meetup group for club and Meetup organisers and group members in Basingstoke and the surrounding areas.

Basingstoke Cafe Meetup is a joint initiative between the Basingstoke Cafe Scientifique, Basingstoke Friends, Basingstoke Makerspace and the Basingstoke Transition Town Sustainability Group. The Cafe Meetup aims to create greater group engagement in the local community to improve and elevate the resulting experiences and create new learning opportunities.  We also want to help you both as a club or Meetup organiser and as an event participant. We aim to help you mix with the members of the broader community of  Meetup groups and clubs in the Basingstoke and Central Hampshire area.

We know that great Meetups require care and attention, so we’re here to help you learn about what works best for you and to share events and experiences with the members of other groups.

As a member of the Cafe Meetup group, you’ll learn how to:

• Be part of a Meetup group of passionate members that feels like a family

• Organise your own Meetups where members show up and thrive

• Connect and exchange activities with other local organisers and members, just like you

This Meetup is powered by local volunteers who are passionate about creating more human connections. If you want to join our leadership team, suggest a Meetup event, or host your own, please contact any of the Cafe Meetup Leadership Team.

This is a community space for all Meetup organisers and members. All online and offline behaviour deemed as inappropriate will be moderated by your local Organisers and Meetup HQ.

So what do the founding groups bring to this initiative:

• Basingstoke Cafe Scientifique - Public Science and Technology based talks and events open to all

Basingstoke Friends - Up to £5M Public Liability Insurance for shared events organised by full members

• Basingstoke Makerspace - A large and friendly meeting and making space in their town centre building

Basingstoke Transition Town - Repair Cafe, Climate Change and Sustainability based talks and activities
