Solent Friends

Lee-on-the-Solent, F2

Solent Friends
New to the area, or just looking to expand your circle of friends? This group could be a great place to start. Life events can make it difficult to have a social life and when you do eventually have the time to have one it can be hard to make an effort to do anything. You want to go out but do not know where to go, you feel awkward going to places by yourself - joining Solent Friends will help. (We are not a dating site!). You will have the opportunity to attend regular meet ups at the local places near you. Coffee mornings, pubs, cinemas, live music events, days out, restaurants, and lunches. You will also be able to explore the Solent and surrounding areas through organised walks. The organisers are keen to set up new things so if there is something you fancy doing then let one of them know and opportunities will be explored. Our events are hosted by a friendly organiser or event host, who will be more than happy for you to contact them prior to the event  via the site. We are a non-profit making group but do have to cover our site fees and costs. The membership is £12  pro-rated Jan-Dec and is due by 2nd January. ( or when you join. Please ask for details of how to pay). Throughout the year we have random gifts at some events and at the year end we make a  donation  to local charities.  If you see an event you fancy and are free that day add your rsvp. Please do remember that if your circumstances change to amend your rsvp in good time to allow others on the wait list to fill the space, and please put a message on the site for the host.   Most importantly WELCOME

We look forward to meeting you and sharing in the joy of new experiences Please note this is not a dating site. Over 18s only. Members are responsible for their own safety at all events. Hampshire Hikers

Alton, F2

Hampshire Hikers
Hampshire Hikers is the group for you if you like a 'good' brisk walk, of 9-12 miles, in easy-going and friendly company, and a choice of a wide range of locations in and around the big county of Hampshire. Groups sizes vary, but usually around 20. The average age of the group is 55, going on 18! We try to walk at a ‘brisk’ pace, neither a ‘route-march’ nor an ‘amble’. Walks are led by experienced Walk Leaders. We walk in Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, West Sussex, and East Sussex. There are trips away with a full programme of led walks. Each full walk will have a break for your picnic lunch, and maybe a pause in the morning for your flask of coffee. After each walk, there will be time for a pint or a coffee, and a chat, in a friendly pub, with a roaring fire... or a sunny garden! ***To join the group, you will need to apply through the Meetup channels, and post a recognisable picture of yourself. You will then receive a message asking you to choose prepayment for your chosen number of walks. (£10 for 5 walks, £20 for 10 or £30 for 15) Once payment is received, and you are approved, you will become a member of Hampshire Hikers.*** ***Please note: If you have tried a walk or two and find the group is not for you and you want to leave, you will get a REFUND of your money, less £2 for each walk you have done. Other terms will be in your message.*** Please take a few minutes to read through our ethos and make sure it is right for you, as certain considerations on behalf of both members and Walk Leaders enable the group to run smoothly and happily. 1.     Be respectful and courteous towards the Walk Leader, other members, and people we encounter on our walks. 2.     Walk behind the Walk Leader: they will set the pace for the group, and they know where they are going. Remember, they have worked on, and recced, walks for you. 3.     Be respectful of the rules of the countryside by following the Walk Leader on designated paths and particularly on lanes and stretches of roads, Close gates if you are the last person through. Take nothing and leave nothing. *4.*     Listen to the Walk Leader – particularly at the briefing before the walk. There will be information and instructions to follow for the safety of the group. *However, please note that you walk at your own risk, and you take responsibility for your own health and safety.* 5.     Looking after yourself also means that you bring sufficient food and drink, and wear suitable walking attire, with appropriate footwear and thermals/waterproofs/sun protection. 6.     Dogs are welcome, but they MUST be under your control at all times and used to walking with a group so they do not get under anyone’s feet.  Dogs must be on the lead at appropriate times and when requested. Warnings relating to livestock *must* be obeyed. 7.     Enjoy the walks! Make friends and discover new areas.  Hope to see you on a walk soon, best wishes, Lesley Ann

Hello there! We'd like to welcome you to our Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings hosted locally. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we generally sit on chairs to achieve Yoga, effortlessly and spontaneously. As such no Asanas (exercises) are required, no mat or special clothing. We are all volunteers of a Charity organisation and have many years of experience in offering free Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes. The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous. The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across London most evenings and throughout the UK. The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga! Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, reduce stress and increase wellness. It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it. Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a world wide movement for peace and self awakening. All the meetings and classes are free of any charge. Each week we go through simple meditation techniques, often with guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation. We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body. The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future. Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being.
