Canterbury, G5

25-45 in Canterbury, Folkestone & Thanet
**Welcome to the 25-45 in Canterbury, Folkestone & Thanet Meetup Group!** **About Us** Our group is for anyone between 25 and 45 who would like the opportunity to get out and meet new people in Canterbury, Folkestone and Thanet, and the surrounding East Kent area. Our events include walks around the countryside and coast, pub quizzes, drinks evenings, meals out, trips to attractions and more. New members are always welcome at any of our events. We pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming to all. It can seem intimidating at first to meet a bunch of strangers, but just remember every one of our existing members was once in the same position so they know what it's like and can appreciate the benefits that Meetup has brought to them. **Stay Connected** We look forward to meeting you in person at an event soon! If you have any questions feel free to message one of the group Co-Organisers. [James](https://www.meetup.com/members/341357586/) [Kim](https://www.meetup.com/members/290814196/) [Gavin](https://www.meetup.com/members/286672833/) [Ester](https://www.meetup.com/members/183688936/) We also have several Whatsapp groups to help members stay in touch with each other. The links for these will be supplied on your Welcome message or please ask a group Co-Organizer for the details. Please also check out our Facebook group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/25to45incanterburyfolkestonethanet **Get Involved** Members are also most welcome to organise their own events. Please contact one of the group Co-Organisers if you wish to become an Event Organiser to host events. You will play a key role in the success of this group! **Group Rules** To ensure everyone has a great experience, we ask all members and event organisers to adhere to the following rules: * **RSVP:** Please keep your RSVPs up-to-date. If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP status as soon as you can so that the event host is aware. This allows others to take your spot if the event is full. * **Be punctual:** Arrive on time, especially for events with set schedules such as meals out, where the host may have booked a table at a certain time, or walks where the aim is for everyone to depart on the walk together. If you're running late, please try your best to let the event host know. * **Respect and politeness:** One of this group’s benefits is you can meet and connect with people from a range of diverse backgrounds. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Any harassing or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the group. Please reach out to a group Co-Organiser if you have any concerns. * **Focus on friendships:** Although we fully encourage people to find lasting and meaningful relationships here, whether they be romantic or otherwise, this group is not a dating site and has been set up for the purposes of making friends. Please be mindful of your behaviour to ensure everyone feels comfortable. **Contribution to Costs** The group is free to join and, unless specified, the events are free to attend. We don't run the group for profit, but it does cost us money to have the group on Meetup and we also purchase various bits of equipment for some of the events. Therefore, once a year we kindly request a small contribution, suggested at £6 from each active member. You will hopefully agree it is quite a bargain for what the group offers. Thank you for joining our community. We’re excited to meet you and hope you enjoy our events!

East Kent Rebels 50+
Join us and you'll discover new friends and a varied, active social life. EVENTS Our events include; short and longer scenic walks, meals out, regular pub quizzes, live music gigs, cinema trips, theatre visits, bike rides, river trips and exploring Kent's heritage. We like to listen to our members and will add suitable events on request, so there is something for everyone. WHO WE ARE We refer to ourselves as the “Rebels” as we rebel against any stereotype given to us as we grow older, and we want to attract like-minded people.  So, if you are over 50, have a CT postcode, and want to make new friends, why not come along and join in. SUBSCRIPTIONS and IDENTITY We like Meetup Profile photos that allow others to recognise you at events. We ask new members to pay the £3 Subscription from their own bank account into the group's joint account. (If you prefer to pay cash, you'll need to show the Organizers some form of photo ID). CODE OF CONDUCT … applicable to Members and their Guests. Many of our members have made lasting friendships through our events. Let's keep that happening harmoniously through respect and kindness to each other. • Have equal respect for others, regardless of race, culture, religion, politics, disability, gender, identity and lifestyle. • Disrespectful criticism of others is unacceptable. • Have respect for others’ privacy: don't spread confidential information. • Remove any online photos promptly if anyone photographed requests that. • Have respect for people’s space and safety: do not make unwelcome intrusions. • Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. Kent Socialites

Herne Bay, G5

Kent Socialites
Kent Socialites (KS) is one of the most active  meetup groups in Kent. If you are looking to widen your circle of friends, meet new people and participate in diverse and many affordable activities in Kent, then KS is for you.  Events include walks, night outs, day / weekend trips to Europe, comedy nights, live music, competitions, arts and more. We even have the occasional fancy dress event and pub crawl. You are sure to find something of interest ... if not, then why not suggest one? Members are encouraged to host their own events and some family events are sometimes added.  We rarely cancel an event; maybe less than a handful in 4 years. We certainly don't cancel an event for uneconomic reasons or if the event isn't attracting many rsvps. The organisers are a dedicated group and when an event is published, they really want to attend it. The group is very friendly and is aimed at the 40s - 50s age group, but younger and older members are more than welcome..Whilst we are not a Singles or Dating site, it would be good to have more gender balanced events. All we ask is that you are not a compete 'plank', or a moaning Minnie.  **Remember KS is a SOCIAL GROUP, not a dating site.**  SOME RULES: The group is fairly relaxed ... with few rules, however **we do insist your profile includes a clear photo of yourself and that you live in Kent.** A clear photo is for the safety of all members.  Additionally it is essential that Event Organisers and other members are able to recognise you when you attend events. It is important that members live in Kent to keep the group active and member driven, not relying on a small number of local organisers.  Non-Kent dwellers are most welcome to attend events as guests of members whom they know. We reserve the right to refuse membership where we consider that membership may be to the detriment of the values of Kent Socialites.   We also reserve the right to withdraw membership if any member has 3 'No shows' where they have not turned up for events and not given sufficient notice of cancellation to the event host. We reserve this right even if that member has paid their KS fees. No shows are inconsiderate towards the other members as they waste everyone's time when a whole group could be kept waiting for someone who hasn't changed their rsvp. We reserve the right to withdraw membership if Membership Fees have not been paid. FEES: The membership fee is only £5 per annum and covers the Meetup fees and expenses of running the club.  All remaining monies raised are donated to a charity chosen by the KS members.  KS has donated over £7,000 to charities in the past 4 years.     Our FaceBook Group is here - [https://www.facebook.com/groups/KentSocialites/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/KentSocialites/) So what are you waiting for? Sign up now! Jump on board and we are sure this group will work for you.

Kent Lesbians & Queer Womxn

Canterbury, G5

Kent Lesbians & Queer Womxn
A million welcomes into our little corner of the Meetup community, a place to meet likeminded womxn and non-binary people in the ever so brilliant Kent! This group welcomes all womxn and non-binary people who like womxn and non-binary people! Whatever sexuality you identify as, from lesbian-bisexual-pansexual-queer-gay this group is inclusive. We are also age, ability, race, cultural identity and everything else you can identity as inclusive. We never tell you how to look or identify to attend an event or restrict you narrowly to just identifying as 'lesbian'. Occasionally we might run an event which is specifically targeted as part of our community and if we do that we will always tell you why (an example might be an event centred around black, asian and ethnic minority members, dating for a specific group or for vegans); this is never to exclude you but to connect an even more marginalised membership of our community or where members might share a very specific common interest. We are super friendly, always welcoming to our new and regular members, and no matter who you arrive with or arrive alone, you will most definitely leave with new connections and awesome people to hang out with at future events or meet with outside of the group. I know how daunting it can be to come to your first event. Will anyone talk to me? Will I connect with other members? Will the ground open and swallow me right up? I promise after the first few minutes of nerves, you'll have been greeted by one of our lovely hosts and be made to feel part of the furniture. If you are super nervous please alert your host in advance and I recommend to always arrive at the start when it's slightly quieter and you can get more individual attention from your host. With the sharp decline of bars for queer womxn and non-binary throughout the UK, Meetup really is the best way to network and make new connections. Events will be varied, including food, film, drinks, art (although right now during Covid-19 times were are much more restricted to meeting online). If you would like to organise an event get in touch! We are always looking for diverse hosts who are representative of our awesome community. PLEASE READ To enable us to build a great community please treat any events you sign up to as if you were meeting a friend; unless you have an emergency (sometimes life gets under your feet!), make sure to turn up on time and give plenty of notice if you are unable to attend. It is only courteous. Imagine if you arranged to meet a friend and you never showed up... that friendship wouldn't last long! Please note this is a group for adults (18+) PLEASE DONATE Meetup currently charges organisers $180/year to maintain these event pages on their platform. If you can, please donate just a few pounds to the group host via PayPal (PeachMeetup@gmail.com) when you join to help cover these fees. Those with access to a steady, living income or other wealth are encouraged to donate more. Please do not be deterred from attending if financial hardship prevents you from donating.
