Leicester South was founded by the lovely Ruth C in January 2013 and has grown in numbers ever since. Ruth has managed the group successfully for 2.5 years and in doing so has enabled lots of people to connect and to make new friends, which has been fantastic for most and life changing for some!
Many friendships have been formed, laughs have been had and good times have been enjoyed!
And for all of this, we would like to say....
Ruth has decided to step down as Organizer but remains a good friend and member of Leicester South and we hope to see her at some of our future events.
We now have a new team of existing members who have volunteered to take on the roles of Organizer and Event Hosts and our aim is to put on a wide variety of events and to continue to attract new members.
We will be continuing with all the regular, fun events which we have all grown to love and enjoy but we have some new and exciting events we are planning for the future too, so....
Leicester South welcomes new members of any age and from any nationality or background who wish to connect and make new friends with like-minded people.
We are a very friendly bunch and will always lookout for new members and personally welcome them into the group, so if you would like to attend your first event with us, or have not been to an event for a long time, there is no need to hesitate, you will soon be chatting and laughing along with the rest of us.
Membership Fees
As some of you are aware, there is a cost involved for us to use the meetup site and so far these costs have been met by some of the regular members chipping in to keep the group going. To make this fairer for everyone from 1st August 2019 new and existing members are asked to pay an upfront amount of £5.00 which will cover their membership until 31st July 2020.
New members (& guests of members) will not be charged anything for their first 2 events with us, however, the £5 charge will become payable from the 3rd event they attend with Leicester South.
All monies collected from membership fees will be used to pay the on going costs to use the site, booking fees at some of the events, deposits for events and other sundry items we need for certain events.
None of the Organisation Team benefit financially in any way from the membership fees and we all pay the same fees as all other members.
We give our time and energy free of charge because we enjoy being part of Leicester South :)
