Yorkshire Walkers (Meet-Up) Group
**PLEASE READ!!** Hi and Welcome! My name is Martin and I have many years experience of leading walks through the wonderful Yorkshire landscape. I have led a wide variety of walks ranging in distance from 3-12 miles with groups of varying sizes. The Group itself was launched in April 2019 and I run it on a full-time basis. As of Jan. 2024, I have led 500 walks since the Group was launched and all walking routes are recce'd. The aim of this Group is to provide a range of walking options covering weekday and weekend walks including short half-day walks of up to six miles (on weekdays), evening walks during the lighter months and weekend walks of normally 7-10 miles but occasionally longer. Each walk will finish with an optional tea room or a nice pub! The walks take place in a wide variety of locations within Yorkshire’s borders including our two National Parks, the Wolds, Howardian Hills & the East Coast, Nidderdale & the general areas of Harrogate, Leeds & York plus more besides! My walks are led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. **WHO IS THIS GROUP SUITABLE FOR ?** \* Adults who are reasonably fit and healthy and can walk at a steady (not slow) pace. \* Sorry but dogs are not permitted on any walks. **GUESTS:** \* Members can bring along a guest providing they have added them to their own RSVP. \* Please ensure you keep your ‘guest RSVP’ up to date, just as you would for your own RSVP. \*Late withdrawals (48 hours or less before the walk) should be avoided, if at all possible. \*Your guest should be made fully aware of the walk details/pace and be comfortable with this.   \*If a guest wishes to attend a second walk, they must join the Group before doing so, remembering that their profile should include their name, location (village or nearest town) and a clear, recognisable photo of themselves. **WALK FEES** There is no joining fee or annual membership fee, you simply pay a small fee each time you attend a walk: £3 per walk for the longer walks, with a lower fee of £2 charged on walks of less than six miles. Fees are payable in cash at the start of the walk. From the monies taken, I have to cover all Group costs including those accrued in both leading the walks and doing the recce's as well as ongoing charges for operating the Group's website. You will also note that the variety of walks on offer cover a wider geographical area than is the norm. **CAVEAT** I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the Group and don't go off ahead even if you think you know the route. **PLEASE NOTE:** It is the responsibility of individuals to consider bringing first-aid supplies with them as none will be provided by the Walk Leader. **ADDITIONAL SERVICES** Members may request copies of the walks I lead, for their own use. I'm happy to provide copies using my own printer for a fee of £2/£3 per copy, dependent on how much printing is involved. This fee reflects the high cost of printer ink! **OTHER INFO** **1: Pre-conditions for Membership** \* The application process requires a clear, recognisable photo of yourself, your name and location (town/village). \* Please ensure your Meet-Up settings are correctly set up, in order that you may receive BOTH Group e-mails & notifications that are sent out by myself (as the 'Organiser'). In order to do this, go into your Meet-Up profile and ensure the appropriate boxes are ticked. Please note, you may find that you are unable to make amendments via a mobile phone. \* Its possible to customise your settings so for instance, you can receive comms. from myself (as Group Organiser/Owner) whilst blocking all other Meet-Up comms. You can also have different settings for individual Meet-Up Groups. **2: Reasons for Cancelling Membership** \* Registering for a walk and not turning up. If you change your mind or are unable to attend a walk, simply change your RSVP. Group policy is that two 'no-shows' results in membership being cancelled although each 'no-show' will be considered on its individual merits.   \* The membership database will be monitored and managed on an ongoing basis to ensure the membership numbers reflect those who are attending walks. New members will generally be given three months to attend their first walk.   \* If your membership is cancelled, you are free to reapply for membership at any time, if the reason for cancellation is simply down to not registering for any walks during a specific period of time. However, you will only be able to rejoin once for this reason!

York Social Group

York, J7

York Social Group
Whether you're new to the city, lived here all your life, or you're just visiting - this is the group to join to meet some great people and enjoy some of the best events that Yorkshire has to offer. York Social Group was established in June 2021 with the mission to create a welcoming and dynamic community that strives to reduce loneliness by fostering meaningful connections among the people of York. We are committed to providing a range of accessible social opportunities that help individuals, especially those in their 20s and 30s, to easily meet new people and feel intergrated within the community. Radiating warmth and inclusivity, we pride ourselves on curating a safe space that upholds equality and respect. If support for women's and LGBTQIA+ rights doesn't align with your values, we kindly encourage you to explore other avenues. ### Two-Strike Policy 1. **First Strike: Warning** * Certain behaviors will result in a first strike, which serves as a warning. Examples include: * Unwanted attention or persistent communication after being asked to stop. * Making inappropriate comments or jokes that make others uncomfortable. * Disruptive behavior at events, such as excessive intoxication. 2. **Second Strike: Suspension** * If a member receives a second strike, they will be suspended from the group. This is to protect the safety and comfort of all members. Examples include: * Repeatedly violating group norms after a first strike. * Ignoring feedback or requests to modify behavior. 3. **Immediate Suspension:** * Certain behaviors will result in immediate suspension without a first strike. These behaviors are severe and can significantly impact the safety and well-being of others. Examples include: * Physical assault or threats of violence. * Harassment, including sexual harassment. * Hate speech or discriminatory behavior against any individual or group. Members are encouraged to report incidents using our **[Anonymous Reporting Form](https://forms.gle/ppzpZoJDApi7orjT7)** or by contacting the group organizers directly. ### Donations While all our events are free, we do encourage donations if you've been a couple of times and enjoy it as it is unfortunately not free to run. For transparency, York Social Group costs around £50/month to run and donations currently cover 20% of this. Please consider a small monthly or one-off donation around the price of a coffee or pint. Use this link to donate if you can: [https://donate.stripe.com/fZecOP6IyggX9pu289](https://donate.stripe.com/fZecOP6IyggX9pu289) If you have any questions or concerns then please get in touch with the group owner (Alistair MacLeod) or one of the other event organisers.

York 20s Social Group

Hello everyone!

A Meetup group for young people in York. Are you in or around your twenties? Perhaps you've moved here for work, perhaps you've always been here but your friends have moved elsewhere? Or have you recently graduated and you're just not sure what to do with yourself?

The first step is joining the meetup. All of our events will be posted on the meetup site, so make sure you are a member there and you can see the full range of our events available. Which leads us nicely to...

...The second step! Deciding which of our awesome events you would like to attend!

The third and hardest step is turning up to that first event, but don't worry we have all been there! I promise you all the regulars are just as nervous and excited to meet you as you are them! If you are nervous then feel free to join our facebook group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/York20sSocial/

On there you can write a message to say hello to our members, or you can simply just have a look and see if you are mutual friends with anyone in the group.

As an organizer group we love newbies, and the best events are always the ones with lots of new faces. If you are nervous about your first event then feel free to post on the event or direct message an organizer and we will do everything we can to help you make the most of the meetup.

We are an active group that thrives on participation, our events are only as fun as you make them! If there is an event or meetup you would like to host then speak to an organizer at one of our regular events and they will happily assist you.

As an organizer group we are committed to providing fun and friendly events for all our members and enabling everyone to feel safe and secure in all of our activities. If you have any concerns about attending any events please email us. We have a zero tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour, if at any our events you are made to feel uncomfortable or at risk by another member or if you have received unwarranted direct messages from anyone, please contact us and we will deal with the matter conscientiously and confidentially.
