Amigos in Wrexham
50 plus friends - men and women 50 más de amigos - hombres y mujeres AMIGOS! 👫 a motivated inspirational group of simpaticos Amigo! 💁‍♂️ a friend, especially a male friend Amiga! 💁‍♀️ a female friend Simpatico! 🙂 amiable; congenial or like-minded; likeable 🚶🏼‍♂️🚶‍♀️☕ 🍰 🍺🍷🍜🍴🍕🍦🎬 🎶🎸🎤🏇 🎳 Are you self aware and a fairly relaxed person? Do you know what motivates or inspires you? For me it's meeting up with and getting to know other people that have imaginative ideas and who share similar interests and values to our own. Internet dating sites and social media mean the opportunity to connect with people from a diverse range of backgrounds has never been easier. Yet it can be hard making new friends as we get older. More so if you are especially looking to meet like-minded individuals. I'm aware that it's up to ourselves to make things happen in life though. So I decided to set up this group aimed at the over 50's to 60 somethings who might just want to connect socially and get out more. If you're a later generation baby boomer who watched the live Moon landings as a kid, remembers the birth of glam rock or the later disco, punk, and new romantic music movements, we're probably in the same ballpark age wise. Maybe you might also know the difference between Alias and Alas Smith and Jones? 🤔 How though do we know if we have much more in common with others? I think the short answer is no-one really does. At least until we get to know someone fairly well. We don't all like doing the same things do we? So, is there a particular interest you have that you are passionate about? What is it you really enjoy doing? Why not share your enthusiasm or knowledge, and enjoy real experiences with others who might be simpatico to you. We all have differing opinions which don't always agree with other people's, but I think this is a good thing sometimes too. I know myself that I don't have too much time for Tories, I doubt we would share many similar values and so would probably find we weren't very likely simpaticos. What?! I am just being honest and genuine and I also like to think I'm self aware. So what about you? That's what's interesting to me. What is it that you are like? Like to chat? Good listener? Don't generally follow the crowd but instead prefer to make up your own mind about things? Naturally curious and know how asking questions often makes for good conversation? Who what why where when how? Is it true that?...whatever. Does this mean anything to you? If so I think we may be on similar wavelengths. Being happy in life is important and I think we all need space sometimes where we can just enjoy doing our own thing. I am no different in that respect. But I think most of us realise our most fondly remembered experiences will often have been when spending time together doing and sharing things with others. Fancy a trip to the cinema to watch a movie the critics rate worth seeing? Enjoy going along to gigs and listening to live music? Like to travel and discover new places? Prefer more local undemanding shorter walks? Perhaps a day out at the races might interest you? Maybe you are into a number of things that you just generally like doing. I'm sure that most of us will share some ideas and mutual interests. Finding out which ones though and who we share them with is just half the fun. Ask yourself if you prefer a simple get-together with just a few friends, or do you really enjoy mixing and connecting with much larger groups? Are you more at ease when chatting one-to-one? Early bird or night owl? We are all different so each to their own. I am happy and confident just being myself. I'm definitely not an extrovert but I usually find I mix and chat easily with most people. It's all about how we interact with one another though. Some people are fine in any situation while others may be more anxious and not feel entirely comfortable. Sometimes it can be good to explore new experiences that we're not familiar with. By getting involved I'm sure over time we will find events that we can all enjoy. The group is free to join and you may attend your first event at no cost. However, attending any further events and wishing to remain a group member, will subsequently incur a one-off fee of £5 payable immediately. Ongoing annual membership is also £5 and is due on December 1st. It's not important, but just in case anyone was wondering? No, you don't need to speak, learn or understand the lingo, or even know a word of Spanish to join up! You're welcome. De nada! Adiós 😉 HASHTAG!# 🤔 have a suggestion how to arrange get-togethers? 😃 LIKES!👍life is kinder essentially shared 🙂

Personal Development in Chester

Personal Development in Chester

This Meetup is for anyone who is looking for a different, deeper conversation, one that goes beyond the surface of TV, celebrities, newspapers, sport etc. It’s for people who are interested in life design and understanding more about how we can be the best version of ourselves while still being happy with who we are. For me, I love asking questions that make me and others think… What is the purpose of my life? What makes us happy & how can we do/be/have more of that? What have you learned recently that’s changed how you think? What books and podcasts have you been reading/listening to? What’s your favourite quote? Are we being the best version of ourselves and if not what's stopping us? Can we help each other to help ourselves?
What about some fun, this is all a bit serious & deep. Let’s do something fun, meaningful, kind, different, positively scary! Anything but walking around asleep, lost, on autopilot. Let's inspire each other.
Let's create something that we wouldn't or couldn't do alone or do something like go for a walk as a group with great conversation, just because it feels so much better to do things together with people who share similar values. Not sure where this is going but I feel I could write a book. Why don't I? 😂
I know what I just said will sound a bit too airy fairy to most but if you're still reading this far and this tugs on a few strings of curiosity or awakens something inside then join me for some... 'I don't know what'? Experimentation! Deep discussion? Half marathon?! Some volunteering? A walk in the mountains? A cup of tea with some thought provoking questions? Vision boards? – Yes I did say vision boards!! BUT followed up with a plan, some dates and accountability for those that want it! My reason for starting the group is just to connect with more likeminded people and make some new friends, hope to see you soon x

Heart and Soul Community Singers, Chester

Chester, Y1

Heart and Soul Community Singers, Chester
Heart & Soul Community Singers have been meeting for many years but found a new name during the pandemic. We sing simple but beautiful songs about the heart and soul of human experience; joy and sadness, hope and grief and everything in between. We co-create community with each other through singing together and generally leave sessions feeling nourished, uplifted and connected. We enjoy heartening the community around us by singing in public spaces and hold a mixture of indoor and outdoor sessions. We are always open to new members; no experience needed, there are no auditions and no expectation to sign up for any specified length of time. We aim to be accessible to anyone who wants to sing with others; there is no music to read; all songs are taught by ear at a gentle pace and newer and less confident singers have the support of those more experienced. We run several sessions throughout the week, some themed. All members are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they can/wish to. Monday, Thursday and Sunday sessions cover a wide range of songs from various cultures and traditions. Monthly Saturdays we Sing for the Earth or drop into Sacred Song. Fridays is Taize chants in Chester Cathedral. There are payment options for pay per session or a monthly subscription and we are happy to negotiate reductions for those on low incomes. We are led by Ella Speirs, an experienced Natural Voice Practitioner and group facilitator, who is supported by many members who help in big and small ways to ensure things run smoothly. If this appeals you are very welcome to come along anytime and try your first session for free. NB We have been singing throughout the pandemic and have developed good covid safe practices which we respectfully ask all singers to follow.

Be Active Be Social

Wrexham, Z4

Be Active Be Social

My happiest moments in life are when I’m doing ‘stuff’ with like minded people, not taking life seriously and having fun. But sometimes it’s tricky to find the people to do ‘stuff’ with when you’re available and so it can be tough to motivate yourself to be active and social. So, this group aims to bring like minded people together to do stuff with in Wrexham and the surrounding area.

Although I started this group, I want it to belong to the community. Therefore, other people may organise ‘stuff’ and invite you to come along.

I am a spontaneous ‘planner’ so anything I add is likely to be last minute. I’ll also add notes and updates so please check Meetup regularly if you don’t want to miss my activity.

Id like this group to have good friendship etiquette so please be punctual, keep us updated, or cancel if you are unable to attend activities.

Note: There are no charges. However, the fees to use this platform need to be covered so contributions towards costs maybe requested prior to each gathering. Any surplus will always be donated to local charities.

We also have a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/391347518436598/

This is an informal group, a group of like minded people using a platform to organize get togethers. It is not a formal group (e.g. there are no leaders, no experts, no insurance or anyone to compliment or complain to!). You must take responsibility for researching an activity, deciding if it’s appropriate for you and being responsible for ensuring you’re adequately prepared so you can look after your own health and safety. Hosts/organizers cannot be held liable as they are individuals inviting you to an activity they have planned as a friend. Finally, usual caution with respect to using any social media platform should be used. Thanks!
