Ventura County Kirtan By Spirit Soul And Friends™

Ventura County Kirtan By Spirit Soul And Friends™
Hello spirit soul! Welcome to Ventura County Kirtan Mantra Meditation By Spirit Soul And Friends™ - A Musical Peace Troupe! We are delighted that you have visited us today. This wonderful MeetUp group is created to keep you in touch with Kirtan Mantra Meditation events in Ventura County and surrounding areas. We look forward to chanting with you at the incredible events that are forthcoming. **WHAT IS KIRTAN?** *Kirtan* is when more than one person gets together to joyously sing or chant various Mantras.  *Man* means mind, *Tra* means that which frees.  A mantra is a sound vibration that frees or delivers the mind from its attachment and preoccupation with worldly matters, and focuses it on the Supreme.  Every day we hear sounds that increase our attachment and preoccupation with worldly matters, so obviously not just any sound is a mantra. Only words that have the spiritual potency to free us from material conditioning are Mantras.   The only words with that spiritual potency are any sound coming from God such as His Names and Words because they are nondifferent from Him, and are as pure and purifying as God Himself. Kirtan is completely non-sectarian and non-denominational because the universal principle for spiritual reawakening through singing the Names of God is recommended in the Bible (both Old and New Testaments), Koran and Vedic Scriptures. Kirtan is a spiritual tool to purify one's consciousness and bring the soul real peace and happiness; *Peaceful individuals create a peaceful society.* **There Should Never Be a Charge For Kirtan** According to Yoga texts, it is forbidden to charge for Kirtan and teaching spiritual truths because these should be freely available to everyone, not just those who can afford it. Therefore, we do not list on this MeetUp any kirtan events that require payment for admission. Taking part in or learning about Kirtan has nothing to do with having enough money, having a melodious voice, or becoming a professional kirtan leader, singer or musician.  Anyone can chant, sing, dance and participate in Kirtan at no cost—so bring yourself, children, family, friends and musical instruments! We look forward to seeing you and your family at one of the many upcoming events. **Kirtan is universally recommended** **Kirtan is a joyous celebration** **Kirtan is a living, moving meditation** **Kirtan is the path to Peace** **Kirtan opens the door to Love** Aloha and Namaste,  Patita Pavana / Director Of Community Events for [Spirit Soul And Friends™ - A Musical Peace Troupe](https://www.spiritsoulandfriends.com)

Ventura County LGBTQ+ Meetup

Ventura, CA

Ventura County LGBTQ+ Meetup
If you are new to the Ventura County area or have lived here forever and just need to expand your circle of LGBTQ+ friends, join us! This is an inclusive group for singles, couples, other pairings, and families of all ages interested in meeting other LGBTQ+ folks, making new friends, or just checking out some fun activities. Queer folks from Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles County, or surrounding counties are also welcome to join! If you would like to be an event organizer, please message me (AJ) and let me know. Hope to meet you soon! Here is an article you might want to read before attending our events. We are non-binary-, gender fluid-, genderqueer-, and trans-friendly, so please be prepared to respect all of our members if you attend our events. TERF Wars: Why trans-exclusionary radical feminists have no place in feminism (Breaking down the truths and fallacies of what TERFs believe.) https://www.dailydot.com/irl/terf-meaning/ Please note: You will attend all events and activities at your own risk. None of the organizers can be held responsible for any injuries, damages, or any other occurrences that might happen at an event. Please read these guidelines before attending in-person or online activities. If something is not clear, message AJ with any questions. The main goals of creating these group guidelines are to maintain a safe space where people feel comfortable and welcome and to hold a queer space where we can just be social or have constructive, educational, community-building conversations. 1.      Keep it light and social. This is just a social group and not a therapy group. If you are in search of a therapy group, contact the Diversity Collective for recommendations. 2.      No means no. If someone does not want to share or participate in an activity, do not push them or repeatedly ask questions. Everyone has the right to pass during an activity or can let the event organizer know they would like to pass beforehand. 3.      Celebrate the right to self-determine names, genders, and pronouns. Do not ask personal questions about current or past identities. 4.      Do not out anyone about anything. If you know personal information about someone, do not talk about it without their permission or if they have not introduced the information into the conversation. 5.      We will not tolerate intentional deadnaming, misgendering, ableism, racism, sexism, sizism, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, or any other bigotry. When unintentional or misguided incidents occur, let’s be sure to be kind, specific, and helpful as we call the person in rather than calling them out. 6.      When political discussions take place, keep communication open and positive. Avoid name-calling, making it personal, or attacking other members. 7.      Respect your boundaries. If you are not comfortable with the conversation in an online group or with behaviors at an in-person group, speak up or let the event host know so that they can manage the situation. 8.      Allies may attend activities with a queer chaperone. 9.      Please do not post photos from events without permission from the folks in the photos. 10.   We do not charge membership dues for this group. Donations to help cover the costs of the group are welcome, but they are not required.
