Hiking with Doggos

Canton, CT

Hiking with Doggos
Meet other local dog loving hiking enthusiasts as a group of friends exploring, learning, and having fun on the trail in the Canton/Collinsville/New Hartford/Unionville/Avon area and surrounding areas. Each week there will be two different hikes, once during the week in the late afternoon early evening, and once in the morning on the weekend. Even if you don't have a dog you are welcome to attend providing you like canine companions. Some hikes are slower-paced nature walks while other hikes are faster-paced and more challenging. This group will hike trails of varying difficulties and distances. **Liability:** A dog's owner or keeper is liable for any damage caused by his dog to a person's body or property, unless the damage was sustained while the person was committing a trespass or other tort, or teasing, abusing, or tormenting the dog. The law presumes that anyone under the age of seven was not committing a trespass or teasing the dog unless the defendant can prove otherwise (CGS § 22-357). If damage has been caused by two or more dogs at the same time, their owners or keepers are jointly and severally liable for the entire damage (CGS § 22-356). **Disclaimer:** Hiking with Doggos (HWD) strives to ensure a safe environment during all activities. While safety is a priority, HWD has no control over the condition of the trails. Hikers hike at their own risk. HWD shall not be held liable for any damage(s) hikers or their dogs incur while at an HWD-organized event/activity (including, but not limited to, HWD Hikes). All hikes are organized as a group. HWD asks all individuals to stay with the group. HWD shall not be held responsible for hikers/dogs who become lost. Hikes may be steep or have difficult terrain. New hikers should consult a physician before starting any exerting activities. HWD reserves the right to discern if a dog should be leashed and owners (group or individual) may be asked to do so. Owners should be aware of any property laws for hikes and are responsible for any and all fines and damage(s) incurred by themselves and/or their dog(s). Ps. I’m Amber, and I’m a professional photographer so I’ll always have my camera with me. If you prefer not to be in a shot just let me know ahead of time. 😊

Horror Book Club - Elite (with SOME Fantasy)

Canton, CT

Horror Book Club - Elite (with SOME Fantasy)
We are the select group that is **superior** in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of every horror group, horror book club, or horror society. We are not for the weak. 😈 - if you have to ask yourself if you are an *elite*, then you are not an *elite*. This group will read 1 horror novel a month, longer if needed. You will be required to buy the book prior to our start date of reading it. We will meet once a month to discuss the book that we have read and express our opinions, likes, dislikes, etc. Essentially, we will get together and talk about the book, and have everyone share their ideas and perspectives. In addition, there may be message board questions/prompts to see where everyone is at prior to meeting in person. Going forward we will do a vote to pick the next horror book to read. Meetings are held at a local cafe or library... we can all decide on that together. **Group Norms:** \- Make your best effort to complete the book \- Come ready to both share AND listen  \- Be ready to back up your opinions with the "Why"  \- Self\-censor  \- Have a great time — if you stop enjoying it\, let the leader \(me\) know ***Please note***, we are also located on Facebook at [Collinsville Connecticut’s Horror Book Club - Elite | Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/connecticutshorrorbookclubelite). Please join our Facebook group for a more interactive setting where we will discuss our favorite books, horror book news, and horror book/book fairs, etc. !!

Litchfield CT LGBTQplus Hiking & Social Events Meetup Group

Litchfield, CT

Litchfield CT LGBTQplus Hiking & Social Events Meetup Group
Hello! My goal and hope for this group are to bring the LGBTQ+ community together with folx who want to enjoy our beautiful outdoors here in Western CT and to meet and build fun connections. This will be a safe space where folx from all walks of life, shapes and sizes, and fitness levels come together to explore the amazing trails right in our back yards. The pace of these hikes will be set by the slowest hiker (and that will probably be me) with a group that is supportive and encouraging. This group will offer opportunities for folx who want to get in better physical shape, build confidence and do so amongst an inclusive community. I moved to CT having lived in the Boston area for over 30+ years in November 2019 and landed in Litchfield in October 2020. I have been able to explore this amazing trail-filled area a bit but need more motivation. I know if I coordinate and organize regular trips it will force me to get out there and do what I love to do. I will strive and commit to setting up regular trips. In full transparency, I have lost my previous fitness level and want to spend 2022 building and strengthening it back. So, these hikes will start out easy and move to more moderate level hikes. The hikes will be within a 3–4-hour time frame and longer over time. If you are an advanced and fast hiker this may not be the group for you. At the same time, if you want to spend time with good company and can go at the set pace, absolutely, please join us.

Singles Social Connections

Bristol, CT

Singles Social Connections
Hi There, Singles Social Connections' goal is to give singles the opportunity to have fun and increase their circle of friends. We sponsor numerous activities such as dances, house parties, walks, and picnics. We offer a relaxed, comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for you and other singles to socialize and have fun. Many singles attend events as we also advertise in newspapers and other singles venues. You'll find that we are an intelligent, friendly, fun loving group of singles in our late 40's, 50's, and 60's. Many other singles attend events besides the Meetup members that respond. This is because we also advertise our activities in newspapers and have our flyers at other single events in the area. Come join us at one of our events and find out for yourself! Annual dues are $40 and the club’s membership year is from January 1st to December 31st. It includes reduced event fees and emails on upcoming events. You do not have to pay membership dues to come to any event. If someone reserves for an event and does not show up or cancel, a 'No Show' will be put after their name. The number of 'No Shows' will appear after their name for other organizers to see when they are scheduling an event. Once someone has 3 'No Shows,' they will be blocked from attending any Singles Social Connections' future events. So, please cancel your reservation ASAP when you find that you cannot attend an event. Thanks. See you at an event, Gail 😊
