The group will serve to foster exploration for the many interests everyone has, open to movies, coffee shop hangouts, yoga, walks, gentle movement, throwing frisbee/ball in one of the many parks, especially with the air cooling down, etc. Only request is no cigarette, vaping, perfume worn around the group, as this group is intended to be welcoming for those with chemical sensitivities and chronic illness, who are sometimes left on the outskirts. Also, if you’re sick, please feel free to join us once you’re feeling well again! Otherwise, bring your board games, favorite music, crafts, stories, and smile! It is a truism that in order to make friends, you have to be a friend. This sounds so simple, but it is a lot more than it sounds. Here is a list of 10 things to help you be a friend: * **Enjoy people** – Tell yourself, “I'm going to try to enjoy this conversation.” Loosen up. * **Express** – Don't hide who you are. Tell people the first thing you think about. Let them know your thoughts. * **Hear them out** – People are sacred. They deserve your full attention and understanding. Take care and take time to hear them out. * **Share** – Share your food, share your time, share your money (within reason), share your thoughts and ideas. Be willing to receive things other people share, too. * **Find commonalities** – Chances are you can find something in common with everyone you meet. * **Take initiative** – Don't wait. Our group meets throughout the month for a variety of activities, starting with a First Tuesday Lunch at a local restaurant. We like to check out new places and also return to old favorites. We started as a book club and some members really enjoy reading and discussing a book. Do you sometimes ride half fast? :-) Come as you are...it's about the journey, not the speed... We are a kinder, gentler bicycle club for anyone who wants to pedal; meet fun, laid-back cyclists; improve your basic skills; and then search for a good restaurant and drinks! Just starting out? We try to accommodate all levels of riders. Most of our rides are 30-50 miles… But there is ALWAYS a shorter option for every ride. Ride your ride at whatever pace you are comfortable with and we will sweep you to the first turnaround; then if you’re unable to maintain 13 mile an hour average, you may have to return on your own as we won’t be able to sweep any further. However, we always encourage people to show up for the shorter options as it is a good way to build up your distance and speed, and before you know it, you’ll be able to ride the entire distance. Time flies when you ride with a group, especially one that is a bit faster than you are. And there are many people able and willing to give pointers for improvement. We are hoping to partner with other clubs and local bike shops to promote ongoing and upcoming social rides already on the calendar. We are happy to share information to make sure our Half Fast cyclists have as many social cycling options as possible. Where do we ride? Wherever you want!
