I have experienced a life of ups and downs where life was good, and at times hard! After a 21-year marriage I was left heartbroken by betrayal.  I then entered a season of singleness in my 40’s and had to learn how to date again after my last date was in high school! (Deer in headlights look) I then found myself navigating corporate world while trying to turn a “job” into a “career.”Truly, the empty nest and a rebellious teen are a real thing!  And of course, two big moves requiring me to start over again!  New job. New friends.  New church.  New community.  Oh, and a new me! This journey has taught me resilience, compassion, confidence, and the value of living life to the fullest – one day at a time because life is truly what we make it! The Salt Run Flyers are a dragon boat team associated with the St. Augustine Yacht Club. We have been together for about 7 years. Dragon boating is a sport that offers fitness, teamwork and a great way to meet new people. Dragon boating is one of the fastest growing water sports in America. It's a paddle sport. Our boat team is comprised of a ten person paddling crew, a drummer and a steer. We practice two times per week. Tuesday morning and Thursday morning. We are located at the SAYC so we paddle on the Salt Run in St. Augustine. Over the years we have competed in many festivals and have won numerous metals. We offer a free trial before any financial commitment. We supply certified coaches, boats, life jackets and paddles. You supply a positive attitude and a willingness to be a team member. This is a group for female surfers, paddleboarders, and/or bodyboarders to surf together, exercise together, and, hopefully, make some lifelong friends! I started this group to meet other like-minded women and because paddling out with a buddy is always safer than paddling out alone.

I'll post events here (surf/weather dependent) but we'll likely meet on weekends around 8:30/9:30 a.m. on the beach at A Street. Bring your board(s) and, if there's surf, we'll paddle out together. If not, we'll do an hour-long bootcamp style workout that will be geared toward increasing mobility, strength, and endurance to prevent injury and improve your surfing/paddling skills.

** Note: The group is open to all ages and fitness levels, but workouts will be intense. I will, however, always provide modifications for all skill levels. Also, please note that I am NOT a certified personal trainer or surf instructor - just a fitness and surf enthusiast! **
