To discuss the method of work on oneself as Mr. Nyland understood it from Mr. Gurdjieff. There is both an in person and online meeting available please message me for more information Frank Willem A. Nyland was born in Utrecht, Holland. A chemist by profession, he came to the United States and earned his doctorate at Columbia University. In 1924 he and his wife, the artist Ilonka Karasz, heard Mr. Gurdjieff speak during Gurdjieff’s first visit to the United States. After this first encounter, the Nylands began to work closely with Gurdjieff’s representative in America, A. R. Orage. Thereafter, they both remained active in the Gurdjieff teaching and often traveled to France to see Gurdjieff. Near the end of his life, Mr. Gurdjieff asked Mr. Nyland to start a group in America, for which he would receive special material from Gurdjieff every week. After Gurdjieff died in 1949, Mr. Nyland was one of the founders and trustees of the Gurdjieff Foundation. He remained active in the Foundation until he formed his own independent groups in the early 1960s. Anyone who has listened to a few of the 2600 recordings of meetings with Mr. Nyland, made between the late 1950s and 1975, cannot help but feel that Mr. Nyland was extraordinarily devoted to the Gurdjieff teaching. His strength lay in his combination of honesty, practicality, and perspective. Although Mr. Nyland died in 1975, his spirit and attitude, coupled with his teacher’s gift for clarity and communication, continue to be the hallmarks of our group.

The name of this Meetup is simply Meetings at Goran - since most of the gatherings will happen at my place, and there will be a wide variety of topics and activities that would be hard to describe with a single title.

I intend to keep them fresh and new, and have something different every time. Most meetings will be facilitated by me, and I will also have guest presenters from time to time.

This movie meetup group is a sister site of the well-established Atlanta Movie Club Meetup group (link: https://www.meetup.com/atlantamovieclub/) which has almost 2,000 members. In a way, it is essentially an advertisement for the Atlanta Movie Club events. I was forced to open this "duplicate" meetup group as due to some bug in Meetup.com's software (which they are refusing to fix) Atlanta Movie Club events are not showing up when people outside the group search for movies. This is a group for everyone who loves and enjoys movies. We mainly focus on independent and foreign movies but not exclusively. Our meetings take place at movie theaters such as Midtown Art Cinema, and Springs Cinema & Taphouse, etc. We certainly meet for dinner and conversation before or after the movie. We generally announce events weekly on Tuesday or Wednesday as that is when the theaters we watch movies in make their weekend schedules public. This is also a social group and we hold activities such as stand-up comedy, bar trivia, and karaoke. Please feel free to suggest event ideas. All ages and backgrounds are welcome! I am truly a movie fan and hope people alike join this group. We welcome and encourage new members, I hope all movie aficionados can find a place in this group. Now the not so fun part. I will be enforcing a profile picture rule, therefore I will ask everyone to have a picture of their face in order to join or stay in the group. The RSVP policy is that you should un-RSVP if you can't come to the meetup, this will prevent me looking at the door and waiting for you outside the theater or wherever. We are a group for Gay Males & Lesbian Women that enjoy interacting with other like minded friends for board and/or card games that has been active for over 10 years.

We hold monthly gatherings the third Saturday of each month. We get together to socialize, make new friends, play cards, board games, trivia etc. and a nice pot luck lunch. We ask for a monthly donation of $5 per month, but it is not mandatory, no one will ever make you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome if your not able to contribute one month, or unable to bring something for the pot luck. When times are tough, that is when you need a night out for some fun with friends.

You can also meet other people that enjoy the same games as you and set up smaller get togethers in homes. Although we are not meant to be a dating site, we have had people meet here that ended up in relationships.

In the future we may organize full day outings or bus trips. <br>

Maybe a camping weekend, devoted to gaming, this summer.

If you enjoy friendly competition, meeting new and interesting people, and have a positive attitude on life,,,you belong in this group.

Loc'd In Meet Up recently adapted the expression "Define: TRIBE" because it just fit too perfectly. We help the community by providing a safe space and resource for all. It has been such a beautiful cultivation to watch unfold over the years. We have witnessed people making authentic and genuine connections, which is so important as adults. People have been able to network, take time to relax, and have fun. With each event, our family just gets bigger and bigger. The events are welcome to all, whether you are apart of the loc community or not. All we ask is that you bring good vibes! We also have started using my platforms to highlight businesses and members of our communities in different ways. For example, in honor of Women's History Month back in March, we made an engaging Instagram post inquiring about our women business owners. This had instructions on how to be featured, which we then sent out questionnaires and had them send in photos. We went in and made story and page posts with details about them and their business. We like to throw in some fun, relatable questions as well so they ranged from how long they've been in business, to what their favorite food or color is! Loc'd In Meet Up has big goals for in person events to showcase our communities talents, business, or skills (ex, panels, cooking series, etc.). We are looking to get more of these things going soon here in 2024! The goal of Loc'd In Meet Up is to spread love, knowledge, resources, and have a good time.
