Making New Friends, Ages 30 to 70

Making New Friends, Ages 30 to 70
Hi! My name is Christie, and I am new-ish to North Georgia. After living in Southern California for 28 years, we moved to our forever home in Gainesville in early 2022. Starting over has been interesting...and a bit fun. **I would love to make more friends in the area.** **A little bit about me...** I'm in my late 40s, married, no kids, but 2 cute poodle mixes. My husband, Chris, and I moved to Gainesville so we could buy a larger house that both of our moms could move into with us. So it's four of us here starting our new adventure. Chris and I run our own business out of our home, and we've not had a traditional "job" with a boss since 2004! I like to say, we were the "gig economy" before that term even existed! LOL. **How I am picturing this group...** Currently, we play games once a month at least. Once we get enough critical mass, I'd love to get together for outings...dining out, seeing a movie together, a paint-and-sip party together, etc. We travel several times per year and would also love to make friends with others who want to join us sometimes! I don't care if you are single or coupled. I'm only picking an age range to hopefully pull together people with more in common, rather than to simply exclude people. The activities and outings will mostly be for adults, but if there is something we plan to do that will include the entire family, I'll be super clear about it. If this sounds interesting to you, please sign up. I'm quite an admin-y person, so I promise to keep in communication and not let the group become an uncommunicative dud that doesn't go anywhere. 😉

Gurdjieff introductory meeting

Norcross, GA

Gurdjieff introductory meeting
For those interested in the ideas of Gurdjieff, I am a member of the Willem Nyland group see ([www.Nyland.org](http://www.nyland.org/)) Introductory meetings will be held for the years 2023 - 2024 . To discuss the method of work on oneself as Mr. Nyland understood it from Mr. Gurdjieff. There is both an in person and online meeting available  please message me for more information Frank Willem A. Nyland was born in Utrecht, Holland. A chemist by profession, he came to the United States and earned his doctorate at Columbia University. In 1924 he and his wife, the artist Ilonka Karasz, heard Mr. Gurdjieff speak during Gurdjieff’s first visit to the United States. After this first encounter, the Nylands began to work closely with Gurdjieff’s representative in America, A. R. Orage. Thereafter, they both remained active in the Gurdjieff teaching and often traveled to France to see Gurdjieff. Near the end of his life, Mr. Gurdjieff asked Mr. Nyland to start a group in America, for which he would receive special material from Gurdjieff every week. After Gurdjieff died in 1949, Mr. Nyland was one of the founders and trustees of the Gurdjieff Foundation. He remained active in the Foundation until he formed his own independent groups in the early 1960s. Anyone who has listened to a few of the 2600 recordings of meetings with Mr. Nyland, made between the late 1950s and 1975, cannot help but feel that Mr. Nyland was extraordinarily devoted to the Gurdjieff teaching. His strength lay in his combination of honesty, practicality, and perspective. Although Mr. Nyland died in 1975, his spirit and attitude, coupled with his teacher’s gift for clarity and communication, continue to be the hallmarks of our group.

Lawrenceville Hikers 🥾
Are you looking for a fun and healthy way to explore the great outdoors? Join our hiking club! Our group is a great place to get exercise, breathe fresh air, and make new friends while enjoying some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the area. Our hikes start early in the morning (usually starting around 8:30 or 9am). We will hike moderate to intermediate trails, mostly within an hour's drive of Lawrenceville. Hikes will range from 6-8 miles normally, with some hikes up to 12 miles. The pace will usually be 2.5 - 3 miles per hour. We keep a steady, strenuous pace and ask that participants stay up with the group. Always bring water with you, and sun protection. The main trails will be Fort Yargo, Tribble Mill, Harbins, Yellow River, Arabia, Stone Mountain, Ivy Creek Greenway, Elachee, Sandy Creek, Big Haynes Creek, and Little Mulberry. We welcome all skill levels but participants should be able to maintain a strenuous pace with the group at 2.5-3 mph.
