New England Parkour and Free Running Group

Norton, MA

New England Parkour and Free Running Group
**What is Parkour?** Parkour is a non-competitive natural method to train the human body to be able to move forward quickly, making use of the environment that's around us at any given time. This 'art of displacement' requires neither specific structure nor accessory for its practice. The body is the only tool. It's an athletic discipline accessible to all, because it combines all the natural skills of the human body: running, jumping, climbing, etc. It's a utility sport that permits exploration of the potential offered by your body. It's about being able to face the obstacles with which you are presented, whether they be in the natural environment or in the urban environment, in a search for movement that combines effectiveness and control. **[Hub Parkour Training Center - Norton](http://hubptc.com/)** [http://www.hubptc.com/](http://www.hubptc.com/) The dream of having a dedicated Parkour Gym in New England is shared by thousands of athletes, students and potential traceurs. Rehoboth, MA

Southern New England Public Astronomy - ASSNE
This Meetup group lists public events **sponsored** by a local amateur astronomy club: the **Astronomical Society of Southern New England** (ASSNE, website: [https://assne.org](https://assne.org)), based in Rehoboth, MA. This public meetup group is free to join and most of our club events are free and open to the public. We have a passion for showing the night sky to as many people as possible and firing their enthusiasm for astronomy. On a volunteer basis, our members host public observing nights, give astronomy talks and demonstrations, and teach observing and using astronomy equipment. If you would like to get more seriously involved in astronomy beyond our free public outreach events, **inquire about becoming a formal member of ASSNE (requires annual dues).** Club membership confers voting rights at meetings, members' only website/forum access, and invitations to member-only events, such as camping trips and private observing nights. Attend an event or meeting or check out our website to learn more about joining. We also welcome inquiries from teachers and non-profits who would like to host an astronomy night at their school or community venue. And if you have a telescope or binoculars, you are welcome to bring it to any of our events (or come to a club meeting to learn how to use your equipment). Please note, **you do not need to know anything about astronomy, own any equipment, or pay dues to attend our PUBLIC MEETUPS.** Just come and enjoy the night sky with us, and we will happily answer your questions. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We look forward to seeing you under the stars! *\*\*Please do not cross post events to other groups as we require accurate RSVP counts\*\**

New England Small Business Security

Stoughton, MA

Are you a small business owner? Have you been reading the headlines about things like the Target data breach, the Yahoo account compromises, or the many companies hit by ransomware?

This group provides a forum where people in small/medium sized businesses can talk with security professionals, discussing hot topics from the news as well as tried and true methods for securing businesses in today's connected world.

Come meet with us over light refreshments and talk with other business owners & security gurus about today's risks and what you can do.

Each meeting has four parts.

โ€ข optional pre-meeting / food setup (~ 30 minutes)

โ€ข introductions (15 minutes)

โ€ข presentation on a particular topic (45 minutes)

โ€ข open discussion (30 minutes)

We encourage security professionals, business people, and I.T. folks to attend.

Business professionals, bring your questions.  Feel free to be specific and to ask for details.  You know your business.  Let's explore your security questions (the ones one you can share) and help everyone improve their risk management.

I.T. folks, whether you are part-time IT because you run the business or full-time IT reporting to a CIO, you know that IT is on the front lines of the security landscape.  Let's talk about how you manage your environment, keeping the bad guys out and reacting when they get past your defences.  And we know you're probably in charge of physical security too - and we'll make there there are security folks who can help there too.

Security Professionals, come with answers, and be prepared to be challenged on specifics.  We mean to provide real, actionable information for small business owners.  The standard consulting answer "It depends." only works if you then articulate the specific dependencies so that people can make informed decisions.

North Attleboro Area Women's Social Club (Ages 40 to 65+)

North Attleboro, MA

North Attleboro Area Women's Social Club (Ages 40 to 65+)
Hi! This group'sย main goal is to bring ladies together for fun activities and making new friends in the โ€˜second halfโ€™ of our lives (40+). Single, married, kids or not, it doesnโ€™t matter. Just be someone that wants to participate or expand your social circle in a positive, drama-free environment. Wouldnโ€™t it be nice to have new friends to see a movieย with? Or go for a walk, game night orย conversation over a beverage? Aย meal together or aย friends-night-out?ย  I'veย created thisย social group with both planned and impromptu events (and unlike some other social clubs,ย we haveย frequent events, usuallyย one orย two a week - not every few months.) Eventsย are mostly local to N. Attleboro andย the surrounding towns so that itโ€™s convenient for all.ย  Events are widely varied and keep it budget-friendly. ***Additional Information*** **-Do not be a "no show" if you have signed up for an event.**ย  Ifย youย RSVP to an eventย and find that you cannot go, you must update your status to a 'Not Going'.ย  Otherwise it holds up everyone else from having their fun, and I spend my time looking for someone that isn't coming instead of enjoying myself. ย Unfortunately, I will remove chronic "no show" member from the group. **-I require that you have a photo of yourself in your member profile in order to be approved as a member. We can't tell who we are looking for if your photo is blank or a picture of a dog or sunset :)** DINING OUT: For dining out/drinks, each member pays only for whatย they eat/drink plus 20% tip and tax. \*\***If you are new to the group**, please do not be shy or nervous about attending! *Dozens that have attended one of our events for the first time have commented that they were made to feel very welcome and that they were happy they went 'outside their comfort zone' to go an event with this group.* We always seem to have a chatty crowd and no one is ever left out of the conversation! ***\*\*Regarding Guests\*\****ย I get messages asking if guests can be brought to an event. The answer is, "yes, IF they are also women aged 40ish-65+". ย Many members have expressed that they enjoy 'ladies' night out' (aka time away from children and significant others) as well as having a group of women 'our age' to talk with. Please message me about bringing aย female friend before the event, especially if it is an event with a reserved table. I need to restrict pets from coming unless the event expressly invites them. We may have members with allergies or issues, and we do not want to alienate anyone. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions, thank you for understanding.\*\*
