Let's Make New Friends ~ Waltham Social 20's to 40's
I've been organizing this first general social Waltham Meetup group for 7 years now. It's grown through FB now also. Can't wait to meet you all 💕 A group for people in their 20's-30's-mid 40s within Waltham/Newton and surrounding areas to connect and get to know each other when we don't want to head into downtown Boston. Make new friends, explore the different restaurants/pubs in the area, join our book club events, our walking/hiking events in the summer and explore similar interests. The goal of the group is to hopefully make meaningful connections along the way and build some friendships. Or have a fun time out socializing in a world these days where we get less of that each time. So let's get to it and let's meet some new people today! Some FAQ’s about the group and details in general: A. A picture may be taken of our event by attending our Meetup event you consent to it being taken and posted only to our Meetup and private FB group. B. Member Photos: We require profile photos of yourself in order to be accepted into the group. This helps event organizers identify you and find you during events and be able to help you out should you need help finding the group. C. Fees from paid events: Keeping in mind that organizers have to pay for the organizer membership in order to keep the group running and make events these fees go to offset the current $380 membership. If at any moment, there's any extra we'll be putting it back into the events for the members. Fundraising for the group is always appreciated. It only goes to offsetting costs of paying for the organizer membership. I'm trying to also include events free of cost to provide affordable options for people. Help me keep it this way if you found value in any of the events you participated in 🩷 D. Refund Policy: 1\. Events with a fee of less than $5: Please note that the fee for this event is non-refundable, even if someone else takes your spot. This small fee helps the Meetup organizer cover the $380 membership cost and serves as a thank-you for their time and effort in organizing these events. It also helps ensure that those who RSVP are genuinely interested and committed to attending, reducing "no shows" and last-minute cancellations after reservations have been made. Thank you for understanding and supporting the group! 2\. Events with a fee greater than $5: These would usually involve ticketed events\. The general policy is if the Organizer/Host can get their money back\, you’ll get your money back \- if you timely canceled\. Once an event location has been paid\, however\, many times they won’t issue a refund\. If they don’t refund us\, we can’t refund you regardless of how far in advance you canceled\. That said\, sometimes a refund can be issued IF you cancel at least a week in advance AND someone takes your spot\. If you want to request a refund\, message the event host via Meetup to discuss\. Please note\, if you cancel the day before or the day of an event\, there are no refunds \- regardless of the reason and regardless if someone takes your spot\. E. No show policy: we understand things unexpected things happen, and plans can change. Organizers take time and effort out of their free time to plan these activities for everyone and plan around a certain number of people and it's disrespectful to them to be left waiting for people who aren't coming. They can also run into reservation issues with restaurants that have been kind enough to accommodate for us. That's why we politely ask everyone to change their RSVP to “no” if they can't make it or message the organizer ahead of time. We'll implement a 3-strike no-show rule before removing a member from the group. F. Event Organizers/Suggestions: This group is looking for event organizers and assistants, as well as suggestions or ideas for upcoming events. If you're interested in a position, even if temporary to try it out, or have ideas for upcoming events please feel free to reach out to the main organizer. E. Join us on FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/walthamsocialya/ \~More events offered on our FB group please join us above if you're interested.\~

New England Small Business Security

Stoughton, MA

Are you a small business owner? Have you been reading the headlines about things like the Target data breach, the Yahoo account compromises, or the many companies hit by ransomware?

This group provides a forum where people in small/medium sized businesses can talk with security professionals, discussing hot topics from the news as well as tried and true methods for securing businesses in today's connected world.

Come meet with us over light refreshments and talk with other business owners & security gurus about today's risks and what you can do.

Each meeting has four parts.

• optional pre-meeting / food setup (~ 30 minutes)

• introductions (15 minutes)

• presentation on a particular topic (45 minutes)

• open discussion (30 minutes)

We encourage security professionals, business people, and I.T. folks to attend.

Business professionals, bring your questions.  Feel free to be specific and to ask for details.  You know your business.  Let's explore your security questions (the ones one you can share) and help everyone improve their risk management.

I.T. folks, whether you are part-time IT because you run the business or full-time IT reporting to a CIO, you know that IT is on the front lines of the security landscape.  Let's talk about how you manage your environment, keeping the bad guys out and reacting when they get past your defences.  And we know you're probably in charge of physical security too - and we'll make there there are security folks who can help there too.

Security Professionals, come with answers, and be prepared to be challenged on specifics.  We mean to provide real, actionable information for small business owners.  The standard consulting answer "It depends." only works if you then articulate the specific dependencies so that people can make informed decisions.
