*NEW* NO-SHOW POLICY:

Posted 8/26/2021

Please respect the No Show Policy.. Please respect the No Show Policy.. No-shows impact everyone. It is very inconvenient when people do not change their RSVP causing the group to wait for a no show, or worse.. Oftentimes there is a waitlist for an event and if there is a no-show, someone on the waitlist can't go. Or, I have a reservation at a venue and a no-show creates an empty seat. As of now, for the good of the group, I will have to keep track of no shows with consequences after the second time. I understand that extenuating circumstances and honest mistakes can happen to everyone! Rather than asking me to change an RSVP, members are responsible for changing their own RSVPs when they can't come. This is very easily done on the meetup site. Also, depending on the meetup location I am usually available by phone at the last minute so please keep me updated! 207-557-1707

Consequences:

after 2nd no-show.. the member can not attend an event for 1 month

3rd no-show.. the member will be removed from the group.

A member can be reinstated at any time after a conversation with the organizer.

Reinventing Community

Bath, ME

Reinventing Community
(formerly Reinventing Aging and Dying) After nearly a year of meetings as RAD, we have become more focused on how to live well in community. Consequently, we are hoping to attract a more diverse age range to reinvent how we define and interact as a community. This includes reading books together, brainstorming how to start an intentional community, and (ideally) finding a group of founders to actually start an innovative intentional community in Maine. **Reinventing Community** **We believe that we can  live better.** **Let’s do something.  Let’s build an intentional community that we would want to live in.** **How do we want to live now and later?** **This group will focus on the building of a diverse intergenerational community.  We expect to innovate in governance, with sociocracy and DAOs; in economics, using a local currency and tokens for ownership; in culture, by creating a supportive and caring environment; and in technology, by designing off-grid, net-zero buildings and phone apps for accounting.  The members will share  core values and basic principles, but allow for differences in backgrounds and beliefs.  It will support resilience and sustainability in its buildings and in its programs.**  **The group will be AMICable, A Maine Intentional Community that can!** Let's do something about it. Now is the time; let's not wait . While there are no easy answers, there are lots of ideas and models of better systems of community. I have ideas; I am sure many of you do, too. Let's start with a combined virtual and real meet-up group to brainstorm, research, socialize, and ultimately plan a new way to live out our years.

Yarmouth, ME

Active/Athletic Singles 40s/50s/60s - Portland-Brunswick
Active/Athletic Singles 40s/50s/60s I am organizing a new group for ATHLETIC, SINGLE, FUN, OUTDOORSY, individuals that like to enjoy the outdoors in what some people say is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Let’s be thankful and explore together! The goal is to provide adventures that allow people to get to know each other and help people discover new places and ideas. Individuals will connect through fun, shared experiences either in person or on-line (depending on COVID restrictions). Activities can include (but aren't limited to): hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, travel, happy hours, dinner parties, BBQ's, breweries, comedy clubs, etc. Online activities may include slide shows of personal adventures to inspire people to get out and enjoy. Our hikes and adventures can fit within a variety of distances, skill levels, elevation gains etc. I am recovering from an injured hip so outings that I lead will be limited in intensity for now. However, other members will be encouraged to become trip leaders to organize trips and activities that they think will be fun for you and others. Crossroads Anime Club

Gray, ME

Despite Maine being an anagram of anime, it can be hard to find people in such a rural state who share an interest in anime, manga, and other Japanese media and culture.

Crossroads Anime Club is a weekly club where members can discuss --but more importantly watch and enjoy, anime with other enthusiasts. All levels of knowledge and fandom are more than welcome; we all start somewhere!

This club will watch either a feature-length movie, or several episodes per meetup, with choices nominated and decided on by members. For series, we'll keep you posted on what we're in the middle of, so you can catch up on your own if you miss a week or are joining late!

There will also be time before, after, and in-between watching, for discussion of anything and everything anime-related, or whatever topic happens to come up. Video games, manga, and light novels are all things that many of us enjoy, as well as similar western media.

Many members also attend conventions for anime, video games, etc. Cons are always better with friends, so don't hesitate to mention any you'll be attending --you may find out you're not the only one! PortCon, Anime Boston, NYCC, and many other conventions are right here in the northeast! Cosplay discussion, brainstorming, and showing is also more than welcome.

We meet Wednesdays, at 6:30 PM, with the first episode or movie starting at 7.
We are located at Fiddlehead Art and Science Center, 25 Shaker Rd. Gray, ME.

UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO HAVE TO ASK THAT ALL MEMBERS BE 18 OR OLDER, due to the potential for mature themes in some selections.
