Southwest Detroit Couples - making new couple friends

Detroit, MI

Welcome to the Southwest Detroit Couples Meetup group! If you're looking to expand your social circle and make new friends with your significant other, this is the perfect group for you. Singles are totally welcomed as well 🙂 Hello, everyone. We are Rose and Scott, and we're engaged without any children. We moved to Detroit last year and would like to start making friends now that we have adjusted to living in a new city. I (Rose) am originally from Tucson, AZ, and Scott is originally from Ohio. We met in Tucson and decided to move to Detroit so Scott could be closer to his parents. Today is May 22nd, 2024, and at this time we do not have any events/meetups scheduled yet. Please feel free to reach out if you have any recommended ideas. I have a few ideas and I hope I can come up with a fun event/meetup. I don't want this to be a group where you need to pay in advance to secure a spot. I would rather treat it as a place to organize mutually agreed upon meetups, such as everyone signing up to bring a meal to a cookout at a park, drinks at a wine bar, trying new food, etc. We are left-leaning individuals, and some of our interests include our dogs, music, reading, wine and cocktails, trying new restaurants, cooking (especially grilling), dinner parties, sitting around a fire, trivia, and chill hangouts in the backyard while drinking and eating. Group Rules: 1) Members must be 21 years or older. This group is for older adults 32-65+, of course, anyone 21 years and older is welcome. 2) The primary goal of this group is to ensure a safe and inclusive environment. This means no tolerance for homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, misogyny, or classism. Members should demonstrate respectful behavior and refrain from harassing, threatening, or being violent towards others. 3) Selling products or advertising is not permitted in this group. 4) This is not a singles-seeking-singles group. Please refrain from using this group for dating purposes, as this may make other members uncomfortable.

Downriver Spiritual Growth

Lincoln Park, MI

Downriver Spiritual Growth

We are a group of like-minded people in spiritual discussion and finding meaning within our lives.

Join if you are interested in anything from: meditation, energy healing, crystals, consciousness and all spiritual beliefs: to the sciences behind our spiritually energetic universe.

The Past: A little history

I've attended many classes, workshops and meditations from the Flint area, Ann Arbor, and down in this Downriver area. One common thing I find is that there are always people in the events that were guided there, but don't necessarily know why. All too often they don't get the most out of the event due to several factors: Sometimes the facilitator has a hard time teaching inexperienced attendees. Sometimes the attendees are afraid to ask questions due to inexperience. Sometimes it's just the opposite, an event may be too introductory for an advanced practitioner. I always seem to find myself having conversations in the parking lots afterward, either explaining topics in more depth or referring people to places/events more suited to what they were looking for.

The Present:

The purpose of this group and the meetups is to help people on their Spiritual Path. For the more experienced practitioners, we know that part of our path is helping and teaching others. We always learn something when we are teaching or guiding. For those just starting out on this journey, you gain insight, information, guidance and coaching. The more varied our group is in experience and background, the more we all benefit from our interactions.

The Future:

We will be scheduling meetups to give us opportunities to meet new friends, have group meditations, participate in drum circles, reiki shares, and vibrational healing sessions. Any other suggestions you may have are welcomed. You may message me through the message organizer button or post directly to the message board to share your ideas/interests publicly?

I look forward to meeting everybody when our paths cross.

As long as you respect everyone’s humanity, you’ll be just fine.   Improvisation can be many different things: -Improvisation as building confidence in your own ability to react to the unexpected, to improve your own uncertainty tolerance, -Improvisation as practice at “being in the moment,” -Improvisation as experience in working with other people towards a common goal, -Improvisation as cultivating your ability to read immediate feedback and incorporate it into the scene.   Improv can also be very funny, hilarious even, but it is first and foremost about being genuine.  Genuine as the character(s) you are creating in a scene, genuine in your reactions to what is occurring in a scene, and genuine in all of our commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, encouraging, creative, and open environment for learning AND play!   Join us to improve your ability to react in the moment, learn more about improvisation, let your fantastic weirdness come out to play, and/or just have fun while exploring new creative avenues and spaces!!!   Guests/spectators are welcome, and will be encouraged to offer suggestions to help create exciting and hilarious scenes!

You never know what excitement we will encounter while exploring the Metro Detroit area together.

Please note, you must use a current identifiable picture of yourself and be a woman 40-65+(married, single, divorced, widowed) to join this group.

Come on out and laugh and mingle and perhaps have a glass of wine....or two.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

A lot of time and work goes into planning an event.  To promote fairness to all members and to ease unnecessary work on the organizer’s part, the following attendance policy will be implemented:

Any event cancellation has to be done within 24 hours of  the event.  Any time after that, you will  be considered a “no-show”.

If you do not show up for 3 events, after responding you will be there, your membership will be revoked.

Bullying or being disrespectful to others will also not be tolerated and result in immediate termination from the group.

For members with good attendance records, it is understandable that emergencies or illness can happen.  This will be taken into consideration with the organizer deciding on the consequence.  This policy was created  for those that chronically fail to show up and to discourage hoarding of attendees' spots at limited-space meetups by members who have no serious intention of actually attending the event.

If you have questions or concerns, please let us know.  Your input is appreciated and the group wouldn’t be possible without our attendees.  Thanks!
