Heads up!
I have been letting this go moribund/defunct/simmer/whatever terms you'd like to use, but that's all changed. We're going to start up new meetups. Our new place is in the City of St Louis at the TypOSphere, a shop on Cherokee started by one of our members!
So expect to see a new meeting for the middle of November and advertising for it.
We are a group of folks devoted to the physical pleasure of typing something out on a piece of paper on obsolete machinery. Using a typewriter has a sensuous feeling that typing on a keyboard can't reproduce. Mistakes are part of the charm and there's a more direct link to what you writer.
We get together when we can at Type-Ins to meet, compete, compare, and just bond over the joy of writing on an obsolete but still incredibly useful machine and to spread the word that writing can be fun and not sterile like word processing.
Type-Ins are a good vehicle to get strangers interested in something that anyone under the age of 35 finds a dated, alien machine and that anyone over that age remembers fondly (one hopes).
