Making New Friends in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC

Making New Friends in Raleigh
This meetup is for anyone who is new to the area or just looking to expand that circle of friends. We are working to become a group that you can rely on to meet new people, try new things and experience Raleigh all while laughing and connecting with like-minded people. I’m also looking for people who’s really into fitness. Our intent is to make this a fun place with diverse meetups so everyone can find something that interests them. Feel free to message one of your organizers if there's a particular event or adventure you'd like to see or if you'd like to become an event host! Always be mindful of the commitments you make with your RSVPs so that we are able to accommodate accordingly, but most of, let's have FUN!
Feel free to get connected with my running groups and Raleigh Self Defense Dojo to stay fit

MEETUP IS FAMILY This group is judgement and cliquey free and for members that are serious about attending events to meet the members of the group. We must have complete trust in one another and be willing to accept everyone. The goal is to be able to be friends outside of meetup as well. MEETUP IS NOT FACEBOOK Let's remember to be respectful to one another especially when we RSVP for a event. I doubt that anyone likes to wait for members who are not going to show up so please be mindful and change your RSVP or contact the host if there's a number you can reach them. I'm allowing everyone to host events based on their interest so everyone will get to be a organizer. Three no shows will get a member removed unless the host finds the excuse acceptable. Stuff like car breaking down emergencies where you can't contact the host etc will be acceptable. Please make sure let the host know early in advance if you change your RSVP. Trying to wait 30 minutes or less before the event starts or after the event starts will be considered a no show unless an emergency comes up. The host events would more likely be at the destination waiting for you by then. If you can't find the group contact the host regardless on how big or small the event is. Sometimes the host just wants you to stop by to say hi. We wouldn't stand up a real life friend date boss or doctor so let's treat the meetup host the same way. And make sure to pay attention to the details of the event so you can know what's going on and how to find everyone. After 6 months of not attending any events since you signed up you will be removed and be allowed to return when you can commit to attending the events. There's no point of being part of a Meetup group if you're not going to attend any events. The idea is to meet people that's why it's called Meetup and I'm allowing everyone to host events based on their interest. Whether or not you’re actually interested in the upcoming event or not it’s a good idea to try to attend anyways if possible just so you can get to meet the hosts and the other members attending the events. That also includes merging with another Meetup event. Any report of members being mean or not being accepting will lead to a permanent dismissal of the group. Feel free to report to me immediately if a host or a member been disrespectful or don't make you feel accepted and I will see to it that something gets done about it. Make sure to save my number. People are welcome to contact me anytime to say hello or to ask me questions about events or concerns and can find me on facebook under Anthony Earl Williams

Everyone must have a real photo for their profile. That's your identification to make sure that you are really you.

Triangle InterPlay Meet Up

Raleigh, NC

Triangle InterPlay Meet Up

InterPlay is an easy-to-learn creative process that invites participants to express themselves through storytelling, movement, and voice. It offers methods of play where participants can have fun while discovering new things about themselves and others. Anybody can do it. All that you need in order to get started is yourself!

InterPlay’s activities and underlying principles have been developed into a comprehensive system that is based in simplicity. This simplicity enables all types of participants to have fun in supportive and affirming environments. In addition, many people discover that their InterPlay experiences positively impact multiple aspects of their lives.

InterPlay is usually done in public classes that are on a “drop-in basis”, where people can attend sessions whenever they please. In these classes, InterPlay leaders guide participants through well-established activities that are focused on self-expression using only the human body. For example, one activity may have each participant tell another person about an everyday experience, while another activity may have two people discover the many different ways that their hands can move together. Throughout the duration of the class, individuals will have a variety of experiences in the whole group, in small groups, with partners, and also apart from others. In addition to public “drop-in” classes, InterPlay offers retreats and extended programs where people can dive deeper into this practice. So, beyond individual classes, a person can become a life-long learner in InterPlay.

At InterPlay events, participants are invited to express themselves in the moment. They are encouraged to set aside any sense that they need to do things perfectly or correctly. In addition, they are encouraged to let go of any sense that they need to entertain or impress others. This approach to self-expression enables people to experience ease as they freely explore whatever interests them while doing each activity.

You don’t need to think of yourself as being creative in order to do InterPlay, but chances are you will find you are much more creative than you think. You are likely to find that there is great wisdom in your body. That wisdom may be in the form of memories, movements, rhythms, and countless other types of experiences you have accumulated throughout the course of your life. Through InterPlay’s simple activities, you are invited to unlock that wisdom. In addition to being fun, opening up and exploring that wisdom may provide a path to reducing stress and generating greater ease in your life.

To learn more about InterPlay, visit the national website at www.interplay.org. To find out about what, where, and when InterPlay classes are happening in the Raleigh-Durham area, visit our local website at www.interplaync.org.

You are invited to join this Meetup group and check out our events. We believe you will be very happy you did!

Friends of the Mountains - to - Sea Trail

Raleigh, NC

Friends of the Mountains - to - Sea Trail
The primary purpose of this group is to support a community of volunteers focused on building, enhancing and maintaining North Carolina's premier hiking trail, the Mountains-to-Sea Trail! The Mountains-to-Sea Trail, stretches 1,175 miles from Clingmans Dome State Park in the Great Smoky Mountains to Jockey's Ridge State Park on the Outer Banks.  The trail showcases our state's diverse landscape and culture:  mountain vistas, rolling Piedmont farms, picture-postcard colonial towns, weathered tobacco barns, old textile villages, country churches, rushing mountain streams, coastal swamps, hardwood and pine forests, lighthouses, sand dunes and miles of seashore. In addition to joining us on Meetup, where we post numerous MST workdays, we also hope you'll visit the FMST website ([ https://www.mountainstoseatrail.org](http://www.ncmst.org)) to learn more about this wonderful backyard resource and ask that you consider becoming a Friend of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail at: https://mountainstoseatrail.org//get-involved/become-a-member/ If you'd like to help build and maintain the trail and don't see a workday in your area posted on this Meetup group site, FMST has a workday going on somewhere in the state almost every weekend of the year and on some weekdays too.  For more information contact the trail crew leader in your vicinity. You can find a list of crew leaders at:   [https://mountainstoseatrail.org/get-involved/trail-workdays/](https://mountainstoseatrail.org/get-involved/trail-workdays/) Come help enhance and give back to hiking in North Carolina by helping build, enhance and maintain the Mountains-to-Sea Trail!

Chapel Hill And Durham Fun with Friends (CHAD) 30s 40s 50s+

Durham, NC

Chapel Hill And Durham Fun with Friends (CHAD) 30s 40s 50s+

"Chapel Hill and Durham Fun with Friends" (aka CHAD) was created by Julie H. & Kim M. in 2013. Our goal: Create a positive environment for social networking/building friendships with a "more the merrier" approach. Typically, our events allow last-minute YES's without fear of commitment.  No scolding emails if "life gets in the way."  We're a welcoming bunch...even if it's your first Meetup, feel free to come solo--you'll have fun!

Our leadership expanded to include Jamie (2014), Lori Z. (2015) and Michael P. (2015). Our positive culture continues to flourish. CHAD's footprint expanded beyond Chapel Hill and Durham.  We now include Meetups nearby at spots "too good to miss" in addition to our local venues.

Have a Meetup idea?  We always need group members who are willing and able to organize, post, and host events for the group.  If you'd like to be an EVENT ORGANIZER, please contact group organizer Michael P. via Meetup or at michael623@yahoo.com or 919-489-8700.

Question about our "typical crowd"?  We really can't answer!  Meetups tend to be random. We're a social group, no specific "Relationship Status" is a criterion to join.  Past events have included Happy Hour, Dinner, Wine-Tasting, Hiking, Biking, Coffee, Charitable Events, Dance Parties, Couples/Family Events, Kids or no-Kids, Frisbee-Golf, Kayaking, Live Concerts, and more. We simply can't predict who'll attend - makes sense, really!

With more than 1200 members from all over the Triangle there are bound to be folks sharing your interests. Join our group and you'll see!

Here are a couple things to know:

A profile photo of YOU is required to join & remain a member.

CHAD is open to all ages of professional adults, with the majority of members being 30s - 50s.   Current active members range from late 20s to some early 60s, too.

Bringing friends is encouraged. Each member is responsible for her/his own guests, spouse, and/or kids at kid-friendly events.

Please read and respect posted guidelines/rules for each event.  Meetups are "pay for yourself."  Events typically start on time, but "Start" and "End" times cannot be guaranteed.  We are not responsible if a Meetup ends early.

Occasional events with strict RSVP/late cancel policies will be clearly noted (due to venue, etc).  Please respect the policy of specific events, as a courtesy to the host/venue.

Inappropriate behavior at events (or via email) will not be tolerated and will subject the responsible party to removal from the group at discretion of the organizers.  That includes posting inappropriate events or emailing suggestive content.

We rely on member support to cover Meetup.com website fees, which are not insignificant.  Group organizer Michael P. personally funds/pays CHAD's Meetup.com fees, with member contributions helping to offset the cost.  Please help support the group by becoming a "CONTRIBUTING" member using the green "Chip In" button.  Your title will be updated, you'll receive an email of gratitude, and you'll help fund our future. CHAD organizers/hosts are not paid for their roles. Thank you to all those who've supported this group now and in the past!

Expand your social circles, meet new friends - attend a CHAD meetup! Our venues and events are varied.   Hope you'll join!

Every member helps our group grow and thrive.

Thanks!

-Julie, Lori, Michael, Jamie, Kim, our event hosts, contributors, and leadership team
