Fargo Go Club

Fargo Go Club

Fargo Go club is looking for new or veteran players to expand the local Go (igo, baduk, weiqi) group. The club has been active for a number of years and has a strong foundation of players of all levels. Total beginners or experienced veterans, we are always looking to meet new players!

Please note we also have a very active group on OGS (Online Go Server ->
https://online-go.com/group/2757) if you want to play, but can't make it to meetups very often.

"Go is... an ancient board game which takes simple elements -- line and circle, black and white, stone and wood -- combines them with simple rules and generates subtleties which have enthralled players for millennia. Beyond being merely a game, go can take on other meanings to enthusiasts: an analogy with life, an intense meditation, a mirror of one's personality, an exercise in abstract reasoning, or, when played well, a beautiful art in which Black and White dance across the board in delicate balance. But most important for all who play, go is challenging and fun."

The rules of Go are simple and almost anyone can understand the basics within a few games. However, players never stop learning or trying to improve. A wonderful handicap system and fellow players who enjoy teaching, can allow even beginners to have competitive and fun matches against seasoned players.

So whether you are just interested in learning about the oriental game of strategy or a long time player looking to test your skills, please join us!

RfR - Fargo, ND (need local host)
*Note: this group is joining the Canada meetings until we can find a local Fargo area volunteer. Also, our international RfR-Wide Virtual Chapter meetings are listed here (and on every RfR Meetup page.) Feel free to join any group that meets your needs.* Doubt your beliefs? Have questions about changing or leaving your faith? You are not alone, and we are here to help each other through this journey. Learning how to live after questions, doubts, and changing beliefs is a journey. We at Recovering from Religion are intimately familiar with this path and are here to help you to cross that bridge. Our mission is connecting others with support, resources, community, and most of all, hope. The primary focus of a Recovering From Religion support group is to provide ongoing and personal support to individuals as they let go of their religious beliefs. This transitional period is an ongoing process that can result in a range of emotions, as well as a ripple effect of consequences throughout an individual’s life. As such the support meetings are safe and anonymous places to express these doubts, fears, and experiences without biased feedback or proselytizing. RfR has an immense collection of well-curated resources available as you go through your journey. The page includes resources for mental and physical crises, working with relationships, for issues stemming from specific religions, coming out stories, and much more. Head to www.recoveringfromreligion.org/resources for these helpful resources. If you find you need to talk with someone before the meeting date, RfR has a hotline and online chat for that express purpose. Call (844) 368-2848 to speak with someone or go to www.recoveringfromreligion.org to chat online. If you’re seeking professional help, we can offer the Secular Therapy Project to provide options to connect with a professional therapist. All therapists have been thoroughly vetted by our organization and offer only evidence-based and non-religious treatment. Connect with them at www.seculartherapy.org.
