Shyness and Social Anxiety Meetup (South Jersey)
Do you struggle with shyness or social anxiety? You're not alone! Our Shyness & Social Anxiety Support Group offers a friendly, no-pressure environment where you can practice social skills, connect with others, and grow at your own pace. Whether you're looking to build confidence, meet new people, or simply feel more comfortable in social settings, we’re here to support you. In this group, you’ll find: * Understanding and support from others who truly understand your experience. * Simple tools and techniques to help ease anxiety in social situations. * A safe, relaxed space where you can practice communication skills without fear or judgment. * Encouragement for gradual progress—you set the pace, and there’s no rush or pressure. You’re welcome to join us for open discussions, group activities, and connection with others facing similar challenges. There’s never any pressure to speak or participate if you're not ready—just come as you are and take your time. **MEETING FORMAT** Each meeting will be a blend of group discussions, practice activities, and mutual support to help us feel more comfortable and confident in social situations. **Please remember that participation in discussions or activities is entirely up to you.** You can engage at your own pace—no pressure! **Discussion Topics** Our conversations will focus on shyness and social anxiety, with both planned topics and impromptu chats. Some examples include: * Personal strategies for managing social anxiety. * Sharing our successes and challenges. * Stepping outside our comfort zones. * Handling anticipatory anxiety. * Setting realistic and achievable goals. * Connecting with personal values and purpose. * Mindfulness, meditation, and other calming techniques. For each meeting, I’ll post some specific discussion topics in the meeting description. Additionally, feel free to bring your own topics. **Practice Activities** You’ll have opportunities to practice social skills in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. Participation is entirely optional, allowing you to engage at your own pace and focus on the activities that matter most to you. Activities might include: * Introducing yourself. * Leading a group discussion. * Practicing small talk and active listening. * Spontaneous speaking practice with Table Topics. * Giving short talks (like a casual "Toastmasters light" session). * And any other practice that would be helpful to you – for example, mock job interviews or practicing an upcoming presentation for work. **Support** As in a traditional support group, there will be space to share challenges, successes, and any upcoming situations you're facing. Let’s work together, one small step at a time, toward feeling more confident and comfortable in social situations. If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to reach out to me. Looking forward to meeting you!
