Meet new friends groups near Camp Hill, PA

Central Pennsylvania Skiers and Snowboarders

Harrisburg, PA

Central Pennsylvania Skiers and Snowboarders

This group is for those who love skiing and/or snowboarding (or wish to learn) but who may not know many people who like to do the same or those they do know may be of a different skill-level than they are. This group is for all levels of skiing/snowboarding ability- beginner/novice, intermediate, advanced.

This Meet-up group is different than most, because, the purpose of this group is to advertise what day/time and where people may be going skiing/snowboarding so that others can join them for a fun time at the slopes.  We want all members to advertise when/where they are going by posting Meet-ups right onto the calendar themselves, then we can join people out there!

We had a great kick-off season last year, which was our first year as a club, and we are so looking forward to our second season meeting new people and getting out there on the slopes. Since I started skiing again (after more than 15 years of not skiing), my winters have become increasingly shorter and definitely more fun!

I purchased a night-club ski pass last year, which includes Liberty, Whitetail, and Roundtop, and have done the same this year.  We also went on a trip to VT and those members who came out last year to ski/snowboard, can tell you that they made a lot of friends.  Those friends, will definitely be life-long friends, and we've ended up doing other stuff together like, water skiing, mountain biking, camping, going to the beach, and even zip-lining!  I think we were all pretty much caught off guard by how easy it was to make new friends by joining this group (especially me, as I am rather shy by nature).

Irregardless of your ability level-  this group is for you, especially for those who have never gone skiing/snowboarding but have an interest to learn, so please don't hesitate to sign up!

Please contact me if you are interested in leading any day-time, night-time, or weekend trips, or have any questions on the group or anything else.

See you out there!
-Mary :)

Susquehanna Ski & Snowboard Club

Harrisburg, PA

Susquehanna Ski & Snowboard Club
SSC promotes skiing, snowboarding and the general love of winter snow sports through a great variety of winter trips, lessons, group discounts and membership meetings (monthly from September to April).  Throughout the rest of the year, we also have lots of fun with social activities like bike riding, kayaking, picnics and parties, golfing and more!  We are partnered with Roundtop Mountain to offer a comprehensive ski and snowboard program to enhance our skills on the snow, and we also enjoy discount tickets to other mountains through our affiliation with the Eastern PA Ski Council.  We enjoy a great relationship with our local ski shops, as their representatives often provide programs at several meetings each year. We welcome members of all ages who get excited about winter and life in general.   Instead of complaining about the cold weather, SSC members are out skiing and boarding, some locally, some out west, some in Canada, and yes, some in Europe!  If you are looking for some new friends to ski or ride with, or looking for new destinations and throughout the United States and Canada, you have found the right club. Our club was incorporated 52 years ago and we have been cel, ebrating the past year in a big way!  We encourage anyone visiting this site to get to know us and other skiers/boarders in the area by attending our monthly membership meetings (free to guests) and get to know other outdoor friends.  As Meetup Members, please feel free to post your own winter get-togethers on this site as well. Our SSC 2017 winter ski trips went on sale in June:  Big Sky, Montanna; Jay Peak, Vermont; Lake Placid, New York; St. Anton, Austria; Vail, Colorado; and Whitefish, Montanna.   You must be a dues-paying member of SSC ($25 single or $35 family/household) to travel with us on trips.    Please go to our website for complete details on these trips:   [www.skissc.com](http://www.skissc.com)

Central PA Stroke Support Meetup

Harrisburg, PA

This group is for stroke survivors at all levels of recovery, their families/care-givers, and those in the stroke field that want to volunteer to help (speech, OT, PT therapists, nurses, doctors, home aids, researchers, university students, etc.). Please join because we need you all!! :)

Our main goal is TO GIVE HOPE to the stroke survivors by them meeting others to see that there is life after a stroke! It will make them feel less isolated, and they can even make new friends!

My dad had his stroke this past January 2017 (left brain), so he is having to re-learn to talk, read, and write, and I'm sure he is feeling so terribly isolated. He needs to be around other survivors, and we are very frustrated because of the lack of stroke support (most groups only meet once/month and are sponsored by a hospital). We'd like to meet more often, and even take turns meeting in survivor's homes, if possible (my dad wouldn’t attend the last group mtg because he didn’t want to go back to the hospital to attend it).

There is SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO THIS GROUP! I'm hoping not only to eliminate the stroke survivor's feeling of isolation, and help care-givers, but we can also start an exercise/therapy class- which would cut down on costs (I have a personal trainer that will help), we can look at stroke nutrition, even do outings, and if therapists join (we might be able to get therapies/lessons). Also- it is a place where we can exchange information: for Ex:- what are the best insurance companies for stroke rehab, what is the best sling for the "bad arm", what are some secrets to rehabbing faster, etc.

Taking care of our stroke patients is VERY costly, so this may be an opportunity to do things as a group: sharing therapies, or equipment (Ex: shower seats that are no longer being used), etc.

PLEASE JOIN, OR SPREAD THE WORD TO ANYONE THAT YOU KNOW!
