It's said that a stranger is a friend that you haven't met yet However, breaking the ice with strangers can be hard when your in a room full of them. What are you supposed to say, how will you remember all of their names & how will you know who the meeting organiser is?
The chances are that you've looked at and maybe joined a number of Meetup groups in your local area. Why join this one? Well, without getting all salesy about things, the success of this group over the last four years has been down to two things. Firstly, the open hearted nature of the members means that anyone who joins is immediately made to feel welcomed and appreciated. We all know how hard it can be to step out of your comfort zone and show up at an event where you no absolutely no one in the room. Secondly, the group has grown to the size it now is because we endeavour to keep things fresh by adding new types of events and locations so that it appeals to members with different tastes.
At this point you may well be wondering what type of people join this group and attend the events on offer? The answer is people of all ages and from all backgrounds and cultures. While the group started out as a singles group, the reality is that over the years it has attracted couples who are looking to expand their friendship network. No restrictions are placed on age either. However, members typically tend to be in their late thirties upwards.
So where do our Meetups take place? The group was founded in Wilmslow with most events taking place within a 10 mile radius of the town. However, members live across a much wider geography from the North of Manchester to the south of Cheshire. Therefore, the intention is to offer Meetups in a wide range of locations. The primary locations will be Wilmslow, Cheadle Hulme and Didsbury. However, look out out for events talking place in other locations in Greater Manchester and East Cheshire
In terms of the type of events that are organised. they range from larger "no attendee limits" evening Meetups at pubs with live music through to smaller weekend evening dinners and Sunday lunches. For the more actively minded, country walks and ten pin bowling are also offered.
It's free to join this group. However, depending on the venue, there may be a charge for attending.
If your new to the area or maybe just at a loose end & want to get out of the house & make some new friends this winter then why not join our group? Go on!
