Joining a Meetup group is easy to do. Going to your first Meetup event, especially if you do so alone, might not be so easy. The members of West-Side Friends want you to know that we are a friendly, diverse, and welcoming group of people who share a love of friends and fun. Let us know you are coming, and we will look for you. We highly encourage you to post a photo - posting your photo makes it easier for us to find you, but it is not mandatory.

Our events are hosted by group members who are all volunteers. We welcome your thoughts and suggestions, and we encourage you to share them with us. Of course we always appreciate your help! DUES:
We collect a $6.00 annual due. We offer an alternative method of payment, not through the meetup app, whereby the cost is $5.00 annually. New members have a 30 day trial period to decide if they want to join and become a member. You are welcome to bring a guest with you one time - - after that if your same guest wants to join in on the activities, they need to become a member.

NO-SHOW POLICY:
We have a no-show policy for our events and activities. In our group anyone is welcome to host an event. For those who are attending an event, it is very important to check your schedule and un-RSVP from an event if your plans change. If you do not show up to an event for which you are signed up, or if you cancel after RSVPs are closed, you will be marked as a ”no-show”. You will be allowed three “no-shows,” after which point you will be kept on a waiting list for all events for a year. If spaces open up on the day of an event, you may be moved into that event. But no-shows will not be overlooked. West-Side Friends is a group that welcomes everyone, and we do not like to be strict. But it is embarrassing to have an event at a restaurant and only have 12 people show up when 20 signed up.

About the games:

All games will be hosted at local indoor soccer facilities such as <br>Sports 59, West Houston Indoor Soccer, Memorial Indoor Soccer, Dynamic Indoor Soccer, Main Street Soccer, Toros Lifestyle Soccer Art District / Memorial, Soccer Centro, Q & B Indoor Sports, uScore Soccer.

Games are generally 1 hour long, sometimes on the weekend they're 1 hour and a half, and sometimes we set up games that are 2-3 hours long with revolving teams.

Location varies, but we limit it to the Katy area. We love to catch up with each other, but we're also serious book lovers. We're here to talk about the book! We usually have written discussion questions/prompts and everyone gets a chance to answer. At the end of our meeting we'll write down suggestions for future books. We try to choose books two months in advance so that everyone has time to track down the book and read at their own pace. After the meeting you'll receive an e-mail from the organizer with a link to vote for the book you'd like to read.
