Harrogate Ladies

Harrogate, J7

Harrogate Ladies

Are you a female wishing to meet new friends, expand your current social network or just meet new people in general to share some fun time with? Then maybe this is the group for you! This group was created for females in the Harrogate and other surrounding areas to come together, chat and make new friends in the process.

Please note the following:

1.  Please make sure that you have a current photo of yourself and use your first name, not a nickname.  It is hard to identify members at events when we only can go by a picture of their children or pets.

2. Respect and consideration for others is priority so if you RSVP for a meet up please do attend. I understand that due to unforeseen circumstances one may need to cancel but if you could please change your RSVP and inform the organiser/host it would be much appreciated.

3. Unfortunately, on previous occasions, venues/tables have been organised and booked, and some members haven't attended on the day. As such, members will still be charged £1 for a 'no show' on that date. If you can't attend please advise and change your status prior to the day of the event.

4. Member activity is monitored monthly and no shows and or inactive members will be removed.

5. The MeetUp website charges a fee each month to run, and so to stay active there is a small fee of £1 at each event towards the cost of running the website, and is very appreciated!

Take care and look forward to meeting you soon.

Thank you

Co-Counselling, Therapy Workshops, Assertiveness+Confidence

Leeds, 45

Co-Counselling, Therapy Workshops, Assertiveness+Confidence

Hello from Richard...

Do you agree to do things, then regret it later?

Can you ask for things, without feeling guilty?

Can you speak up in a group?

When you are embarrassed, or angry, can you still function effectively?

Do you promote yourself with impact, or with an apology?

Can you be playful and proud at the same time?

Courses

I started this group in April 2012 in order to publicise the various courses that I run in Leeds. Some of these courses are free, some are at a very nominal price (£1 - £5), and some are at a more commercial price.

Assertiveness
I got interested in Assertiveness Training in my late 20's: I had thought of myself as a fairly confident person, but then I saw a TV programme on Channel 4, with Anne Dickson and Andrew Sachs, called 'Assert yourself!' It really made me think about how I would stop myself from putting my point across to people, or else how I might get into blaming the world for my problems, instead of taking responsibility for my development.

See yourself on video!

Some of the courses that I run give you the chance to see exactly how you come across to other people whilst you are putting a message across. It could simply be you standing up making an announcement about a meeting time, but you'll get the chance to assess your body language and how you use your voice.

Know yourself

The co-counsellling that I do is something really special that I discovered via a friend in 1992...
(NB. it's very different to normal counselling e.g. no one gets paid, and both people share time as 'counsellor' and 'client'. And no one will counsel you.)

When I first joined Co-Counselling International (CCI) it had a big impact on how I viewed myself, and how I held back from relating authentically with the world. What I got most when I joined this network was a sense of freedom to be myself, to be playful, and t have permission to explore inside myself without being disapproved of if I found something unpleasant.

I eventually learned to give expression to the joy inside me, as well as explore the more difficult and sometimes hidden sides: anger, shame, grief. I learned that it’s OK to cry, to sing, to dance, to yawn, to celebrate, to be quiet, to NOT know.

Hear from other people on YouTube.com and read other people’s stories: go to YouTube and search on 'co-counselling'.

HERE & NOW Encounter Group... Authenticity + Connection

Leeds, 45

HERE & NOW Encounter Group... Authenticity + Connection
**Welcome!...** *I have been going to 'Here and Now' groups for 20 years and continue to be enthusiastic about how the situation provides me with the opportunity to be surprised, to get to know myself, to relate instead of switching off, and to connect with myself and others in unexpected ways. I hope you'll join me in a group meeting soon. Below are some more details about what's on offer here.* *Richard Mills* **This group provides a space for people to come together and relate authentically with each other in the 'Here and Now'.** The invitation is to: • Stay in the here and now, to stay present, and notice your thoughts and feelings.Try to avoid talking about ‘there and then’. • Say anything you like • This is an exploratory group with no fixed agenda: allow space for the unexpected. • Experience a group of equals where there is no leader to show you what to do. (The group will be peer-led, and once the group meeting has started I (Richard Mills, your host and group organiser) am an equal participant.) Group meetings have a beginning and an end time, plus time for a break, but other than that have **no structure**, so as to allow an open space for the participants to use as they wish: there is no set task or division of roles. The experience will be both **interpersonal and intra-personal**. This means that there is an element of relating to others in the group, so it's inter-active, but it also provides an opportunity for internal reflection, about how you are, in the moment. The invitation is to avoid saying "What do you do?", "Where do you live?" etc. and instead to explore **"What's really going on for me/you, right now?"** At times there may be silence in the group broken only when someone feels moved to speak. This group is for those wishing to be part of a supportive environment whilst **making authentic connections with others.** **This group is not a therapy group,** and you are responsible for your own wellbeing. The group is not suitable for people who are very emotionally fragile or disturbed, nor for anyone whose life is in chaos. Having said that, **it should be fine for you as long as** you welcome the opportunity to reflect on how you are in the present moment, and can tolerate the fact that we won't know what will be said. Whilst it may help you if you have had some experience of group-work, this is not essential. **Please read the warning at the bottom of this page.** **The Benefits** I can’t talk about the benefits that you will get, as we are all unique. But I can tell you about the benefits for me: • Authenticity • Aliveness • Getting in touch with myself…feeling ‘connected up’ • Getting in touch with others…connections • ‘Uncertainty training’ • The ability to wait • Getting feedback from others • Self-knowledge For more detail about that, see the page called 'The Benefits of Here and Now Groups' in the section marked 'Pages' - the link is towards the top of this page. **Venue** The group will be held in a private secure location, usually Room 6 Oakwood House, 637 Roundhay Road, Oakwood Leeds LS8 4BA See [www.richardmills.co.uk](http://www.richardmills.co.uk) for directions. **The Guest House (by Rumi)** This being human is a guest-house Every morning a new arrival A joy, a depression, a mean-ness, some momentary awareness Comes as an unexpected visitor Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture Still treat each guest honourably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. That dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. **Further opportunities for Here and Now groups** I first found out about these groups in the CCI co-counselling network where I go to 3 or 4 residential events each year, and I go to one or two Here and Now groups each time. To find out more visit **[www.co-counselling.co.uk](http://www.co-counselling.co.uk)** **WARNING** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- This group is not suitable for absolutely everyone, and may not be suitable for you if: * You rarely smile at anyone You feel that the world is against you Your accommodation and work and social live are all in a state of chaos Your behaviour is significantly extreme Eye contact feels almost unbearable Your life has big highs and lows, over which you feel you have little control You frequently experience overwhelming despair If it is your first time at one of these meetings and you are in any doubt please phone me, Richard Mills, on 07984002495

Leeds Over 50’s

Woodlesford, 45

Leeds Over 50’s
Hi and Welcome to Leeds Over 50's, I set up this group in September 2022 having recently moved to Leeds and being in need of making some new friends. I decided to set it up for those over 50 who would be interested in joining in with a wide range of activities. The group now has been a great success. Take a look at the past events to see the huge variety of things we have done so far. It's been great fun and I have been lucky enough to make some very good friends and met some fantastic people and I am very grateful to all who have joined in and come along to events. The group now has six additional organisers who have helped hugely to host events and come up with ideas for future events and I'm very grateful to all of you who have helped in growing the group and making it a success. The group is aimed at Over 50's but we have many members in their 60's+ and also some in their 40's so if you're in those age brackets you're welcome to join. We offer a wide range of events including food & drinks, live music, pub quizzes, walks, picnics, visits to local attractions and more adventurous stuff too! So if you like me are relatively new to the area or are just looking to make new friends and expand your social network then please join us and come along. We are also very happy for others to join us as organisers too or to come up with ideas for events so just drop the leadership team a message if you would like to add an event. **Joining Instructions:** 1\. Please ensure you have a recognisable picture of yourself on your profile\. 2\. When you request to join you will receive a welcome message and a link to the relevant bank details and/or PayPal to pay your membership fee which is required within 7 days and please add your name and Over 50's meetup as the payment reference\. 3\. Your membership will not be confirmed until your membership fee has been received\. Once paid please reply directly to the welcome message on Meetup or email me on cheryl\.411\.69@gmail\.com to let me know you have paid and the name the payment has been made under\. \(Do not email through meetup\)\. 4\. The annual membership subscription fee to cover Meetup costs is £3 for 2024 there will be no additional fees to pay unless they are ticketed events which you will need to pay for in advance or purchase your ticket separately\. 6\. For paid events the Paypal link will be added to that event and your place will be confirmed on receipt of payment\. If you do not have Paypal and wish to attend a paid event please message me for bank details\. 7\. For ticketed events where you will need to purchase your own ticket\, the link to buy your ticket will be posted within the event details\. 8\. Please do not click attending an event for a ticketed event until you have purchased your ticket\. 9\. We do not accept cash or cheques for membership fees or for paid events\. 10\. The Paypal link should you require it is below\, please click friends and family when paying subscription or for paid events so that Paypal do not deduct a fee\. https://paypal.me/cheryl41169t?country.x=GB&locale.x=en_GB **Housekeeping:** 1\. Please RSVP to events at least 24 hours prior to the event if you wish to attend so the host knows who is coming\. 2\. Please do not turn up to events when you have not RSVP'd\. 3\. Try to give at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend an event and amend your RSVP\. Understandably things happen but sometimes there are waitlists so the earlier you can change your RSVP the better as this will allow someone else to attend\. 4\. If you repeatedly RSVP and/or no show and/or change your RSVP at the last minute we will have no alternative but to remove you from the group\. 5\. Some events allow you to bring non\-member guests and this is shown on the event page\, however after 3 visits we would expect guests to also join the group\. 6\. We are not a dating site or a singles only group and couples are also welcome to join\. \(Caveat \- people are of course entitled to connect with each other if they are in a position to do so\)\. 7\. Any abuse\, racism or disrespect shown to another member will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the group immediately\. 8\. We ask that all members treat each other and the hosts of the group with respect\. 9\. We appreciate that not all events will suit everyone but we aim to offer a variety of events so that there will something on offer to all\. 10\. We know it can be daunting coming along for the first time\, hosts will always be happy to meet you and provide meeting/contact details\, so come along and have some fun\! Thank you all for your friendship and support, let's hope we can continue the success and hope to see you at an event soon! Cheryl :)
