Riverside NeighborNet (Neighborhood Network)

Riverside, CA

Riverside NeighborNet (Neighborhood Network)

A Meetup for people interested in getting to know their neighbors and creating a stronger sense of community in the Riverside area. This group is sponsored by SWICA (South-West Intentional Communities Alliance)

NeighborNets are affinity groups of people who live in the same general neighborhood who share in different ways (resources, activities, friendship, interests, and possibly values) and choose to form closer bonds with one another.

One such neighbornet describes its vision this way: to be like an old-fashioned neighborhood. While there is no property owned in common, they have established a community based on friendship and resource sharing. They have weekly potluck dinners and regular group activities such as camping trips. Many opportunities arise for regular interaction. Children play together and adults can be seen chatting as they water gardens and relax on their front porches.

Neighbornets are closely related to intentional communities... unlike most other intentional communities, while the members live in the same 'part of town,' they do not need to live in the same building, next door to each other, or even on the same block. It is convenient if members of a neighbornet live very close to one another but it is not necessary.

The form and organizational structure (if any) of neighbornets may vary widely. But, they are all based on sharing:

Ridesharing/sharing time with one another/community dinners/picnics/hiking, drumming, and other group activities/sharing resources/sharing tools/owning vehicles together/common house/community meeting space/sharing labor/childcare/care for the elderly/shopping/community gardens/preparation for possible emergencies

Most of these types of sharing are not new. In fact, they used to be a part of what neighborhoods were all about.

Greater Social Life Union of Moreno Valley

Moreno Valley, CA

Greater Social Life Union of Moreno Valley

The Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

There are many steps on your journey to greater social life. Here are the first steps for members of GSLU. After reading the rest of this introduction, you should read the 2021 book The Guide to Thumoslang. Many of our members put this new knowledge into practice as suggested by The GSLU Handbook.

When you spend more time in damage control mode and less time benefiting from your various relations, you waste a great deal of effort in your social life. Such a cost of opportunity keeps you from going at high speed towards your ideals, in creating your ideal self, and in actualizing what you truly want to become. This is likely due to a lack of social clarity, which is essential for internal conversations and vital for meaningful relationships.

Unintentionally created in 2017, accidentally discovered in 2018, and first taught in 2019, Thumoslang is the nomenclature for social clarity. It is used as a language for faster communication, be it in complex collaboration or difficult conversation. The first widespread use of social clarity has been predicted by Thumoslang pioneers to be just as important as the first widespread control of fire. All is explained by The Guide to Thumoslang, which is backed by The Dictionary of Thumoslang.

Again, the Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

Your ideals are the same as your ideal self, which means what you truly want to become. "Everything else is secondary," said Steve Jobs. Our group activities involve you with the first practical steps in the further development of your ideals, in keeping others from interfering with your life, and in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals. To be sure, if you lack social clarity in your internal conversations, face unwanted drama too often, are not sure of your social life or your path into the future, or have no friends and no groups available on a regular basis to help create your ideal self, this group is for you.

*** MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS ***

Our group activities bring you the following benefits:

Benefit 1 - Mastery of Relationships

As new GSLU members participate in the union's activities, they will quickly find themselves having noticeable enhancements in their social lives. The further they participate in GSLU activities, the faster they naturally acquire the mastery of relationships.

Benefit 2 - Best Friends for Your Ideals

Our group activities include practical steps in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals.

Benefit 3 - Internal Dialogues More Effective

Thumoslang is a set of terminology whose use is intended to benefit one's clarity in social situations. Consequently, Thumoslang allows you to have clearer communication with yourself in your mind.

Benefit 4 - Meaningful Relationships Much Stronger

Our members use Thumoslang to mend or strengthen their existing relationships, build new relations, and achieve greater social life.

Benefit 5 - Faster Actualization of Your Ideals

The actualization of your ideals goes faster when it regularly involves your best group, which is the small group of in-person, second-mind friends who are the best for the nurturing of your ideals. Our activities help you speed up the actualization of your ideals by reducing social roadblocks and increasing social shortcuts in your life.

Singers and Songwriters Showcase

Redlands, CA

Singers and Songwriters Showcase

This group is for people who need to sing to stay sane.

You don't necessarily need to be a songwriter but you gotta be a song singer!

If you are sick and tired of crappy karaoke bars or if you are just looking for a place to sing and showcase your songs then maybe this group is for you.

This group is focused on singers but other musicians may tag along to help them perform. Another goal is for musicians to be able to network with each other and form possible collaborations.

You don't need to be a professional singer but you must be able sing on pitch and people must, at the very least, like some of your songs. There is no politically correct way of putting this except to say you gotta sing good at least some of the time.

You can sing by yourself or bring some musicians and/or instruments along.

At least one person must sing on each song.

NOTICE: Please understand that, although we accept many genres of music, this group is primarily geared towards ROCK AND ROLL. We tend to run our mics HOT and it will get RELATIVELY LOUD at times! Not loud enough to do ear damage but you will most likely have to raise your voice a bit to talk to the person next to you. You Have Been Warned! :)

Remember, this group is centered around Redlands, California so if it's too far to drive then please don't sign up!

Sorry, but at this time there is no Hip Hop, Rap, or Spoken Word. We might make exceptions for some people once in a while but generally speaking, this is not that type of group.

At this time we have a limited policy about religious music. We would prefer a small number of these songs but ultimately it will be up to the voting members of the group to decide. All voting members were polled with the question "How do you feel about religious songs, do you want to hear them or not?" The result was "It depends on the songs. Preaching is NOT acceptable."

You can bring instruments, other musicians, friends to watch you perform, backing tracks, devices to play your music from, flash drives, optical discs, etc.  Bring your audio special FX boxes, microphones, and lighting FX if you got 'em. Maybe bring some audio cords and power extension cords too.

We will provide the sound system and a decent audio engineer most of the time. If anyone has a good powered sub-woofer, please contact us. A video monitor will be provided if you need to see the words on screen for some of your musical backing tracks.

Eventually, we would like to do an audio recording and also a video of each performance unless the artist(s) specifically asks not to be recorded.

Each singer or group of singers gets to perform in rotation for as long as time allows. We try to practice the "Fast Rotation" method to cram as many songs in as we can but at the same time we reserve the right to take bathroom breaks as per individual needs.

Currently, there are a total of 50 spots available for each performer or performing group so we are going to be a little picky about who we let in. Members will need to attend a meetup at least once in a while. If this group becomes popular we will add more spots.

We are also looking for places to hold these events so if you know of a good location please share that information with us.

Ideally, some locations will be in a place were everyone can "Bring Your Own Everything" (BYOE) like foods, drinks, chairs, partying necessities, etc., so we don't have to pay restaurant/bar prices for these things (whee!).

Each location must have electricity, at least one bathroom, and on really hot or cold days air conditioning and/or heating at the very minimum.

To sum this all up, it's a singing party. I think this gives you a pretty good idea what this group is all about. Let's turn this into a monster :)

---=JoeLlama

PS:  The response has been awesome. The group is about one half full.
