Built on the idea that professionals in every industry across the world all share a common goal, to develop strong relationships that help grow their businesses and careers. Through meeting in-person and virtually, Network After Work provides a platform that makes connecting easy. Hosting live events in 87 US locations with plans to add additional US cities and international locations, growing your business and relationships has never been easier.

For 10 years, we have been at the forefront of face-to-face business connections. As social media and virtual relationships have been all the rage over the past decade, we have found that live interactions are still the best way to build solid connections. Shaking hands and looking someone in the eye is an invaluable skill and builds the strongest foundation for long lasting connection.

Though meeting in-person is our foundation, meeting virtually is a great accompaniment to our signature live events. With our goal to make your business connections long lasting and sustainable, our mission is to do everything for you, all you need is the desire to seize new opportunities and the willingness to help others.

Northeast Emergency Survival and Preparedness Network

Meriden, CT

Northeast Emergency Survival and Preparedness Network

The purpose of this group is to bring together like-minded individuals that have an interest in gaining knowledge, acquiring new skills and networking with other like-minded individuals that are survivalists and preppers.

Our goal is to prepare for most disaster scenarios whether they are natural or man-made. We will be using a combination of presentation groups and hands-on training. Attendees will need to bring at least a multi-tool or Swiss army knife to all meetings. Other types of necessary equipment will be specified in the event announcements. I will not be able to accommodate people that don't have the required gear. If an all day wilderness training is scheduled and you don't bring your own food and water, you may be asked not to participate.

We will be covering a wide range of topics including everything from basic survival skills to long term survival. Along with the skills you will also need the tools to survive. Although I'm not an advocate of 'Naked and afraid' type survival, I can demonstrate the skills that would be needed in a similar situation. I just ask that nobody goes to the meetings naked.

As the group progresses I plan on scheduling several overnight trips and camp and training weekends. Most of the meetings will be held at various locations that relate to the training topic. I would also like to form groups of people who live in a specific area that would want to work together and help each other in a SHTF situation. Ultimately I would like to see a network of these small groups stretched across the region.

This is not a doom and gloom type group. By gaining the knowledge, skills and tools for survival, you should not have to be afraid for your life in a disaster situation. Rather, this is a confidence building group. Sometimes even a little bit of fun can reinforce skills memorization.

We do not discriminate against age, sex, race, religion, or political affiliation. Members are expected to show courtesy and respect to other members regardless of any individual differences.

I plan on holding meetings every other Sunday even if it's just a discussion group. Fortunately we live in an area with an abundance of places to pick up new skills so we should be out and about quite often. I will try to keep events scheduled for at least three months at a time but they may be subject to change so check back often.

CT Lesbian & Bi Soirees

New Haven, CT

CT Lesbian & Bi Soirees

WHO WE ARE
-  lesbian or bisexual women (living openly as women)
-  age 21 and up
-  living in Connecticut
-  gathering to meet new people, socialize, and network.

WHAT WE DO

Our members host all types of activities all around the state. We hike, kayak, paint, drink, eat, play cards and games, picnic, walk our dogs, talk, dish, commiserate, debate, sing, carve pumpkins, DANCE, dress up, dress down, dress in costume, see plays and movies, and sometimes even take trips.

HOW TO JOIN

Make sure your display name includes a first name and last initial (or more), completion of the profile questions, and a clear photo of your face to join. If you are declined, check your photo and make sure you meet membership criteria. You can ask for membership again after updating your photo or other issues.

You must be both woman-identified (living openly as a woman) AND non-heterosexual to join this group. Trans people who fit those criteria are also welcome. While we do enjoy spending time with our male and heterosexual friends, this group is for a specific part of the community.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

All of our events are hosted by a club member. Members can expect to be greeted and introduced to other members at all of our events (except perhaps those that involve massive public crowds). Please keep your photo updated so hosts can identify you at events.

DUES

We are no longer requiring annual dues.

HOW DO EVENTS WORK?

Anyone can create an event, or act as host at a larger community event. You can create your own event for coffee at the Starbucks near you, or invite other people to join you for Karaoke Night at your local bar. We encourage all members to plan and host events. We have several very active event organizers, others who only organize one type of event. Sometimes events are specified for a particular subgroup (ex: Parents, Vegans) and that's okay, too.

Most events are adults-only. Nursing mothers may ask their host if bringing their infant is appropriate. Older babies, children, minors, and men are not welcome at our events unless specifically mentioned by the event host. [Occasionally personal friends are invited to someone's home-based event. Sometimes an activity is child-appropriate or for families. Sometimes a bi-friendly event might specify that it will allow men.]

Members are sometimes permitted to bring a guest or two to an event. Please be careful about which other lesbian/bi/queer women you bring to our events, as you are responsible for you guest’s behavior.

PHOTO PRIVACY POLICY

We take photos of members enjoying our events and post them to this private meetup site. Only other members can view the photos. If you do not want your photograph taken, please immediately and politely let the photographer know. We will not remove photos that members find disagreeable.

Please do not post meetup event photos or tag our members in posts on your personal social media accounts (like Facebook) without permission from every person in the photo/post, including anyone in the background. Some people are not out.

NESIT Makerspace

Meriden, CT

NESIT Makerspace

NESIT

290 Pratt ST (2nd FL)

Meriden,CT

The NESIT mission is to foster collaborative learning in science and technology.

We do this by:

* Providing members a place to explore technical and creative projects.
* Hosting frequent, high quality and technical public workshops
* Teaching computer basics to the general public via free computer clinics
* Building a community of makers and hackers that thrive on sharing their knowledge.

Our Story

NESIT was founded in early 2010 by a group five friends who were looking to build out a physical workspace where we could create things (like a linux wet bar), experiment with HAM radio & network equipment, share and build knowledge in information security, participate in community charitable work and have a fun place to hang out.

We witnessed the explosion of the hackerspace movement first-hand at HOPE (Hackers On Planet Earth), by following the work of the Chaos Computer Club, and by talking with and watching the lectures of Mitch Altman. So we decided that we would use hackerspace model design patterns (specifically those of our friends at Noisebridge & Alpha One Labs ) to build and govern our organization. By early June we finalized our incorporation and by July had located a large industrial space which was within our means and central to everyone.

Currently we have 25 members, hundreds of supporters and a massive workshop in which we’re able to further our mission. We run activities of some type at least three days per week, and have seen steady growth in membership since day one.

None of this would be possible without the generous donations we’ve received and the supreme dedication of our officers, board, and members. We welcome all to visit us during our open ours so we can show you first hand what we are about!
