Fifty+ & Single-Humpday Happy Hour & More

Lake Orion, MI

Fifty+ & Single-Humpday Happy Hour & More
This group is for seasoned single professional individuals. It’s the original and first group of 50+ and Singles. I want to create a group that is dedicated to a more mature group of fun loving and still young individuals to come together and network and meet in an environment that is not a "dating" but rather a social group to enjoy good times and good cheer! There seems to be a lot of Happy Hour Groups dedicated to the 20, 30 & 40 year old's and that's fine but this is for the rest of us! I plan on having at least once a month on a Wednesday a Happy Hour Meet and Greet & usually a dinner or dancing on possibly a different night. I sometimes combine with my Fun Lovers of Travel & Local Events Group. Come join, have fun and make new friends! It is my intent to bring people together to meet and enjoy each other’s company and form new friendships! That is what drives me. Seeing smiling faces of those having fun and enjoying themselves is the best feeling I can have. There are many close friendships that have developed and this also warms my heart. \*\*\*NOTE THIS IS NOT A DATING SITE AND YOU WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CONTACT MEMBERS VIA MESSENGER THAT YOU HAVE NOT MET.\*\*\* I do not mind questions if it is to clarify some confusion, however, I do put a lot of time, energy and sometimes personal money into doing this. (organizers pay Meetup $98.94 every 6 months to have up to three sites + supplies, wrist bands, balloons, & shortfalls) All I am asking is that before you ask a question, that might already be spelled out in the meetup, PLEASE take the time to CAREFULLY read it completely first. If you have a complaint I would like to hear from you in private. Please don't post them on a meetup. I do not want negativity in the group and I have and will do all that I can to avoid that. I do remove people who are not polite or are not a good fit with group. With all of that said, I love love love this group of wonderful people and hope this year is even more fun for all. This is YOUR group….please help me make it greater!! I am not fond of no shows and will remove you from the group if you have 2 no show. Please if something comes up, have the courtesy to change your RSVP to no. Linda

Great Lakes Self-Reliance

Novi, MI

Great Lakes Self-Reliance
Click "EVENTS" above to see **ALL events** scheduled. Click "Read more" (below) to read what we're about, and the Responsibilities of Membership.... Contrary to what is posted on our meetup home page, we are rarely 'based' in Novi.  In fact, our meetups have been located all around the **southeastern Michigan area**, including Detroit suburbs (Livonia, South Lyon, Novi, Brighton/Howell, Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Swartz Creek, etc. **As we look at our world today, our future seems uncertain.** We have indeed lost many of the “basics” and primitive skills known and practiced by our forefathers. We have become *dependent* on imperfect fragile life-supporting technologies and infrastructures which are highly interdependent such that the loss of one causes loss of others (the Domino effect). Thus, there is a need to return to a respectful knowledge of the land and become self-reliant.  In the few moments you have just before disaster strikes, your preparedness level may define the  *rest of your life*. Take your chances or take control. After all, ***it wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.*** **What will our Self-reliant knowledge and skills *prepare us* for?**  Short answer: Life! Long answer: Anything that could happen to disrupt our fun or affect the normal routine in our daily life: Job loss, illness, house fire, auto accident, natural disasters, economic collapse, World War III, end of the world *as we know it*, anything, everything! We are a group of like-minded every day normal people and families networking and striving to learn and share knowledge and resources to become more self-reliant.  This meetup’s focus is on learning **survival knowledge and** **sustainable skills** …because the more you know the less you need...  AND, it wasn't raining when Noah built the Arc. Further, there is a certain pride and **peace of mind** security in being able to fully take care of one self and family, though 'no man is an island'.  **Community IS important.**        **Responsibilities of Membership:**  By joining our meetup group you accept full Responsibility for your own actions, or lack of actions, as the case may be. We reserve the right to decline or remove anyone from membership for any reason. We are a public outreach meetup related to preparedness, survival, homesteading, or sustainable living …for come what may. We do not want extremist or hate groups, and we do not discriminate against age, gender, race, religion, etc.  We are also not a forum to bash other well-meaning members... negative drama will not be tolerated, so violators may be removed from membership.  It is up to each of us as responsible self-reliant adults to encourage and help each other build our community for come what may.  The meetups are intended to be a foot-in-the door, a starting place, to learn brand new skills, or brush up on old ones.  Each member assumes full responsibility for deciding if each meetup presenter meets their own standards of people they deem fit to teach them the skills. This meetup group was started July 8, 2013. The organizer of this meetup pays $198 yearly from their own pocket, plus the time to post the skill-learning opportunities, and plans to continue to do so as long as there is a need, or until SHTF.
