Valley Indie Game Dev Collaborative

Abbotsford, BC

Valley Indie Game Dev Collaborative
Building a game on your own is a big challenge, requiring a wide range of skills beyond just coding: UX, art, sound design, story and dialogue writing, music composition, project management, marketing, etc. To add in some wrinkles to all that, there are multiple tools for each discipline and few of them are quick and easy to learn. Valley Indie Game Dev Collaborative is a space to meet for focused work sessions, network with people outside your core discipline, and expand your skill set. We welcome coders, CG artists, CG modelers, sound designers, regardless of how much experience you have or which tools you use. All you need to know is that you want to participate in creating a game! We host a variety of events including weekly in-person sprint sessions, monthly workshops, occasional social / networking events, and semi-annual online game demo events. In between events, you can hang out in our Discord server: https://discord.gg/S8r9aVut9U In order to grow a group local to the Fraser Valley, we require members to attend at least one event within the first six months of joining, and at least one event a year after that. There's no commitment to attend the sprint session every week (you're welcome to, though!), but the more frequently you attend, the more you'll find your motivation recharged, enough to keep you going on your project through the rest of the week. **Code of Conduct:** 1. Respect and encourage others in their own unique pursuits and directions. Constructive and collaborative feedback is encouraged, but must be kept positive and courteous. 2. Discrimination and bigotry are not welcome, so come with an open mind and supportive attitude. To keep things safe and productive, those in violation of this policy may be removed and banned from the group, at the discretion of the event organizers. 3. Signing up for an event and leaving the RSVP as 'Going' after two hours before an event is committing to showing up for it. If there's a schedule change, it's expected that the RSVP will be updated. No showing with less than two hours or less notice (or none at all) is discourteous, and if a pattern of it develops the individual will be removed from the group. 4. We are not here to challenge one another, game development is where we want to put that energy. Let's all get across our respective finish lines together. Happy coding!
