The Kitsap Coworking Meetup Group provides a space for remote and at-home workers to get together to work, to collaborate, and to socialize.
In Kitsap county there are almost 8,000 people who work from home – that's over 6% of the entire working population! We are entrepreneurs, freelancers, solo-preneuers, and remote corporate workers. The ability to work from home and make your own schedule has many upsides, but it also has its downsides. You may feel isolated, lonely, or unable to create a work/life balance when your desk is in the middle of your living room. Those who work alone still need the opportunity to socialize and collaborate with others.
The Coworking movement has grown along with the at-home workforce. Coworking groups are communities of independent workers who get together to work, socialize, and potentially create collaborations when the opportunity arises. Although our businesses are independent, Coworkers feel more productive working together rather than isolated at home.
As Coworkers we have the opportunity to build a support system, a networking group, and to bolster each other's endeavors. We do this through social get-togethers like happy hour, as well as weekly coworking from various locations such as coffee houses or libraries. We are working together to create a community to support those who usually work alone.
