We are a club dedicated to getting outdoors. Events are run by coordinators, and longer trips allow for carpooling from a major transit stop. We will be hosting hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, cycling, paddling, backpacking, and other events at a variety of different levels. **Information about club fees & fee structure :** The $25 yearly fee that we collect goes towards paying for this site and for our insurance dues (and it's as low as we can possibly go!) The $25 yearly membership is good for all events from January-December. (In July, it is discounted for those only joining for half the year). $2 drop-ins are collected for event participants who don't plan to attend as many events and you can drop in about . **\*E-transfer option:** We prefer that you pay your membership fee by e-transfer to our email, **victoriaoutdoorclub@gmail.com**. \*If you are using this option, PLEASE make your profile name on meetup at least has a last initial - OR send us a screenshot of your profile picture. (We have received some unidentified payments in past)! **Waivers:** As a standard outdoor club procedure, every participant is required to fill out our FMCBC waiver once per calendar year, and these are kept on file (currently, fill in the paper waiver at our events. We plan to add a digital waiver soon). **No-show policy & emergency contact form:** We take attendance at each event which is marked on an emergency contact form. If you don't attend an event you have signed up for, you will be marked as a no-show. (If you inform us ahead of time we will not mark you as a no-show). If you have 3 or more no shows, an event host reserves the discretion to remove you from their events. \*We have seen an increase in non-attenders lately. Please be polite! Hosts are volunteering their time.

This is a group for anyone that struggles with social anxiety and the isolation that comes with it. Our intent is to build up a community of individuals who are looking to form connections with those in similar situations. The goal of the group is to meet and connect with others in various small and social activities. We are interested in partaking and enjoying outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, hiking, etc., as well as meeting up for coffee, lunches, dinners, and board games nights! All ages welcome! We understand that It can be difficult sometimes to join activities or social groups due to the challenges associated with social anxiety, but we would love to have you and build this community together! 1) Treat everybody with respect, kindness, and inclusion. EVERYBODY. We are all different and that’s what makes us who we are. We all deserve to be treated as equals. 2) If you ever have an issue with another member who is not respecting you or your boundaries (or those of another member), whether online or at/after events, please bring it to the attention of the group’s organizers (Ryann and/or Gordo) or to one of our Event Organizers. We will do everything we can to resolve the situation, first by gathering all the facts and then up to and including removing members who continue to engage in abusive or unwanted behaviour. 3) If you have any ideas, whether for online or in-person events or for other ways to make the group better, please let us know! You can post them in the ‘Discussions’ tab on our group’s homepage or message us directly. If you’d like to host events, even if it's just one, also let us know!

We use Meetup to schedule our hikes and other events. Our day-hiking and walking events on the South Island run year round. In the winter months we also have snowshoeing and ski trips to Mt. Washington, and cross-country skiing closer to Victoria as weather permits. From April to October you can expect hiking, and cycling events in the Cowichan Valley, the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands along with weekend and multi-day trips further afield.  \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **Membership** The club is open to new members. You can become a guest member of Club Tread by joining on this Meetup site. A newcomer is permitted to join the Club and pay the annual fee after participating in one event. We also have developed rating systems for cycle touring and walks. Other activities are not rated. Day hikes are rated using three factors, distance, elevation gain and trail conditions The trail conditions are for when the trail is in good condition, weather and other variable factors are not taken into account. **Rating Description** \* ***1 Boot: Easy hike***. Suitable for most people. Typically: easy climbs (100m), easy grades, short distances, (less than 5 km), good trail conditions, 1 ­ 3 hours hiking. \* ***2 Boot: Average hike***. Suitable for most hikers. Typically: moderate climbs (up to 400m), moderate grades, moderate distances (up to 10 km), average trail conditions, 2 ­ 5 hours hiking. \* ***3 Boot: Intermediate hike***. Suitable for fitter hikers. Typically: harder climbs (up to 600m), steeper grades, longer distances (up to 15 km), rugged trail conditions. \*  ***4 Boot: Strenuous hike***. For the more adventurous. May contain: steep, high climbs, long distances, or poor trail conditions.

**\~ Restore, Conserve, and Connect to our Environment throughout Greater Victoria \~** The Greater Victoria Green Team is a regional-wide environmental volunteer program and is part of the National Charity Green Teams of Canada ([www.GreenTeamsCanada.ca](http://www.GreenTeamsCanada.ca)). We are a group of people from all over the Greater Victoria area who get together to help restore our local environment in the Capital Regional District. We work with Municipal and Provincial Parks, Charities, Non-profit organizations, Societies, Stewardship and Watershed groups to tackle environmental issues through co-operation and teamwork. We also volunteer at farms to promote local sustainable agriculture. Gloves and tools will be supplied as well as refreshments! All ages are welcome\* and no experience is necessary. If you care about the environment, local food security, and meeting other passionate people then this is the group for you! \* Volunteers 18 years and under wishing to volunteer are required to have a parent/guardian sign the Greater Victoria Green Team waiver prior to volunteering with the Green Teams. All attendees hereby release and shall forever hold harmless the Greater Victoria Green Team organizer, all Greater Victoria Green Team hosts and other volunteers attendees and unconditionally waive any liabilities resulting from attending and/or participating in any Greater Victoria Green Team events. By attending our events you are taking personal responsibility for yourself and any minors in your care. Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. **RSVP'ing and not showing up** There are two rules: 1. Because equipment, tools and refreshments are brought to each event based on the number of people coming, it is important for those who have RSVP'd to show up. If you are no longer able to attend an activity, simply "un-RSVP" and leave the activity to make room for another participant. To "un-RSVP" go to where you had originally clicked on "join us" on the event page and click on "change RSVP". Please do this by the day before the event. 2\. If you don't show up to an event that has a restricted number of participants\, and there is a waiting list for that event\, you will be removed from the GVGT unless you have an appropriate reason\. You must un\-RSVP at least 2 days before an event\, especially if that event has a waiting list \(to give other members a chance to take your vacated spot and participate\)\. This ensures everyone interested in participating has that opportunity\.
