EAT, PRAY, LIVE (Christian Social Networking)

Wirral, 28

EAT, PRAY, LIVE (Christian Social Networking)

Welcome to the social group for Christians on the Wirral, Liverpool and surrounding areas.

Eat, Pray, Live is a inter-church social group aimed at bringing together local people of all backgrounds, ages and denominations

What makes us different?

We are an inclusive group. So, whether youā€™re in a couple, single, separated, divorced, widowed or simply looking to widen your social circles, this group is for you.

From our own experience we know there is a bit of a gap locally for Christians who, for whatever reason, are on their own and would like to get out and socialise with like-minded people.

We also have some more "mature" members who are not registered online but will be joining us on some events!  You will also have the option to bring guests to any event by simply "adding a guest" when you RSVP.

Eat, Pray, Live is about you. What do we mean by this? Our group is set up so the organiser will arrange some of the events, however, we are also looking for our members to suggest or set up events themselves.

What do we do?

Lots!

We put together a varied calendar of events, both secular and faith-based, such as outdoor activities, wining and dining, charity events, seminars and anything else the group can think of. We also aim to arrange a mix of low cost and free events where possible.

We know it can be daunting joining a new group, but weā€™ll always ensure a warm and friendly welcome in a relaxed environment.

Plus, we always remember that our faith doesnā€™t limit us when it comes to getting out and making the most of life!

What does membership involve?

Thereā€™s no pressure to attend events. We are home to a wide range of personalities, tastes and interests. So the choice is yours: simply join in as many or as few events as you want.

So get creative in your suggestions ā€“ the skyā€™s the limit!

Gift Life Adventures

Gift Life Adventures

My passion is about exploring the outdoors with people like you who want to experience exciting challenges, whether thatā€™s on foot or two wheels. Fortune has taken me on walking, cycling and scrambling adventures with some great company in the mountains of England, Wales and Scotland. Iā€™ve also been to some interesting places like Tenerife, Spain, Croatia, Belgium and Israel with plans to seek out new challenges and find new friends.

Meetup is a great place to meet new people.  Our adventures will give you a common purpose and the opportunity to build new relationships with like minded people. Youā€™ll be able to join us on day trips and weekend trips, as well as longer ventures to more remote locations.

I am a competent navigator and plan routes that suit all abilities - some routes will be for those just starting out whilst others will be more challenging and involve longer distances and graded scrambling routes. Most recently, weā€™ve walked the Edale circular, trekked Snowden via the easier Pyg Track and (for some) the more daunting Crib Goch arret. A group of our cycling pals enjoyed the 127 miles weekend trip along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal with preparation on shorter, more local routes.

If you love being outdoors as much as I do but don't want the grief of reading maps and trying to find and then research walks then Gift Life Adventures is for you.

If you like the idea of "Done For You" fully organised events with no hassle then Gift-Life-Adventures is for you.

Gift Life Adventurers offer organised day walks as well as weekends away

If you like the sound of this group then donā€™t delay...join us on the next adventure and meet new friends.

Trips youā€™ve missed out on:-

Welcoming the New Year on top of Snowdon 2019/2020.

Rivington pike.

Ben Nevis.

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Welsh 3000 Challenge.

Walking and scrambling weekends away staying in Mountaineering huts.

Walking and social weekends away in Betws-y-Coed.

Camping Weekends with walking of course.

Weekend Canoeing down River Wye with camping

Cost 2 Coast bike rides, Way of The Roses, Trans-Pennine Trail

Wild about Merseyside

Liverpool, 28

Wild about Merseyside
This is a group for anyone interested in wildlife and nature. We'll be visiting local nature reserves, national parks and interesting habitats. Our local patch will include a rather broad definition of Merseyside covering not just the Mersey itself but also Deeside, Wirral, the Sefton coast, the West Lancashire plain and the Ribble. Furthermore, Liverpool is ideally situated within easy striking distance of many national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty including Anglesey, Snowdonia, the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland and we will be exploring these on longer weekend trips. There may also be the occasional expedition abroad. While there are already many outdoors and hiking groups available on Meetup, I've always been slightly dissatisfied by their offering, which often involves racing around at breakneck speed in an effort to climb the highest mountain or clock up the miles . Rarely do those in these groups take an interest in the places they walk through or the wildlife they (don't) see. This group will be different. We will be taking life at a slower pace and, sometimes literally, taking the time to sniff the roses. Yes, there will be an element of hiking sometimes here. We might even occasionally do some adventurous stuff (I'm rather partial to a spot of wild camping and multi-day expeditions to remote parts of the country, for example). However, the emphasis will always be on finding wildlife and building up an understanding of the habitats we are in. There may even be a reading list! What kind of wildlife will we be looking at? Well, birdwatching will always be a central part of any trip. Mammals are interesting, of course, but with the exception of seals and the odd fox, they tend to be harder to find. We'll also be looking for butterflies, moths and dragonflies. Sometimes we'll be looking at flowers, particularly orchids, which serve as the entry drug to the mysterious world of plants. In the autumn we may take an interest in the third kingdom and go looking for mushrooms and toadstools. The core events will be visits to nature reserves around our region held on the weekend. The nature of wild places is that they tend to be, well, remote. Therefore you may need access to a car to get to many of these. Furthermore, I will be limiting numbers to maintain a small group size, as I'm not a fan of bus parties. In addition, I hope over the summer when the days are long to organise some shorter evening walks, and these will be accessible by public transport for those coming from work. There may be the occasional weekend camping trip. You will need to bring a pair of binoculars on every trip as you won't see much without this essential piece of kit. I can advise on buying these if needed. You may well want to bring a camera as well. Please note that dogs are not allowed on any trip (the rise in dog ownership in recent years has been a disaster for wildlife). When I'm not outdoors, my second love is a nice country pub so after each trip we will be having a "debriefing" in a local establishment, and I hope this will build up a community of like-minded naturalists (I realise that traditionally Meetup events are held in the worst pubs and dodgiest bars, so we may be bucking the trend here).
