What's Up, Sheaf? (20+ | Creative | Social | Outdoors)
Looking for ways to get out there, see what Sheffield and the stunning outdoors nearby has to offer, make new friends, and get involved in any of a wide range of creative, social, and outdoorsy events? Into walking/hiking, book clubs, music making, creative arts and crafts, or social sports? If any of those things apply - and whether you are new to Sheffield or have been living in this amazing city for years - What's Up, Sheaf? could be the group for you! We are a welcoming, friendly, inclusive, and relaxed bunch, with most of our members in their 20's and 30's and at a similar stage in life. We launched recently in November 2023, to bring together under the same group some existing, well attended regular events in Sheffield. These include Stitch and Bitch!, a Book Club, seasonal weekend hikes, and the Sheffield Community Music Ensemble. We organise regular events across a range of areas including those mentioned above. And we are always super duper happy to hear from anyone who would like to become an event organiser and add to the range of events on offer. We care about creating events which are as inclusive and accessible as possible. We know that some attending a meetup event for the first time might be nervous or anxious, or have different accessibility requirements. If you would like to attend one of our events and we can do anything to help you feel welcome and to have a great time, please do get in touch with the event organiser who will be happy to help :). Our events are all 100% free and non-commercial!

Sheffield Mountaineering

Sheffield, 37

Sheffield Mountaineering
Welcome to Sheffield Mountaineering. We are a long established and very friendly group for people who enjoy exploring mountains and hills in the UK without being solely focused on rock climbing (although we do plenty of that too). Being based in Sheffield we take full advantage of the Peak District as well as making regular trips away to Snowdonia, the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands and the great mountain ranges of mainland Europe. Our main activities include scrambling, rock climbing, winter climbing, hiking, caving, abseiling and indoor climbing. We cater for all levels of ability and experience so whether you’re a seasoned Alpinist, just a hill walker looking to move on to something a bit more adventurous or anything in between, you have come to the right place. All our outings take place under the guidance of an experienced mountain leader. Membership of our group is absolutely free but at each of our events we do appreciate donations of £2.00 per person towards our substantial MeetUp fees and other operating costs. We do not wish to make any profit from our mission of facilitating mountain outings for like minded people under professional level guidance but if those benefiting from our activities can help out with our expenses in some small way it is always very welcome. Please see the notes below and hope to hear from you soon.... Important Notes: This Meet Up group provides an informal means of meeting fellow mountain enthusiasts and enjoying what the great outdoors has to offer. Although there is always an element of knowledge sharing, it is not a Club or Training/Coaching group and therefore members of the group should not expect to receive any special training or instruction. While mountain safety is always our number one priority, at the end of the day as with any other voluntary activities, you remain responsible for your own Health, Safety and Well Being. For any of the Meet Up activities, please ensure you are comfortable with what you are doing and that you are fully informed of the risks. Any doubts at all then please ask. The group does not have any insurance and cannot accept responsibility for the actions of its members. Please note the following BMC Participation Statement: "The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement."

Women in the Wild, Sheffield
**"Welcome to Women in the Wild, Sheffield, where we're all about adventure, laughter, and FAB gal pals!** 🌿🚴‍♀️ **Find us on Instagram @ Women in the wild, Sheffield.** Do you dream of conquering mountains, exploring forests, or cruising down scenic roads on your trusty bicycle? Or maybe you just want to find your outdoor spirit animal while making lifelong friends? Well, you've stumbled upon the right place... We're not your average meetup group; we're the outrageous, the audacious, and the wonderfully adventurous! 🌟 Whether you're an expert mountaineer or a newbie with a sense of humour, our doors (and trails) are wide open. You'll find a welcoming bunch who will chat chat chat, no awkward silences here! Expect a mix of activities like hiking, biking, museum strolls and coffee shop stops. We don't take ourselves too seriously and all our welcome to walk with us. Our mission? To bring together like-minded women who appreciate the great outdoors, a good laugh, and fantastic friendships. We're not just a group; we're a family of fierce females ready to conquer Sheffield, and maybe the world, one trail at a time! No matter if you're a trail-blazing pro or a first-time adventurer, we're here to cheer you on, lift you up, and make you snort with laughter (it's okay, we all do it). ***There are no membership fees, but please consider making the occasional donation to [PAYPAL](https://paypal.me/WITWSHEFFIELD?country.x=GB&locale.x=en_GB) to cover the fees that meet-up charges each month for hosting.*** Alternatively, you can donate in cash on a walk; surplus each month shall be donated/used for hiking parking fees for those that carpool. **Rule 1:** The first rule of Women in the Wild Sheffield is... you must talk about Women in the Wild Sheffield! Share it with your girlfriends, your neighbours, your cat, and anyone who'll listen. Our adventures in the Peak District are too epic to keep a secret. **Rule 2:** The second rule of Women in the Wild Sheffield is... bring your wildest, most colorful hiking socks, inspired by the vibrant spirit of Sheffield's art scene. Bonus points if they have a touch of Peak District mossy green or gritstone gray. **Rule 3:** If it's your first time at Women in the Wild Sheffield, bring snacks with flavours as diverse as Sheffield's culinary scene. Seriously, we take trail snacks very seriously. Chocolate, cheese, and anything with Henderson's are highly encouraged. Make sure to tell us about your best Sheffield foodie finds. **Rule 4:** No gear-shaming allowed! Whether you have the latest ultralight backpack or neon trainers from the '90s, we embrace all levels of outdoor fashion in the Steel City. Just own it! **Rule 5:** If you're feeling tired on a hike in the Peaks, you can request an impromptu interpretive dance break while gazing at the rugged beauty of the landscape. It's scientifically proven to boost morale, and we're all about morale-boosting in the heart of England's wild nature. We try to have a mix of fast and social pace walks to suit everyone's ability. **Rule 6:** Always share the best new finds on the trail, with panoramic views of the Peak District serving as the backdrop. Heard a great new record? Seen a fab new TV show? Tell us about it. **Rule 7:** In case of rain in the Peaks, we have an official dance called "The Raindrop” inspired by the unpredictable weather. Don't worry; you'll learn it in no time. It's scientifically proven to make Peak District rain less wet. **Rule 8:** When someone takes a tumble (and it's bound to happen in the Peak District's rugged terrain), the group shall immediately break into a spontaneous interpretive dance to distract from the fall. Safety first, then dance ( if it gets a tad sweary, we don't mind). We're here to support each other, walk at a pace that suits all, and have a fab time. Nobody gets left behind. Wherever possible we will try to add approx mileage, elevation and “difficulty” to our walks on each event. A walk - social pace, very little strenuous incline. B walk - long distance or changing elevation. C walk - fast pace short sharp walk or challenging walks for experienced hikers or those with good physical fitness Instagram: WomeninthewildSheffield

Greater Social Life Union of Sheffield

Sheffield, 37

Greater Social Life Union of Sheffield

The Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

There are many steps on your journey to greater social life. Here are the first steps for members of GSLU. After reading the rest of this introduction, you should read the 2021 book The Guide to Thumoslang. Many of our members put this new knowledge into practice as suggested by The GSLU Handbook.

When you spend more time in damage control mode and less time benefiting from your various relations, you waste a great deal of effort in your social life. Such a cost of opportunity keeps you from going at high speed towards your ideals, in creating your ideal self, and in actualizing what you truly want to become. This is likely due to a lack of social clarity, which is essential for internal conversations and vital for meaningful relationships.

Unintentionally created in 2017, accidentally discovered in 2018, and first taught in 2019, Thumoslang is the nomenclature for social clarity. It is used as a language for faster communication, be it in complex collaboration or difficult conversation. The first widespread use of social clarity has been predicted by Thumoslang pioneers to be just as important as the first widespread control of fire. All is explained by The Guide to Thumoslang, which is backed by The Dictionary of Thumoslang.

Again, the Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

Your ideals are the same as your ideal self, which means what you truly want to become. "Everything else is secondary," said Steve Jobs. Our group activities involve you with the first practical steps in the further development of your ideals, in keeping others from interfering with your life, and in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals. To be sure, if you lack social clarity in your internal conversations, face unwanted drama too often, are not sure of your social life or your path into the future, or have no friends and no groups available on a regular basis to help create your ideal self, this group is for you.

*** MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS ***

Our group activities bring you the following benefits:

Benefit 1 - Mastery of Relationships

As new GSLU members participate in the union's activities, they will quickly find themselves having noticeable enhancements in their social lives. The further they participate in GSLU activities, the faster they naturally acquire the mastery of relationships.

Benefit 2 - Best Friends for Your Ideals

Our group activities include practical steps in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals.

Benefit 3 - Internal Dialogues More Effective

Thumoslang is a set of terminology whose use is intended to benefit one's clarity in social situations. Consequently, Thumoslang allows you to have clearer communication with yourself in your mind.

Benefit 4 - Meaningful Relationships Much Stronger

Our members use Thumoslang to mend or strengthen their existing relationships, build new relations, and achieve greater social life.

Benefit 5 - Faster Actualization of Your Ideals

The actualization of your ideals goes faster when it regularly involves your best group, which is the small group of in-person, second-mind friends who are the best for the nurturing of your ideals. Our activities help you speed up the actualization of your ideals by reducing social roadblocks and increasing social shortcuts in your life.

The Aetherius Temple - Barnsley

Birdwell, 37

The Aetherius Temple - Barnsley
Are you looking for Spiritual Truth, inner peace and a way to really make a difference in the world? Do you want to develop your intuition? Would you like to really use your innate healing powers? Do you want proper answers to the fundamental questions about why we are here, our true purpose and potential in life? If the answer is YES, then King Yoga is for you! **Watch our [Introductory Video](https://player.vimeo.com/video/624811943?h=4f01040381)** As a spiritual seeker, you may feel overwhelmed by the number of claims being made by spiritual teachers. One says one thing – another says the opposite. What can you believe – or trust? The only ways to know are: intuition, logic and sense perception. When you really experience King Yoga for yourself, you will know that it works. Taught by western Master of Yoga Dr. George King (1919 – 1997), King Yoga is a spiritual path free from the outdated dogma of traditional religion – a spiritual path that can bring you real enlightenment, and enable you to change the consciousness of humanity as a whole. King Yoga is threefold: service to others, spiritual teachings and self-development. This makes it perfectly balanced for karmic evolution. King Yoga is not about blind faith. It is about the realization of Truth. King Yoga is not about rejecting logic. It is about understanding what the universe really is – and what and who you really are. King Yoga is not about praying to God for random miracles. King Yoga is about your ability to make miracles happen. *** The Aetherius Temple in Barnsley is a unique, beautifully-designed sanctuary of worship and healing dedicated to the spiritual ideals of peace, freedom and enlightenment. Lovingly renovated over a period of several years, the vast majority of the work was carried out by King Yogis, many of whom donated hundreds of hours of time completely free of charge – motivated purely by the desire to be of selfless service to others. This has helped to ensure that the subtle vibrations of the building itself are conducive to enhancing spiritual awareness. As well as being the venue for talks, workshops and seminars, the Temple also serves as the venue for free spiritual healing, world healing prayer services, Divine services, commemorations of holy events, and Operation Prayer Power. These are some of the most sacred practices taking place anywhere on Earth – imbuing the Temple with an energy of profound inspiration. JOIN IN THESE ACTIVITIES IN-PERSON OR ONLINE. We know that sometimes life interferes with our social plans so it can't be helped (if you had a real emergency please just let your host know asap afterwards) **Running Late:** If you're running late let your host know - there should be info on the event about where and when to meet; hosts and others attending may not be able or willing to wait for you, depending upon the event, it is your responsibly to be on time so don't be surprised if you have been left out if you are late. **No Shows**: 3 'no-shows' and we will remove you from the group for a period of 2 months (first time this happens you will have chance to rejoin, but if it's persistent we may permanently remove you) - sorry about this, but it's something which frustrates both the hosts and the other people coming out to enjoy themselves. Some events may have a wait list and a no show could prevent a member from attending. **Gate crashing**: an event with limited numbers and a waiting list, or at the event hosts discretion will be treated in the same way as a no-show and will be reflected in your profile as a no show. Both are disrespectful to hosts and other members. **Courtesy:** Be respectful but have fun - remember with lots of people you will naturally form friendships with some more than others, but the group is about getting out, meeting new people and being open and sociable. We're all adults but we do all have different ideas about what is respectful - occasionally there may be problems with pestering or harassing (in person or online) - try to sort this at the time / one-to-one but if you can't then let your host on the event know asap (or Group Organizers afterwards) and we'll try to help sort it. WE ARE NOT THE HEAD TEACHERS THOUGH AND THIS ISN'T THE SCHOOL YARD so we're hoping there'll be no detentions to hand out!. However the Group Organizers reserve the discretion to remove any member without notice. **EVENT HOSTS** **Event Hosts:** We encourage as many members as possible to be event hosts as we believe it will make a more vibrant group with a wide and diverse mix off events making the group interesting to be a member of. We request all hosts to aware of new members on an event and make them feel comfortable and welcome, as we know it can be quite daunting for some people to join an established group of friends . **Guidance:** We ask that hosts do not preload events, as some will know it is possible to create events and then the host can add the members who they wish to attend, thereby excluding other members. We strongly discourage this, as it may causes disquiet and upset amongst other members. Hosts who are found to engaging in this practice may be removed as a host. Group events are open to all. We know that over time people with similar interests coalesce together and may wish to organise what amounts to private events. Please feel FREE to do so. What we ask is for you to organize it off group, there is the private side chat on Meet up or WhatsApp and if you contact us, there is at the time of writing a free system called DownToMeet that works almost identical to Meetup where you can invite selected people and organise private events. **Event Payments:** In general Event Hosts will need to organise and collect any monies required for any events such as days out, meals or weekends away or any other type of event that needs deposits or payments. As a general observation where there is a significant amount of money involved it may be wise to gather the event attendees together to discuss the suitability of, for example, accommodation on a weekend away, in order to share the responsibility of decision making, just in case things are not as expected on arrival, so there is shared responsibility. **DISCLAIMERS** **No Warranties:** No express or implied warranties of any type, including for example implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are made with respect to the events and activities. Chesterfield Phoenix Friends makes no representations and extends no warranties of any type as to the accuracy or completeness of any event or activity. Chesterfield Phoenix Friends specifically DISCLAIMS LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES and assumes no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage or financial loss suffered by any person as a result of taking part in events or activities organized by event hosts. Chesterfield Phoenix Pals assumes or undertakes NO LIABILITY for any loss or damage suffered as a result of participation in events or activities. **Participate At Your Own Risk**: Consult a doctor before performing any physical exercise or activities. It is your responsibility to evaluate your own medical and physical condition, or that of your children, and to independently determine whether to perform, use or adapt any of the exercises or activities at our events. Any exercise program may result in injury. By voluntarily undertaking any exercise or activity at our events, you assume the risk of any resulting injury. **Photography**: Photos can be taken at events and shared on social media. If this is unacceptable to you, as a member, it is your responsibility to let the event host know you do not wish to appear in photographs and we ask that event hosts respect the request and ensure your request is honoured. We encourage you to take photos and share them on social media as it helps to promote the group. **Membership** : Chesterfield Phoenix Pals Group Organiser reserves the right to deny new members membership to Chesterfield Phoenix Pals or to terminate an existing membership if it is deemed that continued membership will be detrimental to the well being of the group, or that a member's behaviour has caused offence or distress to any other members or member. The Group's Organisers decision will be final. **Attendance of events will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.** **Updated : 1/1/2024**

Barnsley New Friendships ( 20 + ) 💙⭐️

Wombwell, 37

Barnsley New Friendships ( 20 + ) 💙⭐️
Hello Everyone, my name is Adam and I've been the organiser of this welcoming and friendly social group since June 2023 with the goal of making it very popular. It is for anyone based in Barnsley and the surrounding areas aged 20 and above that’s interested in making new friends. I used to feel that Barnsley was lacking in a proper regular Meetup group which is why I decided to set up one up to change that. There also isn’t a maximum age limit in this group which you will all be very pleased to know 😊 THE GROUP RULES : There is only a few ground rules that everyone should know about. 1 , Firstly anyone joining the group needs to have a clear face picture of themselves that was taken recently, so no blank profiles or inappropriate images please. 2\. Secondly I politely ask people to update your attendance accordingly within a few hours of each meeting just out of courtesy if you can’t make it for whatever reason\. I always try to be flexible whenever I can \, only if someone has failed to show up without any communication 4 times in a row will I have to consider removing them\. However if in the unlikely event that does happen \, they will have the option to rejoin again after 6 months \( 180 Days \) has passed\. 3\. Please keep communication as mutual and respectful as possible\, try not to private message people you haven’t met before in the WhatsApp group unless you have consent to do so first \. If anyone feels they are being bothered too much by someone they don’t know at all\, let me know and I’ll deal with it promptly\. This group offers a wide variety of activities such as restaurants meals , open air festivals , the cinema 🎦 , ten pin bowling 🎳 , afternoon walks, stand up comedy nights , coach trips and even days out on the train 🚆 to other towns and cities. Usually about 3 or 4 events are held each month including an afternoon coffee ☕️ meeting on the first Sunday of each month and our well attended Pub drinks 🍷 social evening on the last weekend of each month. It’s all about having a good laugh, relaxing and living in the moment and enjoying ourselves . Plus there is no membership fee requirement to join like some groups have. If any particular event doesn’t get much interest or less than 4 people attending , then it will usually have to be either cancelled or rescheduled to a later time. There is also an active WhatsApp group available for regulars who wish to stay connected with each other outside of events , so if anyone feels this group is right for them feel free to send a join request and see what happens, or just message me with any questions you have and I’ll reply to you soon as possible, thanks for reading ! 🙂
