Northumberland Walking Group
Hello and Welcome to the Northumberland walking group, for people to enjoy the great outdoors and make new friends.   We usually put weekly walks on for the majority of the year , including weekend and mid-week walks. As a lot of walks are already planned please see the calendar for existing walks (you can click on the walk to access it then RSVP to add your name if you want to go on the walk) for new walks you will receive updates as they are planned - as long as your settings allow for notifications from our group!  Feel free to put forward suggestions for walks. We look forward to meeting you. Membership - £5.00 per  year - Membership dues are paid annually with automatic reminders sent. Please note : Organisers (that's me - Margaret!) and Event Hosts (members who act as Walk Organiser) volunteer and do not get paid.   When completing your profile please ensure not just to reference your first name but to use your full name as we have many, many duplicate names which makes it difficult when searching for someone! **Disclaimer** **Everyone taking part in any of the Group activities does so at their own risk.** We do not employ qualified guides, leaders or first aiders on any of our events. The group works on the same basis of being a group of friends who go out walking together, who invite others to join them on this basis via the Meetup web site. Walk organisers and event hosts assume no responsibility for anyone attending any group event. When you join a walk or other event, whether or not you have signed up for it on the Meetup site or you attend as a guest, you indicate that you accept these conditions and accept that no legal liability is accepted by the group, group organisers, walk organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to such event, however caused. Participants in Group events are reminded that outdoor activities frequently need specialist equipment (boots, waterproofs, etc) and the group does not provide these. Participants are responsible for assessing their own risk, the safety of themselves and their guests and the suitability of any equipment used. Accompanied children under 18 are welcome only at the discretion of the walk organiser - please check with the walk organiser beforehand to ensure that the terrain and distance are suitable. Dogs are usually allowed on walks but - please see the individual Meetup event details or contact the walk organiser - dogs must be kept on a lead where signage requires it or when requested by the walk organiser. Members of the group are expected to show respect to all other members of the group, sexism, racism, bullying or any form of abuse will not be accepted and anyone found displaying any of these unacceptable behaviours will be asked to leave the walk/ activity and may be banned from the group. Event hosts and the Organisers are not liable for any monies collected by themselves once passed on to the relevant end recipients, for example accommodation providers or eating establishment owners etc. Margaret McAloon (Northumberland Walking Group Organiser)

Darlington and Bishop Auckland Social Meetup 40+

Spennymoor, D8

Darlington and Bishop Auckland Social Meetup 40+
We host a variety of regular events e.g.meals, drinks, walks, cinema and theatre trips, days out and craft activities - all events are hosted by members who volunteer to support the running of the group. Anyone can be a host so if you have an idea for an event , let us know. The group is non- profit making and is run by a voluntary leadership group whose role is to oversee the group run successfully. Group members come from different backgrounds & bring individual differences, so kindness & mutual respect are things we value highly. We ask that everyone treats everyone else with kindness and respect and that any form of bullying, disrespect or offence to others is something we won't tolerate. Membership fees - are £5.00 per year and renew each July. Membership fees are non refundable. Keeping the group active - the group's purpose is for people to get out and about and make new friends. To do this, we need people to be active members and to attend events. Managing the finances- event hosts will decide if they want to collect deposits fir events and to collect these. It is also up to their discretion as to whether deposits are refundable. This information should be made clear in the event details. In terms of the membership fees, we need to collect enough to cover the running costs of the platform. The organisers and event hosts do not make any financial gain from the group. Restricting numbers at events - this is at the discretion of the host. We know it can be frustrating when you can't get on events so we ask you keep a regular check for events and use the waitlist option as places do become available. Cancelling off events and no shows- we understand that at times you won't be able to make events you had planned to attend. In these circumstances please let your host know that you can't make it or if you have pre-booked a meal and need to cancel late then call the restaurant and cancel your place yourself rather than rely on the host to do it. Don't forget to remove your name as attending as there may be people on the waitlist. Bringing guests- here we need to consider other members and the impact on them. If event numbers are restricted, it may mean members can't get onto events. Guests are therefore welcome on all our walks or events that are not number restricted but for all other events, we have decided that guests will not be able to attend. Dealing with issues- talking to people is the way we will deal with any concerns or issues, just as you would with friends outside the group. If you ever feel uncomfortable in the group , please do reach out and talk to one of the leadership team who will seek to support you in getting things resolved. If we are aware of any behaviour within the group that is causing upset for anyone else, we will act as needed and do reserve the right to end the membership. However, this will only be done after a resolution cannot be reached. Making decisions- the leadership team will meet regularly and any decisions relating to the group will be made jointly by them. Keeping everyone safe- health & safety and data privacy settings direct from Meetup.

SOCIAL FRIENDS ( Newcastle & North East )
***This group is for anyone who wants to meet new and old friends for varied social activities. This will enable new members to attend events before committing to our group. We are a NON PROFIT making group The charge helps cover the costs paid to Meetup as well as sundry operating expenses incurred by the Organisers, any surplus will be used to either, offer discounted subscriptions, supplement an annual group party or donate to local charities etc*** ***Age limits - there isn’t one, but the members are predominantly characters who have, and continue to, live life to the full! ( suggested suitable for 50+)*** **Please read information below before joining an event:** **Events where a booking is not required:** 1. **If you join the RSVP list to attend an event and a booking is not necessary i.e. drinks only, please amend the RSVP as soon as possible if you can no longer attend.** 2. **In this way, the Organiser is not looking for you.** 3. **Also members who are on a wait list or were unable to attend due to number limitations can then rsvp.** 4. **Repeated cancellations and ‘No shows’ are monitored automatically and this may result in being removed from the group.** **Restaurant and Event Bookings** **The amount of time spent organizing restaurant and event bookings can be quite considerable.** **This includes contacting venues and restaurants multiple times to amend reservations because numbers have changed.** **This can also have an impact on future bookings with the restaurant and venues where seats have been held and cancelled at the last moment.** **We recognise that things can happen from time to time which are far more important than attendance at events, but a committed balance must be engaged which not only takes this into account but also acknowledges that Organisers and Hosts have a busy personal life outside of this group. Therefore the following will now apply:** 1. **A Deposit will always be needed for restaurant and certain event bookings - see the event page for details.** 2. **Deposits will be paid within 48 hours of joining the booking or members may be moved to " Not Going " if there is a wait list** 3. **Deposits will NOT BE REFUNDED if the your place on the event can not be filled.** 4. **Please take this into account when deciding the right time to join the booking and pay the deposit.** 5. **Annual Membership Fees: This will be £10 per annum and will be due on 1st January of each year payable pro rata after one month of joining the group.** **We will continue to remove those who have not, either viewed the group page or attended any events for over 6 months, on the basis that they do not intend to join an event. They may however reapply if they can give a guarantee to start attending! This will continue to be a small group of members who wish to actively take part in our events.** “DISCLAIMER” uh Neither the Organisers, their representatives or Meet Up can accept responsibility for your safety or any losses by taking part in any event organised by the Social Friends ( Newcastle & North East ) group. By taking part in any of our events you accept that you do so entirely at your own risk!

Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone)

Evenwood, D8

Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone)
Welcome to The Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone) group. So first of all we are coming close to the end of our first 6 months as a group and what a 6 months this has been!! When we set up our group, we never imagined how successful it would be, even to the point where we thought that we would never get to 25 members let alone the 62 we have today and are grateful to each and every one of you for your continued support. As we are now looking at the next 6 months, we just wanted to go over a couple of things that we as organisers have encountered and that we feel would improve the experience for all 😊 We would ask that all members regularly check the site not only for new events, but to check on events that they are already booked on. Especially when booking tickets for popular events, we may require payment in advance and quite quickly once tickets are released for sale. We do not have contact details for all members and therefore our only means of communicating details to members is through the meet up site. It's also important to check in case timings/meet up points etc have changed, and saves disappointment for all involved in the event. Meals are pre-booked for events well in advance and although it can be frustrating to not be able to get onto some events, it isn't acceptable to turn up to events on the day, especially if there is a waitlist. We have chosen to restrict numbers to 10 on these events as it is manageable for us as organisers, and some of the venues are small and cosy, and could cause embarrassment for the host and the venue if they cannot fit extra on the night. However, 10 is what we as organisers have personally chosen to implement but other hosts are welcome to manage their events ad they see fit 😊 We know that life happens and are not overly concerned with people who have to drop off events last minute. It would be helpful if you could message the host of the event prior to dropping off an event though, as this means we can monitor and confirm places with venues. There are occasions, however, that monies for deposits have to be taken prior, venue dependant, and can be non-refundable. As much advance notice as possible for non-attendance would be gratefully appreciated in these cases to allow places to be opened up to other members. If an event is fully booked, please do put your name on the waitlist as places do become available and we can then add you on. We have recently had an instance where a member has been removed from the group due to inappropriate behaviour. We would just like to gently remind everyone that offensive and inappropriate behaviour towards organisers or other members, will not be tolerated by the group. We wanted to set up this group for people to come along, meet new people, experience new things and hope to develop friendships and have a good time along the way. We aim to showcase the different types of restaurants and cuisines in our local area and possibly find new places which none of us have been or it has been a long time. Book and Cinema clubs are both popular and whilst the book club was started by a previous member it still carries on and we have all read different genres that what we would, it gives a new perception to what there is out there. In a similar vein we started the cinema club to enable people to join together to enjoy seeing films that they may not have have looked at before and also someone to go to the cinema with. As we now enter our second 6 months we feel that there are many more activities that could be of interest to our members and welcome and are open to any suggestions from you to help get more out of the group. Please feel free to step forward and host any events that you may find locally, just let us know what you'd like to do and we will put on for you. Once again, many thanks for your continued support and we look forward to another fantastic 6 months with many more shared experiences and a life well lived 😁

Social & Singles Meet Up 30+

Newcastle Upon Tyne, 41

Social & Singles Meet Up 30+
This is a social group for people 30+ And I’ve combined this with my singles group. Everyone is welcome if they think it's the group for them Most events are held in and around Newcastle but anyone in surrounding areas is welcome to join and anyone is welcome to host events in another area. We also have had events in Durham and Sunderland. There are always new people at every event and so you won't be the only new one and if you're apprehensive, just look out for the host or post a message on the comments section of the event when you will be arriving and we'll look out for you. This is a private group so only other members are allowed to see your profile and you may restrict certain information being shown. • Meet new people • Make new friends -Relationships • Widen your social circle • Most events are free unless otherwise mentioned. I know times are tough financially and I’ve removed membership fees Three reasons why a membership fee is charged: 1) You know that all members are actively part of this group so you're more likely to see them at our events. 2) A sense of community as members contribute both financially and with their time to organise events. 3) Meetup fees which it costs to use the Meetup.com platform.  I am not going to pick up the cost of running this group myself If you have any ideas for events anywhere in Sunderland, North/South Tyneside or Durham or anywhere in between, whether it's meals, drinks, walking, hiking, shows or if there is something that you want to do but don't want to do it alone, please message me and if you would like to host them yourself, you can become an event organizer. Please be aware that all members are required to have a clear, recognisable photograph of themselves on their profile. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of our members and to allow everyone to recognise group members when attending events. It is also not permitted to message other members that you have not met in person first or with inappropriate messages. Failure to comply may lead to your removal from the group.  Please note: If you RSVP for an event but cannot make it, please let us know. If you fail to let us know and don’t change your RSVP then you are likely to be removed from the group.

We are all here to meet with new people face to face! Clarity about who you are when you show up helps both the organisers and the members 😊. The group is fuelled on the values of **friendliness, kindness and mutual respect**. We are all adults, so let’s act like it 😉! **Bigotry, harassment and abusive behaviour won’t be tolerated**. We aim to foster a pro-social environment, so try to be considerate of your fellow members. **Now let’s have some fun** 🤩!

Whole Foods & Raw Vegan Lifestyle

Newcastle Upon Tyne, 41

Whole Foods & Raw Vegan Lifestyle
**Welcome to the Whole Foods & Raw Vegan Lifestyle Meetup Group!**   **Our aim is to build a supportive community** This group is for anyone interested in a whole foods approach to health, happiness, and fitness - mind, body, and spirit. Our aim is to create a supportive community that enables people to have fun, meet like-minded people, and become healthier by sharing knowledge and experiences with each other. We do focus on eating the rainbow - colourful fruits and vegetables packed with nutrition be they cooked or raw. Whatever your reasons or level of interest in whole-cooked and/or raw foods, you are welcome to join. You do not need to be vegetarian or vegan to join. Curious omnivores are welcomed to join. **Benefits of a whole foods lifestyle** An active whole foods plant-based lifestyle is great for your health, well-being, and longevity, it respects and shows compassion for other species and it helps reduce the adverse impact of human activity on the Planet such as climate change, rainforest destruction, the decline in biodiversity, ocean acidification and pollution.   **Social events and activities** With these benefits in mind, we will be organising events in and around the North East of England such as potlucks, dining out, lunches, talks, debates, yoga, gong baths, classes, challenges, hikes, picnics, and trips. If you have ideas for future events, please do let us know.   **Areas and locations** We organise events in and around North East of England including Durham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Darlington, Teesside, Saltburn-by-the-seas, and the surrounding areas. We also organise events to other parts of the UK such as weekend hiking trips, going vegan festivals, and day trips to dine out in other towns and cities.   **Membership**   Membership to join the group is free and will remain free. This model is used by the very best and most successfully managed vegan Meetup groups across England, Wales, and Scotland. A Meetup site for an unlimited number of members costs only around £138 a year. We have chosen not to pass this cost on to our members. All we ask is that you eat plant-based vegan foods when you attend the group activities. If you know people that may be interested in the group's activity you are welcome to invite them to join. Our mission is to help develop and evolve a supportive community for people interested in a healthy plant strong and vegan lifestyle. We also do not accept money from sponsors. Sponsors listed are simply restaurants, products, and bloggers that we advocate as they offer great whole plant-based nutritional dishes, foods, or content. Instead, we partner and collaborate with our group members and third parties to design and organise events. The group makes no profits from events.  As a member, you can also bring along friends to events. Children can attend our events, provided they are accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult. Our organisers are enthusiastic volunteers.  Our Facebook Page: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/177978515870634/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/177978515870634/) We very much look forward to meeting you at our events.
